Nuzlocke Challenge

To be honest that's pretty average for me. In this round and in most I only trained against trainers, I didn't grind at all. I'm pretty compulsive about battling all the trainers though so in FR/LG my team is usually around Lv. 33 at Erika.

I'm with cloverleaf on this one. I always fight every trainer i see. I also never use repels and fight every wild pokemon i see as well. Takes me like 3 trips back to the pokemon center to get through mount moon

Even doing that I'm still having to grind in Sapphire, RNG keeps giving me Slow or Medium Slow Pokes

I just started doing this a few days ago! I started with Torchic and so far I haven't gotten any water or grass yet, so I'm a little worried about Roxanne. I might have to grind to lvl 16 and evolve it first.

Dragon Dance is officially the best move ever. I completely swept Lt. Surge and Sabrina with it. Gyarados and Dragonite are just so damn awesome.

My whole non non-duplicate clause is starting to make the prospect of new additions to my team rather unexciting. I mean, practically every route in Kanto is Rattata and Pidgey all over again, and even Headbutting gives me nothing but Combees. I'm thinking of reinstating that policy just cause I WANT A NINETALES SO FREAKING BAD. Ergh. Or at least a Houndoom. Is that too much to ask?

My team so far:

Same ol', same ol'.

1. Dragonite Level 60
2. Gyarados Level 58
3. Magneton Level 57 (I was planning to evolve this guy, but the guy in my school who said he would loan me his DS so I could trade it to Platinum forgot for 3 consecutive days. Bleh.)

I'll add the Snorlax when I catch it. If I'm extremely lucky I'll add a Tyranitar too, and that's probably gonna be my team when I face Red.

I'm definitely trying this on HeartGold. There are a few sucky Pokemon on the first few routes (ohai Hoothoot and Caterpie) but I've always found myself more attatched to the RBYGSC Pokemon anyway, for the sake of nostalgia. I'll post some logs on here maybe but I'm really crappy at drawings - I'd love to make comics, but it's pretty much not possible for me :P

Ok, well i killed my Emerald Nuzlocke run... got bored. I'm still training in my Soul Silver Scramblocke Challenge because i don't play it often, although my Magnezone is lv.71.

Now, because of the Earthquake that happened in New Zealand (7.1) -_- , i have got today and tomorrow off school, so I'm gonna do a quick nuzlocke on a FireRed rom over two days if possible...... will update soon.

Edit: Leaf Green, not Fire Red. Also, using basic rules and the species double up rule.

Edit 2: Ok, instead of a Leaf Green rom nuzlocke, I'm going to do one on Diamond, no matter how much i hate it -_- . However, I don't really want to train alot of the Sinnoh Pokemon because i hate most of them, i would prefer training some of my favorites..... hmm.... Anyways, will write a mini fanfiction type thing for it so people actually talk to me for once -_-

I just found out about this, and I definitely want to try! I'll be doing this on Emerald Version first. If I'm still interested, I will do FireRed after that. I'll try to keep it going and updated, but school will take a lot of time out of me...still, it looks like a great idea. Let's have some fun!

Ok, nearly finished my first chapter :) yes, i have lots of spare time because of the damn Earthquake... anyways, will edit this post in about 10 minutes with the Prologue.... anyways, don't expect it to be perfect and i am also editing some of the events of the actual game...

Hmm... its not very good.... as long as i get at least one good comment I'll carry on with it for now:

Chapter 1: Professor Pedo?

The young boy awoke quickly to the sound of stones hitting his bedroom window. He slumped up into a sitting position, his eyes barely open in the pitch black room. As the stones continued to volley against his window, he persuaded his body to wake up, pulling himself out of his bed, a sacred haven to him for half of the day.

He walked over to the window, his light blue t-shirt and dotted boxers the only clothing he wore to bed. As he neared the window, he heard a faint hiss and a boy’s voice, “Link, quickly, get outside”. This wasn’t going to be good. Albert probably wanted him to do something stupid again like when he managed to convince Link into putting their neighbor’s Shinx into a cardboard box for 48 hours…

5 minutes later Link was padding down the stairs in his brown Bidoof fur slippers, his footsteps barely making a sound. As he neared the down he could see the face of Albert glaring in through the window next to the door, probably wondering what took him so long…

A dull look was present on his face as Link unlocked the sliding door. “I’m not gonna ask, Link, but lets just go” Albert said, his blond hair catching in the midnight wind as he turned to leave, expecting Link to follow.

“Al, wait” he said, wanting an answer before he left with Albert again. He’d already snuck out at night 3 times this week.

Albert turned on the balls of his feet, his blue eyes meeting Link’s chocolate brown eyes, “Isn’t it obvious?” he asked, a puzzled expression on his face, expecting Link to know the answer… as usual. “You watched the Twinleaf news didn’t you?” he asked.

‘Ah, he should have known’ Link thought to himself. “Let me guess, the big search in Lake Verity for Sue” he said, his knowledge of Albert’s mind high enough to guess correctly.

