Yeah Driflblim is really amazing in NU. So is Glaceon, and I really think that the NU metagame is so much more offensive than that of OU. In NU, everything is topsy turvy, kinda like how Birabel is good at setting up rocks in NU xD
 
thats due to the fact that "good" walls are few and far between in nu. Of course NU will be dominated by offense if defense isnt solid enough to keep up.
 
I find that the best drifblim set is chesto rest.

And slaking is actually doing quite well. many players make the mistake of setting up on him with something slower that is OHKO'ed just because they think I'll switch. I mean, why would I switch when I can just watch your setup and then KO you. And he can survive a lot of attacks to, after all, he has the same BST as groudon and kyogre.
 
And Regigigas as well.

Speaking of which, he's a fairly good staller in NU, if you can use him right. Much more staying potential than Slaking, as his nerf is more easily overcome.
 
While I do not play competitively (yet). I find myself drawn to many NU pokemon and outside of my battle tower teams and a scattering of favorite UU (some of who have since been dropped to NU) most of what I have now is NU.

I recently added magcargo to my nu roster simple because I have been using the trait to speed up egg hatching.

I found myself smilling when it staged a comeback once for me. With sandstorm and relfect up its quiet durable.

Has anybody worked out what a Choice Band Slaking can't OHKO in NU? I suspect there's not much. It's ashame it's ability is so dreadful.

Yeah ive vsed a few people who use it and its really easy to set up on, especially by drifblim. Normally that recoil turn is far too hazardous and your better off using tauros.

Speaking of which tauros is faster that almost everything in the tier, has stab return and earthquake for the steel/rocks aswell as having intimidate allowing it an easy switch in on weaker physical attackers. Its seriously underated.

Tauros and Entei are both 2 underrated threats who really give my team a hard time.

If I can get Tauros to use Return or Earthquake then I'm home free, easy Drifblim switch in and setup. If it uses Stone Edge then I can switch in Primeape or Medicham and hit it with STAB Fighting moves. This all assumes that it's the CB set though. The LO set really rips me up and my only hope is a sacrifice and then hitting it with Scarf Medicham.

Entei, lol, my only defense against this guy is Bibarel. Yes Bibarel. The mixed set manages 40% max with Fire Blast while Bibarel 2HKOs back with Waterfall. Stone Edge from the mixed one only gets 47% max too, so I can avoid a 2HKO and 2HKO back. And thanks to Unaware, Entei can't get any Calm Mind boosts. So I'm relying on Bibarel XD

Which 'mon has everyone else identified as the powerhouses of NU and how do you deal with them in this hyper offensive metagame?
 
Slaking has a move to ridicule setup'rs.. Encore. Drop the Choice Band for a Life Orf/ Expert Belt or what have you. So you can force a double switch or setup on the Pokemon that is in.
 
Slaking really can only work as a Choice Bander, or a lure with expert belt. And even then, being set up by something faster, like Quick Feet Ursaring can still prevent the encoring surprise.

Don't bother with Scarf Slaking. It can only dent the likes of Leafeon, or anything with respectable bulk, and is generally easier to set up on.

Also, unrelated to the topic at hand, I was looking at the other servers on Shoddy Battle, and Gary Oak Battle Frontier has an NU ladder, which from the looks of it, follow's Smogon's tier list. Although the place is empty, the ladder is still there.

EDIT: Disregard the above, their tier list is a bit messed up. For the sake of the thread, move on from discussing this server and focus on the metagame.

Talking about ladders, there is a list from a spanish site, check it out and say what you think.

It's a list by "functionality" AKA "power with fancy words"

How those spanish-(BAN ME PLEASE) (Sorry, I hate them) elect what pokemon goes where:

-They have like "elite" trainers (most of them admins or mods in their server (run in netbattle))
-Those elite guys connect in messenger and decide where pokemon goes where, no reply.

It's even more nazi than smogon, but I just want to see opinions about the list.

IMO I would cut "UU BL" and put them, or at least 80% of them, at NU.

Same bullsh*t as BL, but this one it's a BL between NU and UU, and not UU and OU. (They, however, have not one, but TWO BLs between UU and OU)

Some things are also retarded, like Vespiquen being bannd from NU, or considering Loppuny broken while Wailord not.

The lowest tier honestly I have no problem with this but I would put some more pokemon on this one (Corsola, Magcargo, Mightyena for example) and some others to NU (Mothim for example, as outclass Beautifly and that makes "diversity" even harder and Sudowoodo, as it's too powerful for this ladder)

However, the idea is nice, it would may be the coolest tier in this list and smogon list and any other list.

This topic is about Smogon's NU tier, and discussion of the NU metagame. We should avoid talking about other unrelated site's tiers.
 
Belly drum Linoone works really well with a set up jumpluff and a magneton to kill off steels
He can kill the most defensive pokes in NU and has extreeme speed to stop priority

For example Max/Max Cloyster takes 54.28% - 63.82% damage from extreeme speed

Problem there is that almost anything can sweep with that much support and its still a gimmicky option
 
No one else in the nu tier can use that ONE turn to set +6 attack AND +1 speed I've seen 5 pokemon used to set up BellyZard and using 1-3 pokemon for a nearly garenteered sweep is worth the couple of pokemon

(nearly ephasiaed for random quoters and people who take stuuf too literally)

wouldnt gadevoir be better? after all it can dual screen AND memento. Also due to its ability it can get alot of free switches like on poliwraths waterfall and ninetales fireblast.

Anyway wouldnt you want a TEAM that has synergy and 6 team players instead of a few supporters and one gimmicky sweeper?
