Nuzlocke Challenge

I can just never think of a good nickname. I like calling my Snorlax, Snorlax. Giving him a nickname wouldn't make my more attached to it. I get attached to my Pokemon when they do a great job at fucking up opponents.

O.K final Update for my Fire Red challenge. When I last left you I had 2 badges left to get......which were pretty easy to get. Zed pretty much swept them with Surf. I did the 1-3 Island side quest and picked up a FLYING TYPE Sperow. If you are wondering why flying type is in caps its because I had nothing to learn Fly so I had to go all the way back to Pallet Town WALKING. Anyway I also got a Pidgeotto which I named La Brosse and evolved him into a Pidgeot while training. Victory road was a little tricky but I grinded their gor ages till I got everyone up to Level 55. After that I got OTT and trained Zed up to level 60 but...yea, no harm done. I spent ages in the Game Corner and I got a twitchy eye before leaving it. However I was able to get the TM Shadow Ball and Ice Beam which was nice since I have all my hard earned cash. After Victory Road I bought my First Healing Items (10 Full Restores which was what I restricted myself too) and entered the E4.

Vs Lorelei

Dewgong

Sparky Thunderbolted it. It survived (1 health) and used Hail but a second 'bolt killed it.

Cloyster.
Thunderbolt but it protect stalled for a while causeing hail to hurt Sparky.

Slowbro
Sparky Thunderbolted it,

Lapras
I blasted off a Thunderbolt but it survived and hit me with an Ice Beam. Now on about 1/2 health thanks to Hail damage and Ice beam I stayed in and finished it with a second thunderbolt.

Jynx

Woried about my Sparky I retreated to Fire Storm who welcomed Jynx with a STAB Fire Blast... Which missed. I was now asleep thanks to Lovely Kiss so I send out Sumo which got attracted. after a long sage after which Snorlax took a crap load of damage thanks to Ice Punch I was finally able to sleep talk a Body Slam which but Jynx into the red zone. Knowing a Full restore was comming I got a free switch to Zed who finally finished it with a Bite and then a STAB Hydro Cannon.

Bruno

vs Onix
Zed sufered little trouble with a Surf ending it.

vs Hitmonchan

Deep Blue Koed it with a STAB psychic.

vs Hitmonlee

Psychic OHKOed

vs Onix

Zed OHKOed with Surf

vs Machamp

Deep Blue OHKO'ed with Psychic...again.

Agatha

vs Gengar

Jolteons secret Weapon came in handy here decimating Gengar with Shadow Ball. Gengar survived and used Double Team but a second Shadow Ball connected and Jolteon drew first blood.

Vs Golbat

Sparky beat it with Thunderbolt

Vs Arbok

I sent out Deep Blue here and killed Arboc with a Psychic

Vs Gengar

This time Jolteon unleashs a Thunderbolt which takes off 2/3rds of Gengars health. however it gets slept by Hypnosis. Zed also got slept as well. Afgter a massive status war in which Zed took all kinds of punishment and got poisoned I was finally able to string 2 Surfs together and take the ghost down.

vs Haunter.

I had to resort to Deep Blue who managed t ooutspeed and Ko with Psychic and finally ending this tricky bout.

vs Lance

With the end almost in sight I prepared myself to take donw the dragon Master.

vs Gyarados.

Sparky stood up to that sea Monster and blasted of a thunderbolt which killed it.

vs Dragonair.

Zed blasted it with Ice Beam and finished it with a Bite.

vs Dragonair.

Same drill here but I got a lucky flinch with bite thus taking no damage.

vs Dragonite

Zed faced off against the mythical dragon and cut it down with Ice Beam while taking quite a lot from Outrage. however a second Ice Beam did the job

vs Aerodactyl

I had to heal here and thus took a bit from a wing attack but I was able to take it down with a surf after taking a second Wing Attack. It survived which meant that I used an Ice Beam which did even less than a Surf. Aerodactly blasted off a Hyper Beam which took 50HP of Zed leaving it with 49 Health left. What a beast. It then finished the battle with a Surf.

However Gary was now the pokemon champion so I now had to go beat him for the last time to prove that I was better than him. I went on to go kick his sexist arse.

vs Pidgeot.

Sparky took it down with a single Thunderbolt.

vs Rhydon

Zed took off a Giga ton of health with a Hydro Cannon.

vs Venasaur.

