Moves
========

Stone Edge is Lycanroc's strongest STAB attack, allowing it to hit foes that don't resist it like Mesprit and Skuntank for a good amount of damage.
Accelerock is used for threatening Pokemon capable of outspeeding Lycanroc such as Floatzel and for picking off faster foes such as Choice Scarf Swanna and Scyther. Toxic punishes bulky foes that can take Stone Edge such as Regirock, Mudsdale, Quagsire, and Gastrodon by putting them on a timer. Toxic also allows Lycanroc to punish setup sweepers like Carracosta. Similarly, Taunt shuts down defensive Pokemon such as Regirock and Mesprit, preventing them from setting up entry hazards, while also disabling other status moves like Silvally-Fairy's Defog and Audino's Wish and Toxic.

Set Details
========

Lycanium Z turns Stone Edge into a powerful nuke that allows Lycanroc to break through Pokemon like Alolan Sandslash that would otherwise be able to remove its entry hazards. Steadfast allows Lycanroc to gain a +1 Speed boost on a Fake Out from Kangaskhan. A Jolly nature is preferred to outspeed Alolan Raichu, Froslass, and Dodrio.

Usage Tips
========

Lycanroc can find wallbreaking opportunities mid- to late-game against offensive and balanced teams once it has set up Stealth Rock and its checks like Gurdurr, Mudsdale, and Claydol have been either severely crippled or weakened. Wallbreaking shouldn't be Lycanroc's main priority, though; it should aim to set up Stealth Rock and check Pokemon like Simisear before it starts looking for wallbreaking opportunities. The optimal time for Lycanroc to set up Swords Dance or Stealth Rock is against a Pokemon that it threatens out like Scyther and Dodrio. However, if you expect a bulky foe like Claydol or Regirock to come in, you should use Toxic to wear it down. Lycanroc should use Accelerock to hit faster Pokemon like Choice Scarf Swanna and revenge kill a weakened +1 Speed Lilligant. Lastly, Lycanroc should try to preserve its Z-Move for a scenario where it needs to OHKO a Pokemon that Stone Edge would miss out on or when it needs to break through a Pokemon like Regirock for a teammate instead of wasting it early-game.

Team Options
========

Lycanroc fits best on teams that require an offensive entry hazard setter and a way of keeping faster foes in check to pressure common entry hazard setters like Mesprit and Froslass. Pokemon that appreciate entry hazard support like Lilligant, Primeape, and Kangaskhan make for good partners, as chip damage allows them to break through bulky foes more easily. Wallbreakers such as Stoutland and Drampa can aid Lycanroc in breaking down bulky Pokemon like Regirock and Quagsire, while Lycanroc can break down Tangela and Clefairy for them. Drampa is also able to pivot into Water- and Grass-type attacks from Pokemon like Ludicolo and Lilligant for Lycanroc. Lycanroc appreciates entry hazard support and completes a potent offensive core with the likes of Froslass and Qwilfish. Froslass and Qwilfish are also able to check Fighting-types like Hitmonchan and Gurdurr for Lycanroc. Froslass can also block Rapid Spin from spinners like Hitmonchan and Claydol, while Qwilfish can set up Toxic Spikes and wear down foes like Regirock more easily for Lycanroc.

Moves
========
  • Stone Edge is Lycanroc's strongest STAB attack, allowing it to hit unresisted foes like Mesprit and Skuntank for a good amount of damage.
  • Accelerock is used for threatening the few Pokemon capable of outspeeding Lycanroc such as Alolan Persian and Floatzel, and for picking off foes such as Choice Scarf Swanna and Scyther.
  • Toxic punishes foes that take Stone Edge from Lycanroc such as Regirock, Mudsdale, Quagsire, and Gastrodon by putting them on a timer. Toxic also punishes Carracosta if it tries to set up on Lycanroc.
  • Taunt shuts down defensive Pokemon such as Regirock and Mesprit, preventing them from setting up entry hazards, while also disabling other status moves like Silvally-Fairy's Defog and Audino's Wish and Toxic.
Set Details
========
  • Steadfast allows Lycanroc to gain a +1 Speed boost on a predicted Fake Out from Kangaskhan. "predicted" is a weird word choice, u cant switch in and get the boost (u wont flinch because ur turn was the switch) and ur not really doing any "predicting" by staying in vs a kangaskhan and hitting stone edge or w/e
  • A Jolly nature is preferred to outspeed Alolan Raichu, Froslass, and Dodrio.
  • Lycanium Z turns Stone Edge into a powerful nuke that allows Lycanroc to break many Pokemon that don't resist it.
Usage Tips
========

