this core has a nice synergy as lycanroc can check dangerous flying types, which can threaten trevenant, in return trevenant can switch into fighting types, which can be troublesome for lycanroc. lycanroc can also revengekill centiskorch, sneasel, and other faster threats via the help of accelerock as it is stab and priority. trevenant offers alongside altaria a great water-resist and can also help vs pokemon like lanturn, jellicent, and vaporeon, whereas lycanroc is a great tool to remove rapidash. altaria is a great defogger with a great typing in dragon and flying and it can check fire-, water- and fighting-pokemon for the former two. altaria has also great longevity with having access to roost. in overall the core cancels out many weaknesses against other common pokemon such as golbat, crobat, rapidash, magmortar, jellicent, sneasel, and gurdurr.

Week 13: Dark/Poison/Grass
Roxiee and I decided to go back to the roots of this project and make the new Week about an Archetype Core we already did in the first week! I'll leave a link to Expulso's description for the type synergy: here

To aid your team-building, I have put together a list of Pokemon for each type, although you are not limited to this list!

EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Giga Drain
- Moonblast
- U-turn
- Defog
Choice Specs Guzzlord and Swords Dance Toxicroak are really threatening together in the metagame and with a support in the back they can act like a deadly core, which can cover up most weaknesses in the current NU metagame. Tigether they can cover up the likes of Absol, Claydol, Centiskorch, Druddigon, Gallade, Inteleon, Jellicent, and Xatu.

Choice Specs Guzzlord is there to hit as hard as possible, with a great SpA-Base in 97 and coupled with 252 invest in its SpA alongside Modest nature it can dish out the maximum amount of damage possible. Draco Meteor and Dark Pulse are its STABs alongside Fire Blast and Sludge Bomb as coverage against Steel- and Fairy-types. The 200 Speed benchmark is there to outpace Vaporeon and also up to uninvested Base Speed 67 Pokemon. The Rest is put into the overall bulk in HP.
Next up we have Toxicroak which formes a formidable core with the aforementioned Guzzlord, as it can help vs bulky Fairies like Aromatisse. Its set contains its Dual-STABs in Gunk Shot and Drain Punch, the latter of these is meant for having some longevity. Its last slot is Sucker Punch to get up the mind-games against Psychics like Mesprit and Claydol.
Whimsicott is the last Pokemon on this triple-threat-core with having Moonblast to help vs fighting-types like Gallade, Gurdurr, and Hitmontop. Its other STAB-option is Giga Drain for some longevity in conjunction with Leftovers. U-turn is there to get eitehr Guzzlord or Toxicroak in with more eaze and Defog helps to keep the entry hazards away and to provide a support for Guzzlord and Toxicroak. Its EV-spread is Max HP and Max Speed to perform this role the best it can and the remaining 4 EVs are put into its SpA.

Persian-Alola @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Fur Coat
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Parting Shot
- Toxic
- Foul Play

Qwilfish @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Toxic
- Spikes
- Pain Split

Whimsicott @ Choice Specs / Heavy-Duty Boots / Expert Belt / Pixie Plate
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Moonblast
- Energy Ball / Growth
- Psychic
- U-turn / Growth

Alolan Persian and Qwilfish forms an Intimidate-Parting Shot core and can help neighboring Pokemon setup. Alolan Persian is a progress mon thanks to Knock Off and pairing it with Qwilfish allows it to get rid of Heavy Duty Boots and Leftovers to allow hazards to become in use more effectively. The Qwilfish set allows it to stay alive with Pain Split and spread status with Toxic + Scald. Whimsicott helps with Fighting, Poison, Ground, and Dragon Pokemon and can run a number of sets. Growth Whimsicott is a set Rabia has ran in the past and seems to synergize with the IP core nicely. Pixie Plate and Expert Belt can bluff Choice Specs to prevent Poison-type Pokemon like Weezing or Haunter from coming in so safely while Choice Specs gives straight up direct damage.