Well I sent out Fire Storm here to get some action against Gary. I nailed it with a Fire Blast butit survived and used Growth. Its sitrus Berry kicked in. I guess we had the same amount of speed of something since it then used Sunny day which was a pretty dumb move since Fire Storm kiled it with a Flamethrower.

Vs Gyarados.
Sparky Thunderbolted it.

vs Alakazam.

I sent out my trusty Sumo to deal with it. It set up a Reflect while I Body Slammed it which took of just under 1/2 health. I also paralysed it and it reflected my paralysis back at me. I managed to get off a rest while it used Recover. The reflect was now down but I was unable to make use of the fact since sleep talk selected rest... twice. Guttered I had to rest again with the huge amount of damage I was taking from Psychic. I got luck with paralysis and sleep Talk selected Body Slam. Alakazam survived and used Psychic which got a defence drop. I had 2/3rd of a shot to select a damaging move... and i got Return which finally took out the blasted thing.

vs Arcanine

I decided to go with a type advantage and sent out AimForHorn which took half health from a Flamethrower. Arcanine survived an Earthquake but AimForHorn perished to a Critical hit Flamethrower. Upset that I lost a pokemon to unfair luck I sent out my own Fire Storm to prevent its fire moves from affecting me. an Extreme Speed then almost finished it. I knew that Gary would heal it do I used a Toxic which crippled his Arcanine. A second Extreme SPeed hit my Fire Storm and I felt vulnerable so I retreated to Sumo to take a hit. I survived a Extreme Speed and switched to Fire Storm hoping to get in on a Fire Move. Unfortunatly I took a second Extreme Speed which left me on 19 health. I went to Deep Blue as Gary healed him again and unleashed a Psychic. Arcanine then got a Crit Flamethrower thus ending Deep Blues chances.

With 4 pokemon left and 3 in go condition to beat Arcanine I got a free switch to Sparky. Sparky unleashed a thuderbolt which finally took Arcanine down.

FIRE RED BEATEN.

Hmm.... i have three ways to think of a nickname for my Pokemon:
1. Something that reminds me of that Pokemon eg: Hitmonlee=Bruce Lee
2. Some that makes me think of the general shape of the Pokemon eg: Steelix=McBone. A bone is long and hard (dont get any ideas) just like Steelix is.
3. The first thing that comes to my head after capturing it with little relation to the Pokemon at all eg: Octillery=Bottle

I don't have much of an opinion for nicknaming.... it can add a nice touch to the Pokemon games....

I'm starting one up on FireRed. I can't do full narrative updates, but I'll provide a rundown of what I do.

Rules:
-If a Pokemon in your party faints, you must release it.
-Every time you reach a new route, cave, etc., you must catch the very first Pokemon you see, regardless of your current number of party members. The Pokemon may sit within the box for an indeterminate amount of time as a backup.
-If you fail to catch the first Pokemon you see, either via it fleeing, knocking it out, or having no Pokeballs, you may not catch another. Tough shit.
-This means you can not catch a pokemon in a route you were in before you could catch pokemon. So no route 1, you were there before you had pokeballs.
-If a town you go to contains a body of water or a gift, pokemon like Bill’s Eevee in G/S/C/HG/SS, that may be considered a Pokemon of a new area.
-You must nickname your pokemon so there is some sort of attachment. Each pokemon is a best friend to you, to see them die is heartbreaking.
-If your entire party faints, they all must be thrown away. If you have a pokemon left in a box somewhere, you may continue, otherwise you must start your game over.
-You are, under no circumstance, allowed to get a second pokemon from any given area.
-You may not switch out before the enemy trainer sends in a new Pokemon.
-You are not allowed to use legendaries in battle.

-Started the game, Player Name: "RED"
-Chose Squirtle as my starter, nicknamed Squirt.
-While on Route 1 almost make it through without any encounters, until I hit a Pidgey in the last patch of grass. So no Pokes from here.
-Deliver parcel, get Pokeballs, yadda yadda...
-Head to Route 22 to get a second pokemon, and it's a Rattata. I catch him and name him Scout.
-Grab the potion by the cut tree in Viridian collect the TV from the Old Man and learn how to catch a pokemon, then heal up at the PokeCenter.
-Train on Route 1 and 22 before facing Gary on 22.
-Battle versus Gary: Squirt goes up against Pidgey, and gets 2 Sand Attacks, making Bubble keep missing. I use 2 potions to prevent a death, then KO with Bubble. Squirt survives a Tackle from Bulbasaur to Tail Whip before I bring in Scout, who uses Quick Attack for a 2HKO.