  • Lycanroc can find wallbreaking opportunities mid-late game against offensive and balanced teams once it has set up Stealth Rock and its checks like Gurdurr, Mudsdale, and Claydol have been either severely crippled or weakened. i would emphasize that wallbreaking is not its primary goal, this is a rocks setter that also gets to check fast things like simisear and nuke stuff
  • The optimal time for Lycanroc to set up Swords Dance or Stealth Rock is when you expect a Pokemon that it threatens like Scyther and Dodrio to switch out.
  • Lycanroc should try to preserve its Z-move for a scenario where it needs to OHKO a Pokemon that Stone Edge would miss out on or when it needs to break through a Pokemon like Regirock for a teammate instead of wasting it early-game.
  • Use Accelrock against faster Pokemon like Choice Scarf Swanna and to revenge kill +1 Speed Lilligant.
  • Since Lycanroc has subpar bulk, it should be brought onto the field using a slow VoltTurn user, on a predicted double switch, or when a teammate faints. it's not a mon that requires longevity. like if u pivot it into an attack it probably won't come in again, but it doesn't always have to, which is a decent facet of the mon, knowing when u can essentially give it up
  • Lastly, Lycanroc should use Toxic or Taunt against bulky foes like Claydol and Regirock to pressure them and wear them down for its teammates.
Team Options
========

  • Lycanroc fits best on teams that require an offensive entry hazard setter to pressure common entry setters like Mesprit and Froslass. Pokemon that appreciate entry hazard support like Lilligant, Primeape, and Kangashan make for good partners, as chip damage allows them to break through bulky foes more easily. it also fits best on teams that really need rocks and some form of speed control, since the next fastest rocker is like, mesprit lol
  • Wallbreakers such as Stoutland and Drampa can aid Lycanroc in breaking down bulky Pokemon like Regirock and Quagsire, while Lycanroc can break down Tangela and Alolan Sandslash for them. Drampa is also able to pivot into Water- and Grass-type attacks from Pokemon like Ludicolo and Lilligant for Lycanroc.
  • Lycanroc also appreciates entry hazard support and completes a potent offensive core with the likes of Froslass and Qwilfish. Froslass and Qwilfish are also able to check Fighting-types like Hitmonchan and Gurdurr for Lycanroc, while Qwilfish can set Toxic Spikes and wear down foes like Regirock more easily for Lycanroc.
  • VoltTurn users such as Mesprit, Eelektross, and Lanturn also are good partners for Lycanroc, as they can bring it onto the field safely and lure in passive Pokemon like Clefairy for Lycanroc to take advantage of. Mesprit also provides Healing Wish support, giving Lycanroc second life, while also providing additional Stealth Rock support if needed. Lanturn can also provide Heal Bell support, removing any status from Lycanroc in case it gets worn down or crippled by status. i don't think volt is super necessary, like it's nice the same as it is for any mon but this is a lot of time to dedicate to an average throwaway supporter
  • Lastly, due to Lycanroc's susceptibility to being worn down fast, it appreciates entry hazard removers such as Hitmonchan and Skuntank. Skuntank can also Pursuit trap Pokemon like Golurk and Claydol that Lycanroc has a hard time getting past. nah this thing really doesnt need removal, it isnt coming in over and over. it only needs removal to the extent that literally everything doesnt mind it, but this point just becomes really unnecessary and redundant
