Nuzlocke Challenge

Only if you decide that they are.

The only two mandatory Nuzlocke rules are:

1. Catch the first _____ Pokemon you see in an area. If you don't catch it, too bad.
2. If a Pokemon faints, it cannot be used for the rest of the run.

The blank in the first rule accounts for run variations. For example, a Poison monotype run would have "Catch the first Poison-Type Pokemon in an area." Often the blank is filled with "non-duplicate".

Alright! This sounds fun. I'll start one on my Gold version. :D

EDIT: Wait, scratch that. Apparently, my save battery is DIED. LeafGreen it is.
EDIT2: I FOUND MY BLUE VERSION AND IT'S NOT DIED O: But I still have my old file... I AM EMOTIONAL WHAT ABOUT IT ;__;

Oh and yeah, new and stuff. Hello world.
This is the only reason I don't want to nuzlocke my yellow version.

I picked Charmander again. I KNOW BROCK BLAH BLAH

Well, dead Rattata ;__; I hate poison...
Are Antidotes against the rules?
Catch a Caterpie and power level until it's a butterfree and then confusion spam. Do brock's pokemon even know rock type moves?

As Zowaiyix said there are only two mandatory nuzlocke challenge rules (although, in nuzlocke's comic he seems to follow more unsaid ones), so antidoting is up to you.

In 1st gen he doesn't, but pretty sure he gets Rock Tomb (at the very least) in 3rd gen.

Are Antidotes against the rules?

The two rules posted by Nuzlocke were: Catch the first Pokemon of each area, and nothing else. If you fail, too bad.

If a Pokemon faints, release it.

You can use antidotes if you want. Do what you feel is right.

Been working on a nuzlocke challenge after a friend linked me to the site, and then I found this thread on smogon :D Wanted to do Diamond, but I couldn't find it so I went for sapphire. I have a fair amount of hand-drawn pages, but the text is hard to read, and it scans somewhat faded ._. But my great writing shall support my poor drawings! I hope... They're kinda choppy, but if you remember the plotline well you'll know what's going on. A ways to go before I get to the elite four...

EDIT: Personal rules
1. If it faints, release it.
2. Catch only first pokemon in every are or don't catch anything there.
3. No fleeing whatsoever.
4. No using any form of healing items.
5. No switching when it tells you what the opponent will send in.

Just read through your comics and thought I'd say I found them pretty funny and worth reading! Keep it up!

Ok, short update for my Scramblocke:

No deaths since the Pokemon League
All Pokemon lv.50-lv.55
Beaten 14 gyms, only have Blaine and Blue left to fight.
....Evolved Magneton.... and thats about it.

Hey, I started a Nuzlocke for Fire Red. My starter was a squirtle which i named destiny.
I'm only using the two basic rules, If a pokemon faints, I put it in the Graveyrd box (cause I'm too wimpy to release them), and only catching the first pokemon in an area.
This is my team, dead and alive.

Destiny (Warturtle) Lv. 30
-Rapid spin
-Withdraw
-Bite
-Water Gun

Sir Sting (Beedrill) Lv. 27

Died:
Aero (Pidgey)

Shadow (Zubat)

Capone (Oddish)

My adventure
was going smoothly,I had caught Aero in Route one, but forgot that route two was separate from route one, and beat the first pokemon there. I caught Sir Sting in Viridian Forest, and Breezed through Brock with Destiny. I caught Another Pidgey (Widgit) in the route right before mount Moon. I was annoyed that I now had two Pidgies, and Aero was stronger. I caught a Zubat in Mount Moon, and named it Shadow. I beat all the grunts But it left all my pokemon at Yellow health or lower. When I saw the Scientist-Looking guy, I assumed he would say, "Thanks for saving me from Team Rocket! Here's a Rock!", then lead me to the exit. I was wrong. He said "There all mine!" and challenged me to a battle. I thought, "You can keep your stupid rocks, I don't really want them." but it was too late. Voltorb took down Shadow, and Aero sought vengance and beat the Voltorb. Koffing then beat Aero, the first pokemon I caught. Destiny was infuriated, then destroyed Koffing. The Fossil guy then said "I'll Share!" I said "If you think giving me a rock is going to make up for what you did, you're wrong!"
In the route to the left of Cerulean I caught Killer. I was kind of disappointed, but then i learned Hyper Fang, and that's pretty cool. I destroyed Misty with an Oddish I had just caught (Capone). I decided to go with him into diglette tunnel. I was literally one step away from the exit when a diglette attacks me. Absorb Dosen't beat it, and it killed Capone with magnitude. Lt. surge was a piece of cake.
In the route left of lavender, i caught a growlithe (Inferno). I just visited Pokemon tower to pey respects to Aero, Shadow, and Capone

I released my Rattata 'cause I'm manly as hell. no i'm not

I got through Viridian Forest. yay
POWER GRINDING METAPOD AND PIDGEY GOOO

Edit: ...I lost to Brock. wut. I AM SUCH A GODDAMN NOOB. Yeah, I know, power grinding, I only took Metapod (Butterfree) to lv. 10.