O.K I am feeling pretty fed up tring to get BP for TMs for my Kanto HG Team (I will update soon since I am painfull aware that I have not yet updated Mahongany Town)
So I started an Emerald Nuzlocke run to find out if its realy as difficult as everyone says it is.

No real fanfiction shit this time round unless something really cool happened (like that Speced Typlosion battle vs Clair from my last HG Nuzlocke run.)

So I started my journey grabbing a Mudkip since everyone said I should. I skipped the first 2 routes since I don't have pokeballs and fought off May. This was actually kinda funny since for some reason I thought her pokemon was Level 8 or something. so I grinded up to Level 10 with Mudkip...and it turned out her pokemon was at level 5. So I wandered off through Petalburg and watched some jackarse catch a Ralts (lucky bastard). All I caught was a stupid Pouch which I called Fido. I left Petalburg and just outside the city what do I find.... nothing but a Marril wich I catch and name Snow Drop. I check it and...HUGE POWER baby!
On a roll I enter this massive forest and catch a Taillow which I name Maximum (after Maximum Ride). I train for a bit then take down Roxanne with Slick. I have no troubles. I rescue the Deven Goods (again) and catch a Whismer (Bass) and a Nincada! (Swift). Unfortunatly Fido dies during the battle (crit Leach Life) so sucks for him (in case you have not yet noticed I hate Poochyena). I train again and rock off to Dewford. I give Steven his leter but crit a wild Zubat so no pokemon for me in that cave. I fight the fisherman with the Tentacruel and POISON on my friendly Bass. I dash to the Pokemon centre hoping against hope that I can make it and..... I just get there with Bass having 5 health left, too close. I battle all the trainers in the gym to train Maximum up and then I have my battle with Brawly.

EPIC BATTLE

so basically Maximum does what she does best and 2KOs Brawlys Machop while taking about half damage from Karate Chop.

Next up is Brawly's Meditite which I send out my Hugely Powerful Marril. Not too concerned with Meditite I healed up Maximum and am then surprised by a Focus Punch which slamms into Snow Drop and.... I hold on with 6 health left. Pretty much freaking out I realise that I canot switch or heal in case Focus Punch crits or gets a better damage roll. So painstakingly I Water Gun it waiting for a Confusion attack to kill me which... does not happen. I manage to take it down to the red zone where Brawly and I both heal our pokemon with respective Super Potions. I then KO Meditite eventually after multiable Water Guns.

Brawly sends out his last, a Makuhita. Not worried I send out my full health Maximum and Wing Attack takes Makuhita down to almost red. It then Bulks up and gets a Sitrus Berry boost.
At this point I am thinking "oh f***k" but then something amazing happens. Maximum Wing Attacks Makuhita and....yea no crit.
Makuhita then retaliates with a Bulk Up boosted, STAB Vital Throw and Maximum SURVIVES, wih 2 HP left. What a champ! I then win with a Wing Attack since Brawlys Super Potio was already used on Meditite.

Proud of my team I take a boat to Slateport and celebrate. After fighting a few trainers my team is stronger and I get a New member Shedinja!
I name it Kenny (South Park reference) and then take a break from my Emerald Nuzlocke.

Conclusion

Emerald Nuzlocke is the hardest Nuzlocke I have done. I almost lost 2 members of my team in that Brawly fight and I was hardly underleveled (Taillow was @ Lv 20 for Brawly)
Wow.

I got bored with and my tail handed to me by my Fire Red run, though I might come back to finish the Elite Four when I get the willpower to do it. For now, though, I've been wanting to play Pokemon Emerald, so I'm Nuzlocking that game.

Rules:
- Catch the first unique (one I haven't caught yet) Pokemon I find in an area and give it a name then.
- If a Pokemon runs out of HP, it is dead. Place it in the "DEAD" PC Box.
- Do not trade or hack for any Pokemon (not a problem at all; I'm using an emulator and I don't like to cheat).
- I must save the game before I turn it off, and I must turn it off right after I save the game.
- The Battle Style is "Set".
- I may not use healing items (Potions, Antidotes, that stuff). I may, however, give my Pokemon hold items and/or berries. I cannot, however, use Berries on them to heal them. TMs and HMs are also allowed.
- Do not let the levels of any Pokemon exceed the highest level of the next Gym Leader or Champion I must fight. (Example, don't use Pokemon higher than Level 31 against Norman.)
- Enjoy this! This is supposed to make the in-game more fun. (not really a rule, just a statement.)

