Welcome to the third edition of the Official Smogon Doubles Tournament! This year's format will be a Bo3 SV Doubles OU swiss tournament with a top cut, in which the winner walks away with the OSDT trophy

Rules & Tournament Format

General Tournament Rules
  • This is a standard SV DOU tournament.
  • OSDT III will be a swiss tournament with a to be determined top cut size depending on signups.
    • Players will be automatically dropped when they hit three losses as they are no longer in contention for top cut.
    • Players will be assigned a random opponent out of the pool of players with the same record as you each round.
  • Rounds will be Best of Three. You may switch teams in between battles of the same set.
  • Matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown!. If you can't agree on which server to play on, the Smogtours server is the default option.
  • Replays are required and must be posted every round.
  • There are no extensions, so please get your games done on time.
  • Your hosts are TPP, Theia, bunnyy, Lady Salamence
Activity Decisions / Coin Flips: In the event that there is an uncompleted match at the deadline, it will be coin flipped unless one or both of the players involved in the match specifically request an activity win and explain sufficiently why they deserve to win over their opponent. Attempting to schedule a battle is required in order to receive the win by activity. To make it clear that you are requesting an activity win when you post, you must open your post with "Activity Win Request" in bold.

For example, if you believe your opponent is making an unfair request and that they don't deserve the activity win over you, you can either make your own request or quote their post and explain why they don't deserve it. You should try to make your activity win request posts at least 24 hours before the deadline to give your opponent a reasonable opportunity to contest it with their own activity win request.

In case of disconnections, if you played in the SmogTours server, call a Tournament Director as soon as possible and we'll see about the possibility of having a rematch.
Prize

Courtesy of the Pokemon Showdown! Upper Staff, in addition to the trophy, the winner of OSDT III will win an additional prize. The winner will have a choice of receiving a Custom Avatar or reclaiming an inactive username on Pokemon Showdown!, with the runner-up receiving the option not chosen by the winner.

Two strong long-terms players will be looking to put in a powerful performance in this new metagame. zee is renowned for their all-around strong play in a wide variety of Doubles tiers and best known for their VGC involvement, while Mizuhime recently proved herself very capable in SV with a 4-2 record in DPL.

Ann vs MADARAAAA -- Saturday 9pm GMT+2 -- casted by eragon11145 & GenOne
MADARAAAA, whose game was covered in Round 1, faces another formidable foe in Ann who has been bossing Doubles with a 7-3 record in 2023 team tournaments and a strong Classic to be 13-4 on the year. Ann also posts 14-4 all-time OSDT record against MADARAAAA's 13-3.

NinjaSnapple vs GenOne -- Saturday 2pm -7 -- casted by smudgerox & papiloco
NinjaSnapple will be looking to add another win to his current 7-4 all-time OSDT record against a resident Doubles art slave and tournament dark horse in GenOne, who has been performing consistently well with a 4-4 DPL 9 record and an all-time 10-3 OSDT performance.

Spurrific vs Memoric -- Saturday 10pm -4 -- casted by Lunar. & Z Strats
Round 2's definite highlight matchup is between Spurrific and Memoric, the two managers of DPL 9's Tohjo Tramplers. Together they have combined for a 19-2 record in 2023 Doubles team tournaments so far, and are both looking to win their first SV silverware.

RelicanthPrimal vs Amaranth -- Sunday 9pm +2 -- casted by GenOne & Bless
RelicanthPrimal has an all-time 11-4 OSDT record and is going up against Amaranth who is no SV slouch himself; posting a 4-1 record in DWCOP III contributing to Team Italy's great season.