Never give up?

I am halfwayish through a leafgreen nuzlocke. I'm only posting now cause I'm lazy. I will do a comic, I just need to up my drawing a lot. I'll give a rundown of the pokes I have caught in order of when I got them. Hopefully that will tell my story.

Nick Jones (Charmeleon) lv. 30 Alive
Adamant
Ember
Rock Slide
Metal Claw
Growl
My starter poke. Thanks to the excess of early bug catchers, he was lv 22 at Cerulean. Then over the course of Cerulean and Vermillion, he did nothing and gained two levels. In Rock Cave he got Rock slide, then quickly shot up in levels. I am anticipating the upcoming Charizard in the next gym or so.

Constance (Rattata) lv 3 Dead
Nothing to say here. Just caught it and it died to a crit. It was a reminder this was no ordinary run-through.

Arashi (Pikachu) lv 11 Dead
Died right before Mt. Moon to a crit quick attack I wasn't expecting. He was my plan for Misty so it shock me. I had only Grimlin and Nick Jones to take care of Misty so I was in so serious trouble when he died.

Grimlin (Mankey) lv 19 Dead
A valiant warrior, he trashed Brock for me. With a Pikachu and Charmander, I couldn't have done it without him. He died catching a Diglit for me thanks to a surprise high magnitude.

Rockstar (Wigglytuff) lv 33 Dead
Hasty
Mega Kick
Brick Break
Sing
Counter
He has just fallen about thirty minutes ago. And with him falls an era. I caught him at lv 5 when my other two (Grimlin and Nick Jones) were 15+. My only plan for Misty died and I caught a underleveled puffball with no attacks. I got a moon stone in Mt. Moon and the tutor gave him Mega Kick. I switch grinded a few levels, then he did the rest. Saying Mega Kick was impressive is an understatement. He was my switch when I had no idea what to do. He took care of anything the slipped through the "It's Super Effective!" cracks on my team (which was a lot). So much of team could deal with fighting pokes, he had no problems. With Brick Break, he filled Grimlin's shoes in dealing with rocks. He finally died to Giovanni's Kangaskhan. He was minus one defense, but I stayed in to Brick Break. I forgot about Mega punch and he was taken out. As the titan of my early game, he will be remembered forever.

Ulquiorra (Golbat) lv 29 Alive
Brave
Aerial Ace
Astonish
Confuse Ray
Bite
Until I found TM Aerial Ace, he had no good moves. He was boxed for forever. He is relatively new to the team. He leveled up quick in the Pokemon Tower beating Channelers with bite. In this time of loss he has proved himself again and again.

Cona (Fearow) lv 29 Dead
The second of my powerful pokes to fall in the last half hour. I kept him a Spearow until level 25 to learn Aerial Ace, and was a major player in my team. Actually pretty bulky, with a great attack. Died to a revenge from a Machoke that wasn't supposed to survive. With him and Rockstar down, 1/3 my working team went down.

Ben (Beedrill) lv 20 Dead
I grinded him to 20 for Cerulean gym, but died to Starmie's crit swift. I wanted to have a beginner bug in the end, but it wasn't ment to be.

Carnivore (Bellsprout) lv 13 Alive
Flash
Cut
Victrebell just isn't that great.

Swimmy (Magicarp) lv 5 Boxed
Gyarados isn't that great either when his best moves are no STAB normal.

Wack (Dugtrio) lv 27 Alive
Calm
Magnitude
Dig
Fury Swipes
Scratch
He owned Surge hands down. I haven't used him since but with the lack of rockstar and Cona he will see some usage.

Aizen (Hypno) lv 30 Alive
Hardy
Headbutt
Hypnosis
Meditate
Confusion
He became a hypno right before Rockstar died. He also has resin to the challenge left by Rockstar and Cona. Meditate is sorta filler because he doesn't have much else yet. I might keep it if he learns good physical moves.

Brick (Sandshrew) lv 15 Boxed
Sandslash isn't that great.

Flappy (Spearow) lv 16 Boxed
Was outclassed by Cona, now outclassed by Ulquiorra.

Shinigami (Gastly) lv 15 Alive
The newest member of my team. He is going to by grinded for a long time. He will help to fill the void left by Rockstar and Cona.

So thats it. As you can see Rockstar leaving the stage has changed everything. Although I'm heartbroken, it gives the other member's of my team a chance to prove themselves. I hope you read my comic, even if it isn't that great of drawing. Good luck to everyone else out there doing the challenge!

After through some of the stuff on here, I am intrigued to do it myself on Leaf Green. I don't have the skills to draw or anything like that, but I can try to make colorful stories to keep those engaged. I will most likely update periodically.

Rules I'm playing by:
1. If a pokemon faints, I'm boxing it forever
2. I will catch the first unique pokemon in each area. If I defeat it, nothing from that area.
3. Obviously if you run out of pokemon, you must start again.
4. I'll nickname all the pokemon I catch.
5. Won't buy any HP items (Potions, Super Positions, etc) until the Elite 4. I will use any I find in battle though.
6. Battle Mode is on Set.