I'll probably try something more creative if I decide to keep reporting on this, but for now, let me just sum up the events of my run so far.

My name is Hal, not to be confused with Nuzlocke comic artist "Hale". Mom sent me to get some groceries from Absolutely-No-Point-To-This Town in the north, when a wild Zigzagoon attacked me. Luckily, I was rescued by a Treecko that ran away from Birch Lab. I called him Kyle, and we started our journey together.
In Absolutely-No-Point-To-This Town, we heard that a girl might be in trouble. We fended off a Poochyena that we could not caputre due to lack of Poke Balls. It turned out, though, that the girl in trouble was my sneaky, trap-loving neighbor May, and her Torchic Ray. They came to drag Kyle back to the lab, but Kyle refused and air juggled the red chicken. May gave us some Poke Balls as a taunt.

On Route 102, I got REALLY lucky and caught a Ralts. \^o^/ She calls me "Nick" for some reason, so I named her "Maya". She lacked any offensive moves, so I trained her until she learned Confusion. After that, the three of us decimated Route 102 and landed in Petalburg City. It turns out that if I want to see my dad, I have to first collect four "symbols of power", whatever that meant.
Route 104 yielded "Ami Mizuno" Wingull, and I snagged a Wurmple named "Wiggler" from Petalburg Woods. After training them a bit, they learned Supersonic and evolved into Silcoon respectively. Nobody could stand very tall against the five of us. Not Bug Catchers, not Rich Boys, not Twins, not even some weird pirate we met in the woods. ...huh? Getting to Rustboro was a breeze.
We wanted to fight more tough trainers, but I didn't think we were ready. So, I scoured Route 116 for a new friend. We wound up with "Shenzi" Poochyena, and I designated her as my hunter, a Pokemon who wouldn't really fight in battles but be used instead to weaken and catch new friends for us. I put her to use to befriend "Kim Pine", a Whismur from Rusturf Tunnel.
After some grinding, I brought Kyle, Maya, Ami, and Wiggler (who had become a Beautifly by now) to Rustboro Gym. Between Ami's Water Gun and Wiggler's Absorb, the juniors didn't stand a chance. But now the real battle can begin.

HAL VS ROXANNE! Heaven or hell, let's rock!
Kyle totally took charge on this battle. He brought the two Geodude down in one shot each. Nosepass, however, was much tougher. It took several Absorb attacks to bring it down, and Nosepass had even landed a Rock Tomb on Kyle to slow him down. However, Kyle stood tough and kept eating the Easter Island head until it was just a crumb. This battle resulted in learning Pursuit, evolving into a Grovyle, and gaining the Stone Badge. Would all the gyms be this easy? I doubt it, so I'll savor this while it lasts.

After a detour that brought me against another pirate, I headed south to catch a boat to Dewford. Unfortunately, I was caught by some flaming ropes set by May, who had acquired a Lotad named Pedro, in addition to her Torchic. A Grass-type and a Fire-type. Hmm...
MERCURY AQUA MIRAGE! Ami made quick work of May, and we headed south.
In Dewford, I snagged an Old Rod and caught myself a Tentacool, which I named "Jean". In Granite Cave, we found a Makuhita training herself, and I volunteered to be "Shesoheavy"'s coach. (By the way, every Pokemon besides Kyle has been female so far. That's the last 7 captures.) We delivered a letter to this shady and scary-looking gray-haired guy, then I got to training Jean, Maya, Ami, and Wiggler for the tough fight ahead.

HAL VS BRAWLY! Super SMAAAASH BROTHERRRRRRRRRS!
Ami led this fight and easily swept Machop and Meditite in two Wing Attacks each. But the real fight began with Makuhita. Ami put up a good fight against this tubby terror, but she could not muster the strength to finish him after a Bulk Up. Ami was in trouble...
...until Wiggler stepped in. She could take fighting attacks much better, so I reserved her in case Ami got in rough shape. Wiggler's Gust was mighty enough to bring Makuhita to the red zone. But then...
...Makuhita held Wiggler in a tight hug, jumped up, and body slammed my Beautifly. Makuhita pulled a Reversal at his weakest moment and ended Wiggler's life. My first loss. ;-;
Maya was unhappy with what had just happened, so while Makuhita was getting healed in the corner, Maya unleashed a blast of Confusion at Makuhita and weakened it. Makuhita was strong, but he was also horribly slow, so Maya was able to pull off one more Confusion before ending Makuhita's career. Go back to the minor circuit, Glass Joe!
This game's winner is... Hal, aided by his Ralts, Maya! (I love my cute and powerful little Ralts. :) )