A huge grin spread across Albert’s face, big than a Munchlax with a big of chips; “Ya know what Link; you know me too well…” He turned back around and continued walking. “I’ll fine you $1,000,000 if you’re late” he said as he walked away.

‘Hmm…. Sue, the ‘shiny’ Seaking, nicknamed Sue because of her green tinge which looks a lot like sewage. Why does Al always think he can find things like this…? I know it’s important to have determination, but sometimes he just has too much…’ Link was almost at the entrance to Lake Verity from route 201, a route he had traveled along far too often for not even having his own Pokemon… ‘Some day’ he though, ‘some day I’ll get a Pokemon’

He reached the tree line; a gap about two cars wide has been cut out of the trees to create a passage to the Lake, a common camping ground during holidays. He walked past the sign that had been hammered into the ground, ‘Lake Verity Ahead, The Lake of Emotions’. He proceeded through, spotting Albert’s light, blond, curly hair, a dead giveaway to his presence.

As he spotting Link, he quickly put a finger to his lips, a signal for silence. He directed his eyes to the waters edge, wanting Link to observe the two figures standing there. He could make our the words they were saying, however it looked like a strange duo, a old man, dressed in a white coat with tall white hair, and a young girl, about Link’s age, but with a lot more significance, such as long blue hair, and a white beanie. ‘Blue hair?’ he thought to himself as he crept over to join Albert hiding behind a tree.

“Oi Link, I think that old guy might be a pedo, look how young that girl is…but I still don’t see what they would be doing here though…” he began to think… ‘could be a long process’ Link though to himself…

Aaah, haven't had an update in a while.

Sadly, Granite the Geodude died (he was 1 level from evolving! D:), leaving my team of

Ivysaur (Emerald) - Lv 30
Pidgeotto (Talos) - Lv 30
Victreebel (Gold) - Lv 24
Gyarados (Riptide) - Lv 26
Butterfree (Lepidot) - Lv 29
Jolteon (Flash) - Lv 29

Without a good defensive wall. Still stumbling around Silph Co. getting owned by Hypnos.

Butterfree is an awesome sweeper. 97% accurate Sleep Powder is nothing to scoff at, and a moveset of Poisonpowder, Sleep Powder, Giga Drain, and Psychic is just plain lethal.

Gyarados, though only at level 26, is my main physical "wall" now, due to his decent bulk and Intimidate. Dragon Rage is an awesome move at this point in the game, 2HKOing pretty much all opposition.

Ivysaur's Sleep Powder/Leech Seed combo is working well, he now has Razor Leaf to do damage as opposed to the low PP/low power Vine Whip.

Fly, Aerial Ace, Quick Attack, and Sand Attack is a decent moveset on Pidgeotto, as he KOs everything with Fly and cleans up the pieces with Quick Attack.

Despite having only Shock Wave as a STAB move, Jolteon is a deadly special sweeper. His other moves are all *immaterial*, Quick Attack, Growl, and Helping Hand generally being useless. He fries Golbats out of the air.

Victreebel had been deposited in the box to accomadate the former Eevee. Now that Geodude is no more, he's back on the team, albeit a bit underleveled. Acid and Vine Whip give reasonable coverage, and do humongous amounts of damage if he gets a hit. Unfortunately, horrible Defenses and a bad Speed has left Victreebel more or less vulnerable in the current scenario.

Dead:

Mankey - Lv. 7 (or was it 6?)
Died from an Ekan's Bite/Wrap combo

Pikachu - Lv. 23 (or 17, I'm forgetting all this)
Died from a Kadabra Confusion

Geodude - Lv. 24
Died from a crit Bite from Giovanni's Kangaskhan

Diglett - Lv. 20
Died from an unexpected Selfdestruct from a Voltorb

In box: None

Grrrrrrk...!

Got owned by a crit from my rival in the first battle of the game.

Tried again, got critted twice in a freaking row.

Going to switch to LeafGreen instead.

So I'm taking a break from Nuzlocke Emerald and I started Nuzlocke FireRed. Waay easier. I think I overleveled (damn you vs. seeker) at one point though because I have four badges with 5 level 38 pokemon and working on training my sixth. I'm not really in any danger anymore which is a bit of a bummer but i think the levels will catch up because the end of the game is fast.

