Haha looks like every fighting type grabs a scarf and is almost unstoppable. Thanks to tangrowth being gone i cant think of anything to counter them anymore...what do you guys use?

None of the fighting types can break through a max/max Leafeon if they hold a scarf.

EDIT: Khyl, what set was the Skuntank? I'd imagine it'd have trouble with the Steel/Rock types though.

Tangrowth replacements: Leafeon and Meganium. Meganium has better HP and less Defense. Meganium has Aromatherapy, Safeguard, Reflect and Light Screen. Leafeon has Roar, Wish, Swords Dance and Baton Pass, less HP and more Defense. Meganium also has good SDef, while Leafeon has low SDef. You should use what fits your team better: (Wish+SD-passer) Leafeon or (Cleric+Screens) Meganium. People are replacing Tangrowth with Leafeon, but Meganium is a better all-around wall because of its higher SDef and it has a very different support movepool compared to Leafeon.

Gardevoir is broken. The offensive characteristic makes it broken. Example.

159.png

Gardevoir@Choice Specs/Choice Scarf
Timid/Modest, 4 HP, 252 SAtk, 252 Spe
Psychic
Shadow Ball
Focus Blast
Thunderbolt/Trick

And almost nobody discusses this, but Dragon Dancing Lapras might be very useful. I haven't tested it yet, but it might work. I used it in UU and that worked. But this NU is a very different tier than UU+BL-merge before NU came out.

haha mate ive tested that gardevoir set and although it has serious potential, theres just too many walls that defend against its attacks, such as regice, hypno, grumpig, slowking, munchlax and other gardevoir. It is also easily checked by the numerous faster scarfers and the now common sucker punch skuntank. Although it does make a good revenge killer with scarfed destiny bond.

Though your quite right about lapras. ive vsed one and it takes down a weakened team easily thanks to water/ices good coverage (lets just forget poliwrath for a minute). Although its hard to set up, again due to the multitude of scarfed fighters.

Personally ive found an poliwrath with sub, focus punch, waterfall and ice punch to be my mvp most matches ive used it due to the wide coverage and set up bait. Once you weaken leafeon to a significant ammount its seriously gonna blow open your team!

The best thing Meganium has over Leafeon is Aromatherapy, and slightly better special attack and defense. It has its uses, but more people will use Leafeon as a bulky grass type because it can utilize Wish, Roar, and has generally higher attack and a better STAB. (Leaf Blade)

If you find something (Like Skuntank) walled by Steel/Rock types, use Magneton. It's even useful without killing the opponent's steel types, with a STAB Thunderbolt coming from 120 Base Sp At, and resisting practically everything.

Or your opponent has Slowking. I've been using a bulky Trick Room variant and it seems to be working well for checking fast offense in particular, but also has the typing and bulk to counter an assortment of threats. Works well with Munchlax as it helps for setting up Curses with unmatched speed, and covering each other's Fighting / Ghost weaknesses. In fact, my half-team core of Slowking + Munchlax + Sucker Punch / Pursuit Skuntank means that opposing Gardevoirs have to predict perfectly just to have any chance of having an impact against my team.

And what does Smogon think about Meganium>Leafeon?

Leafeon can actually hurt things. Meganium just sits there and lets your opponent do whatever. It is useful for Cleric / Screen support if you need it, but by that same token Leafeon can pass Wish around, and still be an offensive threat of sorts.

Yes, Meganium or Leafeon is dependant on the kind of support your team needs. Leafeon passes Wish and SD+PHazes. Meganium is a cleric and sets up screens. Leafeon is a better all-out Physical wall, Meganium is a better Mixed wall. None of them is really better. It depends on the support and specialized walling (Purely Physical or Mixed) your team needs.

Something strange and annoying happened in a battle earlier. This guy had Shuckle out against my Slowking, and started using Accupressure. Although I've never come across it before, I knew it was an option so it wasn't too weird. What was annoying was to see that Shuckle's Evasion rose to +4 in two moves, leaving me barely able to hit it, and eventually losing as a result.

As far as I knew, Evasion Clause was meant to prevent this from happening, but no, the stat boosts went through. What is it that I'm missing in this scenario? Is it the extra randomness that allows for the loophole? In that case, do OHKO moves work through Assist or Sleep Talk?

Sorry if this has an obvious answer, it's just that this has never happened to me on Shoddy before.

I've had the same Accupressure Shuckle get a boost in Evasion, (lucky enough to kill it though) but I think that's a problem to post in Simple Questions Simple Answers in the Shoddy Battle forum.

This happened to me. Shoddy prevents moves that increase evasion, but Accupressure provides a random boost, not a specific boost to evasion, so it's allowed, it can happen, and it sucks. Nothing like a +6 atk +6 Spe +4 Eva +2 Accuracy Shuckle sweeping you with Rollout.

How do you guys feel about spikes instead of SR? I use a Qwilfish lead, it can normally get two layers which is much better than SR, for NU at least.

Magneton can help Skuntank with Hidden Power Ground or Fighting.
This is helpful against Aggron, Bastiodon and Probopass, and steels in general.

I agree with Sceats' suggestion. There's always so few battlers on(probably due to a combination of the lack of a ladder and the fact that the NU tier isn't very settled yet), so having a lot of battlers on at once would be a very fun change of pace(I don't think I've ever seen more than 5 on at the same time..)