Roselia @ Life Orb / Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 8 HP / 252 Atk / 248 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Grassy Glide
- Poison Jab
- Swords Dance
- Synthesis

Sceptile @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 220 HP / 252 Atk / 36 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Acrobatics
- Leaf Blade
- Drain Punch

Nuzleaf @ Terrain Extender
Ability: Pickpocket
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Grassy Terrain
- Protect / Grassy Glide
- Synthesis
- Toxic

So this is a Grassy Terrain based core with 2 mons you may not expect. Let's start with Nuzleaf. Nuzleaf is the Terrain setter, the one that allows for the other two to set up and achieve victory. It basically acts as a suicide, or you can switch out if you want. Next up is Roselia, Cata will like this one. Most Roselia sets run something like Spikes stack, Synthesis, and Sludge Bomb / Leaf Storm / Giga Drain, but not this one! This set is close to a set I used in NFE sometime during Gen 7 NFE a while ago. Swords Dance allows it to buffen up and gain some strength to defeat the tier. Synthesis is obvious, and the two attacking moves allow it to go fast and hit hard! Sceptile is running the average Grassy Terrain set with Unburden + Seed. It acts as the main force against fast Pokemon and checks like Salazzle due to having a strong Acrobatics to destory the stupid lizard. It also has Drain Punch to deal with Steel types and other Pokemon who resist Grass and Flying. As a whole, the two heavy hitters really pack a punch against the Crobat-less tier and can only be stopped by scarfed Salazzle with Fire Blast, so please do not run that.

XATU SUCKS.
:ss/spiritomb: :ss/weezing: :ss/cradily:

Xatu is in the tier, so that’s the end of hazard stack right? Wrong! It’s now more relevant than ever. I wanted to try something different than most of the offensive cores, and my stall urges tingled when I saw Weezing and Spiritomb together, not to mention sleeper pick Cradily. So without any further ado, I present to you, my Dark/Poison/Grass Xatu Sucks Core:

:ss/Spiritomb:
Spiritomb
@ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpD / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Calm Mind
- Dark Pulse
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

The idea of this set is to set up and win once the opposing team is weakened. Set is standard so I still wall Gallade and Tauros which scare out Weezing and Cradily. Tauros is less of a threat to this core, as I will explain later, but still scary if you allow Weezing to get chipped. Spiritomb is really threatening right now, as it can Rest stall Salazzle out of annoying Toxics, and you could even opt for Infiltrator to threaten it even more. Pressure is preferred though to stall Xatu out of Roosts and Defog, and trust me, it will need to use them. Also wanted Spiritomb because it gives this core a spin blocker, allowing Weezing’s TSpikes to stay up against teams with rapid spin as its only removal. A really good Pokémon alone, Spiritomb really shines when opposing teams weakened

:ss/Weezing:
Weezing
@ Black Sludge
Ability: Neutralizing Gas
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpD / 252 Def
Bold Nature
- Toxic Spikes
- Sludge Bomb
- Will-o-Wisp
-Rest

Weezing is a beast, and even with the influx of Psychic Types in the tier (Xatu and Espeon) it is still a good mon that needs to be explored, ESPECIALLY this ability. I have been a Neutralizing Gas fan for awhile, but now it shines more than ever, because my Toxic Spikes will go up no matter what any Xatu or Espeon has to say about it. That allows the threats to Spiritomb such as Eggy A and Whimsicott to be worn down over time. NGas is also useful because it allows Weezing to function as a secondary Tauros check, removing its Sheer Force, making it take LO damage and it will become significantly weaker. It also gives you a grounded Poison type to absorb opposing Tspikes so that’s nice. This also beats on the rare SpD Clefairy, which actually takes Sludge Bombs like a champ. Set is pretty standard, opted forRest to heal off status and to give a full restore which if supported by Heal Bell or Aromatherapy can be free health. Rest also allows for more PP conservation, which is important on fatter teams.

