Project NU Archetype Cores [Dragon / Fire / Flying]

:roserade: :gigalith: :flygon:

Roserade @ Black Sludge
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 40 SpA / 116 SpD / 104 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Leaf Storm
- Spikes
- Rest
- Sludge Bomb

Gigalith @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 172 SpD / 84 Spe
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Rock Blast
- Toxic
- Body Press

Flygon
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 228 Def / 28 Spe
Impish Nature
- Defog
- Roost
- Toxic
- Earthquake

This core provides solid, near-perfect defensive background to balance teams. Roserade provides access to Spikes and key resistances to Water and Grass while Rest coupled with Natural Cure keeps her healthy throughout the match, Gigalith has amazing defensive utility thanks to being able to check incredibly dangerous breakers and overall annoying pokémon such as Exploud, Ninjask and Salazzle while also soft-checking Hail and Flygon provides great synergy thanks to a Ground immunity, great defensive typing and access to Defog (itemless was chosen as a way to better check the likes of Golurk and Decidueye, but Rocky Helmet or even Leftovers are also good options depending on your team).

Congrats to this weeks winner, :Flygon::Gigalith::Roserade: by Catalisador! Once again, a fantastic core that I've even used myself. Well worth a try. Tagging Corthius to add Cata's core to the HOF

WEEK 20: Dragon / Fire / Flying?

This weeks core might seem wild and weird, and that's because it is! This more offensive core futures one of my favorite types, Dragon (I know, basic). Fire was an obvious choice to beat down Steel's and switch into Fairy types with ease all while appreciating the Water resist provided by Dragon types. We noticed that we were super weak to Ground types, and after a tense coinflip, decided on Flying to help bait in and chip Steel types for the Dragon types and mess with those Earthquakes everywhere all while getting those Electric attacks eaten up by the Dragon. Is this super weak to Rock? Potentially, but I know you can all get around it. Show us your best cores!

Flying

As always, you aren't limited to this list of Pokemon, but consider it a starting point. Good luck!
Submissions due by the weekend :p

jask k9 guzz
:ninjask: :arcanine: :guzzlord:
Arcanine @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Teleport
- Will-O-Wisp
- Flamethrower
- Morning Sun

Guzzlord @ Choice Band
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 104 SpD / 152 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Outrage
- Knock Off
- Heavy Slam
- Earthquake

Ninjask @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 100 Def / 156 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Dual Wingbeat
- Protect
- U-turn
Arcanine and Ninjask form a nice momentum core with the combination of Teleport and U-turn. Arcanine is running enough speed to creep Adamant Sirfetch'd to use Will-O-Wisp and recover with Morning Sun. Guzzlord benefits this core by acting as a Poltergeist switchin thanks to its Dark-typing. Will-O-Wisp Arcanine also gives Ninjask opportunities to setup Swords Dance on burned targets.

DragMag ft. Jask

:ninjask: :magmortar: :dragalge:

Ninjask @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 100 Def / 156 Spe
Adamant Nature
- U-turn
- Dual Wingbeat
- Protect
- Swords Dance

Magmortar @ Choice Specs
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 24 Def / 252 SpA / 232 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Focus Blast
- Scorching Sands
- Thunderbolt

Dragalge @ Black Sludge
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 HP / 112 SpA / 144 Spe
Modest Nature
- Sludge Bomb
- Draco Meteor
- Toxic Spikes / Scald
- Flip Turn

DragMag? With what Magnezone? Well, it's time to update that definition because I got the core to end all cores. Based around Specs Magmortar, this core is designed to bait in those pesky Steels and knock them out or break open huge holes. Dragalge is the perfect partner to eat up those bulky waters, and with T Spikes, a lot of the would be walls are now crippled. Jask is here for speed and another Steel/Rock bait for Mag F Blasts.

Banned deucer.
back to the roots:

:Appletun:, :Ninetales:, :Scyther:
Appletun @ Light Clay
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Apple Acid
- Dragon Pulse

Ninetales @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Energy Ball
- Scorching Sands
- Nasty Plot

Scyther @ Eviolite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Dual Wingbeat
- U-turn
- Roost

this core aims around helping ninetales and scyther with proceeding their setups with light screen and reflect appletun helping out in this case as appletun is great at doing that task due to thick fat and its reasonable bulk. apple acid drops the special defense from an opposing pokemon 100% of the time which helps out ninetales' rather mediocre special attack out occosionally. dragon pulse is appletuns 2nd stab without getting an spa drop due to draco meteor. ninetales and scyther have their setups with nasty plot and swords dance respectively. ninetales has fire blast, energy ball, and scorching sands whereas scyther has dual wingbeat u-turn, and roost.

NUPL Champion
KINGdra, lazzle, xatu

:kingdra: :salazzle: :xatu:

Kingdra @ Scope Lens
Ability: Sniper
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Focus Energy
- Draco Meteor
- Surf
- Substitute / Agility

Salazzle (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Corrosion
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Flamethrower
- Sludge Wave
- Toxic

Xatu @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 192 HP / 20 Def / 232 SpA / 64 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Cosmic Power
- Stored Power
- Dazzling Gleam

somewhat of an oddball selection here, but critdra and lazzle pair nicely together due to salazzle's difficulties in wearing down fat waters such as vaporeon and gastro, and kingdra being able to sub up on those makes the job 10x easier. agility can be used if you want a more potent breaker and make your opp shit themselves a bit, whereas sub is nice for the fatter builds running around the meta. lazzle clears out the steels in the way of xatu in order for it to clean with cosmic power + stored power shenanigans, and forcing the opp to sack hp on important mons to kill this demon. overall a fun core imo and definitely better than pokeslice's

:Articuno-Galar: :Flygon: :Salazzle:

Articuno-Galar @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Competitive
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Future Sight
- Recover
- Hurricane
- U-turn

Salazzle (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Corrosion
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower
- Sludge Wave
- Toxic
- Nasty Plot

Flygon @ Lum Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Throat Chop

So, the idea is to have Articuno-Galar use Future Sight to lure in steel types, then use U-Turn to pivot on steel types so you can bring out Flygon or Salazzle, who can setup with Dragon Dance (Flygon) or Nasty Plot (Salazzle). Flygon and Articuno-Galar appreciate Salazzle's resistance to ice moves, and Flygon also appreciates Salazzle to threaten fairy types. In turn, Salazzle appreciates Flygon and Articuno-Galar's immunity to ground, and also apprecitates Flygon's resistance to rock type moves.
