Decidueye is really good at drawing in Pokemon that Toxicroak can take advantage of such as Dark-types and Sap Sipper Miltank, while Toxicroak appreciates Decidueye putting pressure on Poison-types. Miltank is a generally nice Stealth Rock setter to pair with these two because it handles Ghost-types.
Miltank (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 HP / 240 SpD / 16 Spe
Timid Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic

- Vacuum Wave

Oathkeepre: :Kangaskhan: :Froslass: :Toxicroak:

Why not throw in a little KangaSpikes into the mix? Kangaskhan is nice here with that double priority Fake Out + Sucker and the fact that Double-Edge hits everything that doesn't resist it very well. Add in Scrappy and throw on a stylish Silk Scarf and this thing can do serious damage. Froslass is the spiker here and can help with the physically defensive mons that Kang can have trouble with. Toxicroak is there too as a safety net for Fighting types along with Lass. It also has the NP sweeping capabilities which can be helped by Spikes as well. Overall, maybe not the best KangaSpikes core, but it can get the job done.
Kangaskhan (F) @ Silk Scarf
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Double-Edge
- Fake Out

Week 7: Water, Poison, Grass

(shoutout odr)

There are tons of viable Water-types in NU, varying from offensive wallbreakers like Basculin to pivots like Wishiwashi and Lanturn and fully defensive Pokemon like Quagsire and Mareanie. Poison types can help take on the powerful Grass-type attacks from breakers like Specs Decidueye and Flapple under terrain that threaten them out. Grass types can aid Water-types in taking on Ground-types and compensate for their Electric-type weakness (although, in practice, all the Rotom formes can cause problems with their secondary STAB attacks).

All three types contain viable Pokemon for offensive, defensive, and balanced cores, so I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with!

To aid your team-building, I have put together a list of viable Pokemon for each type, although you are not limited to this list.

:wishiwashi-school: :lanturn: :basculin: :qwilfish: :quagsire: :cramorant: :mareanie: :drednaw: :lapras: :arctovish: :silvally-water:

Decidueye @ Choice Specs
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Leaf Storm
- U-turn
- Hurricane

Wishiwashi @ Leftovers
Ability: Schooling
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Scald
- Protect
- Earthquake
- U-turn

Silvally-Poison @ Poison Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 HP / 196 SpD / 60 Spe
Careful Nature
- Multi-Attack
- Parting Shot
- Defog
- Flamethrower

Specs Decidueye is a very scary offensive threat in the metagame with very few solid answers. Silvally-Poison helps to bait in ground types and provides removal and tspike absorption to maximize Decidueye's support. Wishiwashi helps to check a plethora of physical attackers and keep up momentum to always put up the pressure with this core.

Banned deucer.
:arctovish: + :eldegoss: + :weezing:

Arctovish @ Choice Band
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fishious Rend
- Icicle Crash
- Psychic Fangs
- Body Slam

Eldegoss @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain
- Rapid Spin
- Pollen Puff
- Sleep Powder

Weezing @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Pain Split
- Flamethrower
- Sludge Bomb
- Toxic Spikes

This is a balance core. Weezing sets Toxic Spikes to deal massive chip damage over time and walls a lot of things, while Eldegoss gets rid of hazards, makes the enemy go to sleep, and is also bulky. This is so that Arctovish can sweep uncontested.

God I love hazard stacking. Garbodor has proven to me to be a reliable Spikes setter. Its Poison-typing and good physical bulk allows it to check many common physical threats and some walls. Really good mon.
Decidueye established itself to be a threatening wallbreaker and with its dual stab combo only Miltank really switches in reliably. U-turn gains momentum which is an important part of hazard stack teams.
Basculin finally gets the love and attention it deserves. Mystical Water allows you to bluff a choice item which can catch some switchins off guard. Again, Flip Turn provides useful momentum.

EVs: 40 HP / 192 Def / 200 SpD / 76 Spe
Calm Nature
- Volt Switch
- Scald

Abomasnow likes hazards such as Toxic Spikes in order to punish switchs. Weezing acts as a fighting type check and helps to spread status through Sludge Bomb and Will-O-Wisp. Lanturn can provide a slow pivot for the team with Volt Switch as well as Heal Bell support.