:ss/cradily:
Cradily
@ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rocks
- Toxic
- Recover
- Rock Blast

The sleeper pick of the team, Cradily gives a lot to fat teams. Although a betterSR setter is usually preferred, if you really need a water immune in a pinch Cradily is your guy. Massive SpD, able to eat a hit from Centiskorch and kill back with Rock Blast and more, Cradily is a decent pick. It also gives me a way to punish Xatu more by Rock Blast doing anywhere from 25-27 with 2 hits to 62-75 with 5. It forces roosts, which can be abused with the switch in to Pressure Spiritomb. It also gives you a blanket SpD wall which can eat hits from full health from the Dragons, and recover them off with ease. Would usually serve as a water immune, but be wary of Critdra v2 in Inteleon.

Conclusion:
A good core, specializing in annoying the hell out of Xatu and setting up hazards with ease. Works well, and although Cradily isn’t the best at the moment, given the requirements for the Core, it serves the perfect role as blanket SpD wall, complementing Weezing and Spiritomb very well.

Thwackey @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 80 Def / 160 SpD / 16 Spe
Adamant Nature
- U-turn
- Wood Hammer
- Knock Off
- Drain Punch

Persian-Alola @ Leftovers
Ability: Fur Coat
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Parting Shot
- Taunt

- Power Gem

Silvally-Poison @ Poison Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Parting Shot
- Defog
- Multi-Attack
- Rock Slide

This is a simple, "Parting Shot core." Silvally-Poison and Persian-A take hits well for each other and hinder the opponents offenses/force switches. Silvally picks up T-Spikes and removes hazards with defog. Both Silvally and Persian run rock coverage for Thwackey's weaknesses. Thwackey offers the team a bit more on the terms of offensive presence with an added bonus of more recovery for the other mons.

Week 14 - Dragon, Fairy, Steel.
Corthius and I decided on a wide range of options which will come useful for future ideas ofc but (Dragon + Steel) + Fairy to help with tense Dragon-type Pokemon in the tier like Alolan Neckboi (Exeggutor), Guzzlord, and Drampa. Here is a list of Pokemon to aid you in your teambuilding, however you are not limited to this list, Good Luck!

silvally dragon + comfey + aggron

:aggron: / :comfey: / :silvally: (dragon)

Aggron @ Choice Band
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Head Smash
- Heavy Slam
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock

Comfey @ Life Orb
Ability: Triage
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draining Kiss
- Giga Drain
- Calm Mind
- Toxic

Silvally-Dragon @ Dragon Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Multi-Attack
- Flame Charge
- Iron Head

this is an offensive core built with aggron, comfey and silvally-dragon. aggron has choice band + 3 attacks and stealth rocks, stealth rocks is mandatory and comfey aswell as silvally-dragon appreciate it, when opposing mons are chipped. furthermore aggron hits like a truck with its dual-stab options in head smash and heavy slam, when it is boosted by a choice band. earthquake is its coverage option and hits a lot of mons hard due to the boost via choice band.

comfey is another setup-sweeper which likes to have things weakened by aggron beforehand, it has life orb + 2 attacks in draining kiss and giga drain, which are effected by its amazing ability in triage. furthermore it has access to toxic, to cripple down bulky threats it naturally has trouble against, such as coalossal, centiskorch, and magmortar. the last slot is reserved for calm mind to further boost its great potential it has in the later parts of the game, when the opposing mons are weakened over the course of the entire game.

silvally-dragon is another offensive force and is very threatening when it is going in and ham, especially in the late game, it can be a great tool to break down weakened teams with a strong swords dance-boosted multi-attack and its coverage in iron head to hit fairies super effective, flame charge can help with giving it a +1 in speed and therefore makes silvally-dragon one of the fastest threats in the metagame, due to its natural good speed-tier in 317 with a jolly nature.

sidenote: the EVs are pretty much self-explanatory and don't need a long description on all 3 mons on this core, they are the standard EV-spreads. comfey has modest over timid to have the ability to do more damage output on opposing pokemon.