After acquiring the Knuckle Badge, I acquired one more Pokemon from the beach north of Dewford: a Magikarp. He was the first male Pokemon I've obtained since Kyle (combo breaker!), and he had a Naughty nature. Magikarp isn't too useful at this point, but after the next gym, he will be far more valuable.
We fought trainers on the beaches of Slateport after training Kim Pine for a bit, and in the port, we saw a bunch of pirates standing in line at the oceanic museum. (What?) Whatever. I hope I get an Electrike from Route 110.
Nope! Gulpin. I called him "Rodriguez", then I searched out Captain Stern. I finally found him at the museum, only to be ambushed by the pirates, who I found out call themselves "Team Aqua". Kyle sucked health from the Carvanha, while Kim beat down the Zubat. Then, the pirate Captain Archie appeared before us, declaring that they seek only the greatest treasure the world has to offer: the ocean. Um... these are some of the weirdest pirates I've ever seen. Then again, I'm not much for One Piece.

And, that's the last big thing I did. So, what am I using?

Green Lantern Corps (my team, the willpower)
Kyle Grovyle, Sassy, Lv18. Pursuit, Cut, Absorb, Quick Attack. [I should have just waited until I got a Tentacool to teach Cut to somebody.]
Maya Ralts, Brave, Lv17. Growl, Confusion, Double Team, Teleport. [She's fine for now, but I would like to evolve her.]
Ami Mizuno, Brave, Lv18. Growl, Water Gun, Supersonic, Wing Attack. [Also good, though I wish her evolution would come sooner than 25.]
Shesoheavy Makuhita, Brave, Lv16. Tackle, Vital Throw, Sand-Attack, Arm Thrust. [My best shot against Wattson. Has Guts.]
Jean Tentacool, Sassy, Lv16. Poison Sting, Supersonic, Cut, Acid. [What I should have waited for in a Cutter. If only she learned a good Water attack soon.]
Kim Pine Whismur, Calm, Lv17. Pound, Uproar, Astonish, Howl. [What to use a Whismur for... the possibilities...]

Blue Lanterns (in reserve, the hope)
Shenzi Poochyena, Jolly, Lv09. Tackle, Howl, Sand-Attack. [Might train her in the vain hope of making Voltorb's WTFBOOM suck more with Intimidate.]
Koi King Magikarp, Naughty, Lv10. Splash. [Pointless with the electric gym next, but may be okay later.]
Rodriguez Gulpin, Docile, Lv13. Pound, Yawn, Poison Gas. [-_-. Unlike Hale, I'm unsure as to Gulpin's value.]

Black Lanterns (Bring out your dead!)
Wiggler Beautifly, Careful, Lvs 05-16. COD: Makuhita reversed, and Wiggler got the worst.

...Um, yeah. So much for summing it up quickly.

Trying Platinum again, first unique pokemon per route (yes im a wuss), and faint = release.

Also, Horndrill11, try to ask that question in the Simple Questions thread.

I am updating my Emerald run.

Slateport was a bit of a hole really. I cleared out Team Aqua and delivered the Deven goods.I then made my way up to Mauville. I faced may along the way but Snow Drop pretty muc swept her. (Defence Curl + Rollout + Huge Power = a crap load of damage). I captured a Electrike which I named Bolt. Watson was no issue for me since Slick swept his entire team. Bolt also took care of Wally's Ralts with ease.
From Mauville I decided to go to Fallarbor Town. I picked up a few pokemon along the way such as a Numel (Burn) and Torkoal (Pyro) I was training my team when I entered a double battle. one trainer had a koffing and I was unable to see the danger. Both Slick and Maximum were out when Koffing self Destructed. Maximum amazingly survived with 6 health left. at this point I was confident since slick was a level highier than Maximum and more defensive, unfortunatly: Its a Critical Hit! SLick Fainted!
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.

