Nuzlocke Challenge

Got domed on my Emerald Nuzlocke :/

What's frustrating was that the deaths were just dumb. I beat Brawley, losing only Rose, my Beautifly (who swept most of his team). She only died because he kept healing up his Makuhita while Bulking Up between turns... Klaus the Marshstomp was able to come in for the revenge kill though.

After that, I headed to Slateport and began training the next highest member of my team, which was Ezio the Nincada... who was dispatched by a Zigzagoon. WITH FUCKING SURF. At that point, the only decently leveled guy I had was Klaus... and by himself, he couldn't take down May. *sigh*

Guess it's HG Nuzlocke time :D

Lol just remember: The game will be extremely easy until you reach Lance, then he'll troll your shit hard like you wouldn't believe.

You know, like, unless you're lucky enough to find a Chinchou...

I'm just finding out that Action Replay can't backup Heart Gold saves because the cards are using a new form of piracy protection... and I don't want to erase my save D: Either I'll do Platinum or old school Crystal then... leaning towards Crystal because I recently did a run of Platinum and I'm just kinda burnt out on 4th Gen, but either way, what's the sage wisdom as far as these two games go?

i'd go for crystal, cause like you said, you haven't played it in ages

I wanna try this challenge, doing Sapphire Nuzlocke challenge.

Will post progress once i make some :P

EDIT: Question. Does buildings within areas count as the same area? Like the weather institute on Route 119. Does that count as the same place?

It's up to you in the end, though I believe usually people count gift Pokemon against the route (for example you can't get both Eevee and a Game Corner Pokemon in G/S/C/HG/SS even though technically the Game Corner is its own building). I say that because I'm guessing you're asking for the sake of Castform. So yeah, up to you, just stay consistent.

EDIT: Or you can go with NinjaLolcat's explanation instead :P

So I started a Ruby Nuzlocke challenge, and I was just versing Maxie. After my Mudkippeee (Marshtomp) has taking a lot of damage, I'd switched into my Cock-slut (Hariyama), since Maxie's Golbat has -6 attack. All good right? He gets a crit, then I die in confusion. He was a great asset.

From Maxies battle

Alive:

Mudkipeeee (Lv 27)

Beautifly (Forgot to nickname :( ) (Lv 29)

Dead

Cock-Slut (Lv.29)

Thats a bummer, Hairyarmpits come in handy later on in R/S. I think that critical hits ignore the -6 attack, seems that way when it happens to me..

Chugging along on my Crystal Nuzlocke; character's name is Noodle, rival is Dingus. I started with Chikorita because I feel bad for it; she (or he, in my case) always seems like the most neglected G/S starter ): I just beat Falkner, which ended up being a tougher fight than I thought. I managed to catch a Geodude (female, nicknamed Helga), and figured she would totally clean up; after a few Mud Slaps though, her Rock Throws simply weren't landing. In order to finally bring Pidgeotto down, I had to rotate through every member of my team, letting them land a hit before switching out and avoiding casualties. Kato, my Beedrill ended up landing the killing blow. My team thus far:

Rio, level 12 Chikorita
Helga, level 11 Geodude
Kato, level 10 Beedrill
Kubrick, level 11 Ghastly
Lugosi, level 6 Zubat

What do people think about G/S/C Ghastly? I have the means to evolve him into Gengar eventually, but he doesn't learn any special moves via level up, and compatible TMs don't come until very late. I feel like Gengar and the Gen 2 ElePunches could be a major asset, but I don't know if the trudge to 25 is worth it :x

Probably gonna do a comic too, I really enjoy doing 'em.

COMIC. DO.

So your going to be able to evolve your ghastly and geodude?

Yeah, I was able to borrow an extra Gameboy and a copy of Red from a buddy, so I just gotta make sure that Ghastly/Geodude don't have any G/S moves. I don't know if I want to live without Magnitude for too long though, so on him I may need to hold off until Blackthorn; although, I could always go with Dig instead.

To the people talking about crits, they do indeed ignore all stat boosts. As for Gen 2 Gastly, eh. Having no special STAB is a real shame, though I suppose having all 3 elemental punches coming off of a powerful base Sp. Attack makes up for it somewhat. You could definitely do worse looking at your team, so I'd say go for it.

question: where did you catch your Geodude, and where did you catch your Zubat? iirc, you can only catch both of them in Dark Cave before Falkner...

This surprised me too; I forgot what number the Route was, 45 I believe - it's the one that connects to the one coming down from Blackthorn City. That's where I caught my Geodude. I thought he only showed up in Dark Cave, but there ya go. As for Zubat, I didn't catch him before Falkner - I got him on the route below Violet City (again, forgot the exact number), adjacent to Ruins of Alph. He shows up there during the night.

I promise I'm not cheating xP

oh ok I forgot you could catch 'dude on 45, sorry. I wasn't accusing ya just curious. Thanks for pointing that out!

I guess I'll start a leaf green nuzlocke. Got nothing better to do really. Hopefully I can find a staryu early. Question: If I manage to get an abra, am I allowed to trade it for the Mr. Mime on rt 2?

Depends on your rules, you can choose whether that trade counts as that route's Pokemon or not.

I was about to start my scramblocke but my DS was in red so will start in a couple hours.