Current Team:
Seedyhead-Venasaur 38
PowPow-Hitmonchan 38
Pecksly 2-Fearow 38
Mrs.Whisk-Raticate 38
Bo-Jolteon 38
Snookie-Horsea 23

Dead:
Pecksly-Pidgey 9 (Gary Oak battle 1)
Maxwell-Voltorb 20 (training)
Jacob-Growlithe 20 (training)

Box:
Bird Slave-Pidgey 15
JustinCase-Spearow 10
Angry Joe-Kakuna 9
Nubbin-Mankey 16
Heckles-Butterfree 19
Spook-Gastly 13
CH'DING- Farfetch'd 13
Peach-Shellder 15

This challenge is surprisingly tough. My current team is:

Simon the Quilava (Lv. 26, New Bark Town)
Gerry
the Gengar (Lv. 29, Sprout Tower)
Margaret
the Gyarados (Lv. 32, Cherrygrove City)
Rory
the Vileplume (Lv. 28, Ilex Forest)
Trev
the Togetic (Lv. 29, Violet City)
John
the Eevee (Lv. 15, Goldenrod City)

The team is a little too OU-heavy for my liking I guess (though everything is viable in-game), but I am using some of my favourites in Gengar, Gyarados and Togetic. Eevee will be evolved into Espeon, which should give my team some nice coverage as well as balancing out the OU and UU Pokeon. I do have a Shiny Stone and might evolve Togetic once it learns AncientPower, but I may well leave it too.

Hey diamondfan, im just wondering, where abouts are you up to in the game? I'm guessing up to Morty?
Also, FlygonRuler, not matter how much you hate the vs. seeker at times, you miss it like hell when playing the Johto and Hoenn games.

Also, i don't think anyone started reading my story anyways, but i made the first chapter longer so posting it here:

“Oi Link, I think that old guy might be a pedo, look how young that girl is…but I still don’t see what they would be doing here…” he began to think…

‘Could be a long process’ Link though to himself…

Albert’s eyes snapped to the left as he heard the faint sound of rustling grass, “Link!” he hissed, and gestured towards the bush he was diving into. Link followed at half the speed, worried his backless slippers would fall off.

From their hiding spot, they watched the entrance to the lake until the man and girl left, the girl carrying a notepad and pen, the old man with a small contraption. “I had a feeling it would be here” said the old man as they both paused at the gap of trees, still within Albert and Link’s sight.

“Well Professor, you’re still getting used to the environment again, it’s been four years since you’ve been in Sinnoh, and it can be a strange place at times” the girl said, trying to reassure the Professor.

Behind Link, Albert’s eyes went wide, “Woah, a Pokemon Professor, probably Professor Rowan” he gazed out at him admiringly.

Once the coast was clear, they left their hiding spot, continuing their original purpose of going there. It was a cloudless night, a good time to try and spot the Seaking in the lake as the moon was full and clearly illuminated the lake with a thin, soft light.

“Hey Link! Look over here,” yelled Albert from beside the lake and a patch of bright green grass, “I think that Professor left his briefcase behind.”

A puzzled expression tore across Link’s face, ‘Why would a smart Professor forget a briefcase?’ He continued walking over to Albert who was waiting at the side of the grass, looking around for signs of wild Pokemon.

“Ok,” he started, taking a few steps into the grass towards the briefcase, “Link, come on”

He wasn’t sure, he stood at the edge of the grass line as Albert had done so a few seconds ago, and then followed him in, his eyes cautiously searching the area.

Just posting to say that, after 5 tries on emerald (best one lasted till mossdeep) I've decided to play firered instead. And, despite having caught 3 psyducks, ratattas, spearows, meowths and oddishes (I don't have much more species on the box) I have just beaten Giovanni and I'm now heading for Victory Road with:

Bruce Lee, the lv. 53 Bashful Hitmonlee
Obese, the lv. 53 Relaxed Snorlax (by far the MVP - this guy soloes all Gym Leaders and the Rival with Body Slam, Yawn, Rest and Sleep Talk)
Flowa Powa, the lv. 53 Naughty Venasaur

I will train a Mild Horsea I have for the E4 and will go to the Power Plant and see what I get.

Do you guys think I should teach snorlax EQ instead of Yawn for the E4? I have sleep powder on venasaur.

Dies if it Faints
Nickname All Pokemon
First Pokemon of the Route Only
Lose All of Party, You Lose, Even if Box Pokemon Remain
One Poke-Ball per Mart only
Limited to three uses of each Poke-Center
One use of all other healing methods (Mom's House for example)
Can't use items in battle.
No Switching before your opponent sends out another Pokemon(Set Mode or whatever).
Must beat all trainers and the Gym Leader in a Gym upon entering.
No Rematches with Trainers.
No Daycare Center
Going into red HP scars your Pokemon(aesthetic for comics and the such).
OPTIONAL ADDITION: 10 scars renders your Pokemon unable to be healed.

Ultra intense version I'm currently using that actually eliminates the possibility of excessive grinding, among other things.
Welp, I died on Route 12, four badges or just over halfway through the game. The Snorlax left me with a Jolteon and a Gastly in my box(an underleveled one), and the Rocker after the Snorlax SD'd on Jolteon and his Electrode easily cleaned up my Gastly.

All in all really fun runthrough. This was my first run so I'll say that this mode is extremely hard but doable. I made many mistakes down the road, losing Pokes that would've in turn saved me later on, for example my Gravelerwoman I lost recklessly. I reccomend this style for an extremely challenging run.