Slick could not survive the crit and thus died. I was upset with this loss since SLick was my real powerhouse and I doubted my ability to beat Flannery and Norman without him. However perhapes the RNG felt sorry for me because at that moment a Skarmory appeared through my Super Repel. I was shocked but after chucking a large number of Great Balls I finally managed to catch the damn thing. Impressed with its defensive ability I decided to add it to my team. I Left for Mount Chimney and stopped Maxie from using the power of the Meteorite. After slightly more training I managed to get my team into slightly highier levels. I then challenged Flannery which was a difficult task. Due to me being limited to items that I found (ie I cannot buy healing items) I found it difficult for Snow Drop to break Torkoal. After healing me of attract many times and healing body slam paraylsis I was finally able to ammass enough Defence Curls so that my super powered Rollout was able to take down Torkoal. However this victory came at a cost. my own Torkoal (Pyro) had perished when facing Flannerys one, an Overheat proving too much for it. (I left the Gym and entered the desert and picked up a Trpinch and a Claw Fossal. I also caught a Machop in the Jagged Pass. I then went back to Petalburg and faced my Dad, Norman. olt had grown to be a real powerhouse in my team and dispatched Normans Spinda with no trouble. Vigoroth was eventually worn down by Mercury (Skarmory) although repeated Critical hit Slashs had takin its toll on my steel bird since it was now sitting on about 1/2 of its health. Linnnone was taken down by Judo (Machoke) and Slaking suffered the same fate. Soon after however, Maximum's luck ran out being oneshotted by a lower level Hariyama's crit Vital Throw.

I made my way to Forrtree City where I managed to get a Castform (caster) from the Weather Institute there. I also caught an Absol (Shadow) just after Forrtree City before taking a break from my challenge.

Part 1: On my way to Petalburg
Part 2: Nuzlocke becoming easier

Okay, writing stories isn't my best talent, so I'll stick to short facts.
Sumbrera learned Absorb (Hello free in-battle heals!) and decimates all wild pokes.
Arrived in Petalburg, healed up, headed to the gym.
Saw Wally catch a Ralts (why does he gets a Ralts and I get a Lotad?)
Wally didn't nickname Ralts (He broke the rules, ban him!)
Went to Route 104, encountered a Poochyena (Crap), killed him (Even more Crap)
Pervert learned Water Gun
Petalburg Woods gave me a Shroomish (the game needed to make up for that Poochyena...), nicknamed him Champignon (it just fitted)
It's Jolly!

Petalburg Gym will be easy, having Lotad, Shroomish and Mudkip

Current Party
Champigon the Shroomish, lvl 6
Grim the Poochyena, lv 7
Sumrera the Lotad, lvl 8
Pervert the Mudkip, lvl 10

Boxed
Arthur the Zigzagoon, lvl 5

I was expecting to take Soul to the Elite Four, it broke my heart when he died. R.I.P.

Sluggerama (Shellos) Level 9

I only liked Sluggerama because of his name. R.I.P.

Hallowed (Bronzor) Level 15

WAH. This was going to be my ticket to beat Gardenia, but I was training it up on Meditites and hurt one alot while it was Biding, I tried to flee but I was too slow and it released its energy all over Hallowed. R.I.P.

Alright! This sounds fun. I'll start one on my Gold version. :D

EDIT: Wait, scratch that. Apparently, my save battery is DIED. LeafGreen it is.
EDIT2: I FOUND MY BLUE VERSION AND IT'S NOT DIED O: But I still have my old file... I AM EMOTIONAL WHAT ABOUT IT ;__;

Oh and yeah, new and stuff. Hello world.

Update on my FireRed. Short version: Reach Misty but loose two new pokemon along the way.

-To Route 2! And I get a Pidgey, named Sam. Grind a bit to get Gust.
-Viridan Forest, my first encounter is Kakuna. Second encounter is Pikachu. Otherwise I make it through without incident.
-Brock is a breeze thanks to Squirt’s Bubble.
-My Kakuna evolves while fighting the trainers on Route 3.
-Go into the grass on Route 3 and find another Pidgey (Mike). Second encounter is Nidoran-M. It’s like the game doesn’t want me to get the good stuff.
-Grind a bit before heading into Mt. Moon. When I do I catch a Zubat named Bats. Bats later dies to a wild Paras thanks to Effect Spore’s paralysis and a crit Scratch. The rest of the cave isn’t eventful, though I realized I need to get variety in my move sets since Squirt’s water attacks were all I had to use against a trainer’s Mangemite.
-Route 4 I catch an Ekans named Apophis.
-I fight Gary and win (Squirt evolves), take on Nugget Bridge and Mike evolves to Pidgeotto. I try to get an Oddish from Route 24 but find a Caterpie (Kate) instead. Try again on Route 25 and get another Pidgey. I KO this one.
-I swap out Mike for Kate and evolve it to Butterfree, which does well against some trainers on the way to Bill by using Confusion. Then a Hiker’s Onix outspeeds it and KO’s with Rock Throw (it was confused and had only a sliver of health left, so I stayed in). My second loss, and this one I miss (Confusion + Powders would have been helpful).
-I help Bill then head to the gym. I lead with Scout against Misty but Hyper Fang doesn’t do enough and Water Pulse hurts, so I switch out to Squirt and take out both pokemon with Bite.