A offensive core. CS Basculin brings momentum and fast cleaner. Subtox Gourg Smol is a tech for Spdef Miltank and help again water. NP Skuntank help absorving toxic spikes and with the stall matchup.

:ss/drednaw: :ss/abomasnow: :ss/skuntank:

A common HO lead core that I've used in the past, Dred is great for forcing up rocks and doing some solid chip, while Aboma comes in afterwards to set veil. Skuntank can utilize veil to plot up and start chunking away at enemy teams. Simple and effective!

Drednaw @ Focus Sash

:basculin:+:decidueye:+:toxicroak:

Offensive core to destruct common defensive cores with miltank+quag, lantern, etc. Decidueye specs only may have problems with miltank and the eat 40% of hurri so if you cheap you can 2hko, basculin is practically the same that decidueye and toxic can set up in many mons and sweep

Balanced core with spd roselia and def quag + offensive skuntank
I choose extra roselia bc she can ohko toxicroak with 0 spa
Vs decidueye and weezing do very well
Defensive quagsire Rocky helmet for mons like rapidash-physical vallys- etc
And np skuntank for make pressure
(Ghost-dark resist too)

Week 8: Bug, Water, Ground

Bug types got a lot more attention recently due to the latest tier shift which gifted us with Accelgor and a specific Ninjask enthusiast. But there are more in my opinion at least underrated Bug types to use - from offensive Orbeetle to defensive / stall Vespiquen. Bug types struggle against Rock, Steel, Fire and Flying types. Water types help out with most of these struggles as they are not threatened by any of these types. In return Bug types can abuse the plethora of Grass types that tend to switch into Water types. Ground types bring an important electric immunity to the core which would threaten the two other types. Ground types has the same synergy with Bug types since they also seem to lure in Grass types. Water types help to switch into the Ice and Water types trying to switch into the Ground types.

All three types contain viable Pokemon for offensive, defensive, and balanced cores, so I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with!

To aid your team-building, I have put together a list of viable Pokemon for each type, although you are not limited to this list.

Ninjask
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Acrobatics
- U-turn
- Protect

Basculin @ Choice Specs
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Flip Turn
- Psychic Fangs

Sandaconda @ Leftovers
Ability: Shed Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Glare

Nice little VoltTurn core that has the best of all worlds. Physical breaker in SD Ninjask, special breaker in Specs Basculin, and a rocker + physical wall in Sandaconda. The snake can handle whatever Steels may hinder Ninjask from doing its job at sweeping with Acrobatics. The fish can Flip Turn on Grasses so that ninja bee makes them disappear. The fish also deals with physical walls that Jask doesn't like. Jask can even U-turn on the ever-common Galarfisk.

:ss/accelgor: + :ss/basculin: + :ss/golurk:
Golurk @ Colbur Berry
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Poltergeist
- Heat Crash
- Stone Edge

Basculin @ Choice Band
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Liquidation
- Flip Turn
- Aqua Jet
- Psychic Fangs

Accelgor @ Focus Sash
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic Spikes
- Final Gambit
- Bug Buzz
- Yawn

This core is about keeping hazards up. Accelgor will always be able to set 2 layers of toxic spikes, because no leads I know of run priority, and it can also potentially sleep a foe. Bandsculin (Band Basculin) Damages the enemy really hard and can pivot out into Golurk, which also does that and spinblocks.

:Piloswine: :Ninjask: :Basculin:

Piloswine @ Eviolite
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard

Ninjask
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Acrobatics

- U-turn

Basculin @ Choice Band
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Liquidation
- Flip Turn
- Aqua Jet
- Psychic Fangs

Piloswine sets up Stealth Rock/resists ice moves for Ninjask as well as offering priority. Basculin and Ninjask form a FlipTurn core. Ninjask 4x resists the fighting moves that will be aimed at Piloswine. Use U-turn and Flip Turn to bring Ninjask/Basculin in against favourable matchups.