After a week of not being able to play HG and a lot of training before that I have finally defeated clair. I decided to bring savant into action when I realized that most of my team is weak to hydro pump or they are not good with taking hyper beams. Trained savant until he was a slowbro, then bought some hyper potions and x sp def. When fighting clair's gyrados I put gyra to sleep as much as possible and cursed until attack was maxed out, healing when necessary. After a couple of sp defense boosts, savant proceeded to take out all 4 pokemon in one hit. I realize if kingdra got a critical I would have been screwed. In any case it will take a lot of training until I'm ready for the E4.

Is it necessary to fight ho-oh and if so will he reappear if I defeat him? I might try catching him after I am done with the challenge if he reappears.

AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH
SERGEAAAAANT ;__;

Hmm, I may just try one of these on Ruby. I probably wouldn't make stories or anything cause I'm not creative enough, but it does sound interesting.

EDIT: Yeah, I'm gonna do this on Ruby, using the rules in the first post. I need the ability to buy Pokeballs if I'm gonna make it through this.

EDIT: Quick failure because I thought you didn't fight May when you first met her. I feel like an idiot.

I lost my first time against her too >_>

My Nuzlocke Challenge

Been working on a nuzlocke challenge after a friend linked me to the site, and then I found this thread on smogon :D Wanted to do Diamond, but I couldn't find it so I went for sapphire. I have a fair amount of hand-drawn pages, but the text is hard to read, and it scans somewhat faded ._. But my great writing shall support my poor drawings! I hope... They're kinda choppy, but if you remember the plotline well you'll know what's going on. A ways to go before I get to the elite four...

-- Part 1 Cover
-- Part 2 My Starter!
-- Part 3 MEGACHIKEN!!!
-- Part 4 My... second starter.
-- Part 5 Casualties already.
-- Part 6 Nerrrd!
-- Part 7 Gym badge get!
-- Part 8 Onward to Dewford!

-- Part 11 DO THEM IN ORDER
-- Part 12 Sh*t gets real
-- Part 13 WHY WEEZING?
-- Part 14 More nerrds.
-- Part 15 ♩Under the Sea♩

EDIT: Personal rules
1. If it faints, release it.
2. Catch only first pokemon in every are or don't catch anything there.
3. No fleeing whatsoever.
4. No using any form of healing items.
5. No switching when it tells you what the opponent will send in.

So, since I'm not terribly creative, especially with names, I've decided to take a theme approach to naming. Combine this with my recently found love for the Ace Attorney series, and I get-

The Judge's Hoenn Turnabout!

-Naming myself Judge since he's the one who sits back and watches the whole thing. Plus I've got the whole white hair/white beard thing.

-Since this is Ruby, lets go with my favorite starter in this gen, Torchic. Not to mention this gives me the perfect opportunity...

-Now that I've saved Birch, Torchic officially becomes Phoenix. Hopefully he'll pull just as many crazy turnarounds as his namesake.

-Walking around, training Phoenix. Sucks missing out on these Routes, no Pokeballs. ;_;

-Rematch time May! Now that Phoenix is a couple levels higher and not almost dead from Wingull Water Guns, it's a clean sweep. Almost end up dead from the subsequent wild battles though.

-Got my pokedex. AND POKE BALLS! YES! Time to fill out some more of the cast! Onwards to Route 102!

-Let's see this first new battle... What'll it be. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a Ralts. Even a Seedot would be nice... *encounters Zigzagoon* -_- Well, it's to be expected.

-Let's see, spiky brown hair, funny looking grin, Pickup ability... There's really only one option! You are now Larry! Here's hoping he'll have more luck with what he picks up.

More to come...
