xatu. i shit you not, is the mon ive used on almost every non bh team, and not just because i like it. its just a good mon in general. though i mostly play bh, so technically speaking, its registeel, since bh is a clusterfuck of ates and gale wings atm. and regi is just a good mon in general
my heart will always be devoted to pre-oras-pre-EV limit XY bh. but since thats probably not relivant enough to mention, so id say mix and mega. which is ironic considering i consider the megas a "waste of time" and wish they would "just dissapear as a gimmick they accept was bad" but i guess, if everything is broken, nothing is. as the saying goes.
So would you say that your Xatu is your Shadow Tag? Because you can't escape from it?

How did you come up with your username? Will you ever just shorten it to "bb" just for me ;)?
I enjoy bacon and have always liked the Salamence line I guess. Retrospectively it's a really awful username but I guess 12 year old me didn't have the best judgment around

What was your first ever Pokemon experience? How did you get into competitive Pokemon?

As for the actual games, I think I witnessed my friend playing Gold a long time ago. Back then I wasn't aware of the competitive possibilities and just watched Typhlosion tearing up opposing teams. I also wasn't aware that one day this addicting game would take over my free time and slowly drain away all my passion for life but that's alright

What is your favorite playstyle and why?
Offense, I guess I prefer hyper offense overall as it's really mindless and fun, which is basically why I play Pokemon in the first place. I also have really bad long-term perceptions of games and often end up sacking the completely wrong mon in a longer game. Overall making ballsy plays and relentlessly pushing for momentum appeals to me a lot. I have to mention bulky offense here as well though as having something (read: Landorus-T and Rotom-W) to fall back on is helpful. Having hazards down and then watching a setup sweeper such as SD Terrakion or DD Garchomp punch through the opposing team is also really satisfying.
What Pokemon do you use the most in STABmons? What is your favorite Pokemon in STABmons (if it is different than the first answer)?
Yeah my most used Pokemon has to be Landorus-T. Defensive is just so absurdly good and switches into everything. Scarf is very nice too, as outspeeding Mega Lopunny is great and U-turn is incredibly clickable. Actually I use this Pokemon so much it's a little gross
My favourite Pokemon in the meta used to be Kyurem-B D:
but now I guess it has to be Mega Scizor, which has so many options at its disposal. The fact that the opponent doesn't know how to deal with it - it could be offensive SD, bulky SD with Roost, defensive with Defog or Sticky Web, or even regular Scizor with CB / offensive LO or Lum SD / fat SD with Leftovers - forces a lot of undesirable situations. It also patches up defensive weaknesses really nicely with its fantastic defensive stats and great typing. I also enjoy using Weavile and Keldeo. Generally, I'm a big fan of Ice-type coverage and even though Weavile loses to a lot of Pokemon, it's capable of ripping apart defensive cores for its teammates to finish up by removing items, Pursuit trapping, and surprising Tyranitar with Low Kick or Azumarill with Poison Jab or whatever while outspeeding a huge portion of the metagame and hitting pretty hard for a priority attack with Sucker Punch. The explanation for Keldeo is a little simpler
What is the most broken move/s for each type, if possible, in your opinion?
Normal - without a doubt Extreme Speed. I think all Boomburst users are manageable in their own way, especially with Porygon-Z gone, but trying to prepare for Ursaring, Mega Lopunny, Braviary, Stoutland, Kangaskhan, Snorlax, Azumarill etc. is pretty dumb imo
Fighting - I don't know about broken, but Secret Sword is a generally a fantastic move as it kills Chansey :D Mega Medicham's High Jump Kick is also a good move
Flying - this is similar as nothing stands out as banworthy but Oblivion Wing is an absolutely incredible move and also makes Thundurus super annoying
Poison - er the worst thing offered by this type is just the status condition itself I guess, being badly poisoned is gross
Ground - nothing's broke but Precipice Blades is a great move. Just wish it would hit more
Rock - sneaky pebbles
Bug - definitely U-turn, as it's so easy to spam and provides such great rewards. It's not really broken though. Tail Glow and Quiver Dance are also great moves. Someday I will bring Tail Glow Volcarona and win
Ghost - nothing really stands out. However I have a theory that some random Game Freak employee saw STABmons while browsing Smogon and thought haha I'll give Doublade No Guard literally the one ability that makes Shadow Force useless lol
Steel - Shift Gear was terrifying to face in every way so thankfully it's gone. I guess Doom Desire is a pretty great move. However the honour of being the most broken Steel-type move has to go to Jirachi's Iron Head
Fire - you just can't switch into V-create. You just can't
Water - I think Steam Eruption is pretty broken. There's already a load of controversy revolving around Scald and its presence in OU, but the extra 20 BP really takes it to the next level. Switching in is ridiculous because everything gets worn down and then Pursuit trapped, allowing Keldeo to go insane on the opponent's team
Grass - Spore is probably the closest to banworthy, but the natural limitations of Grass-types makes it alright to deal with. Also Seed Flare is a pretty great move
Electric - in the same vein as Bug I'll go with Volt Switch. Once they get stuck in the VoltTurn vortex it's like the Ice Climbers chaingrab - they're never getting out
Psychic - Psystrike is cool and very solid, but not broken. Hmm Psycho Boost and Stored Power are also really good on the right mons, Trick Room is hilariously fun but runs out way too quickly, Gravity is something I've enjoyed playing around wi- oh right yeah it's Jirachi's Heart Stamp
Ice - used to be Kyurem-B's Icicle Crash but now nothing really stands out tbh
Dragon - Draco Meteor is hell to switch into and Latios kills / takes a chunk out of all the common Pursuit trappers (except for AV Meta). Dragon Dance is great as well, I love how it makes Dragonite / Garchomp / Mega Charizard X / Gyarados / Mega Gyarados / Zygarde / Salamence / Latios / Hydreigon etc. dangerous physically offensive threats
Dark - probably Knock Off at this point in time, removing items while delivering a hard hit is fantastic
Fairy - maybe Moonblast if I had to put it down to one move, Fairy moves are pretty meh in general. Light of Ruin will be cool when it comes
Do you have anything to tell players, new and old, about how to learn or get into STABmons?
Hmm pay a lot of attention to how top OU teams work and then try to create the same kind of synergetic relationships in your own teams that are suited to the meta I guess. Also ask me for lordsquads and play a lot: it's what got White Lion18 to the finals of the Open despite being a dong Battle Factory player
What are you most known for (doesn't have to be Pokemon related but can be)?
I'm not sure I'm known for anything. My country of citizenship and age seem to be frequently referenced by others though. Actually it might be my own terrible username
What players do you look up to or are really good friends with?
Joshz manages to win games despite not actually ever using his brain which is pretty fascinating. ellipse showed me the secrets of the metagame. wishes always brings fresh teams and has been really encouraging and helpful since day one. Eevee General does a great job of managing the metagame which is really cool, as it's ended up fun and balanced. Both Kl4ng and w0rd show incredible consistency in multiple metagames and both have a single number taking the place of a letter in their name. Coincidence? I think not
as for non-STABmons players, I look up to Zangooser as her ability to crit, flinch, burn, paralyse, fully paralyse, win speed ties, etc. every time is absolutely incredible.

Inheritance, Hemiswap, Haxmons, Suicide Cup, Metagamiate, No Guard Galaxy, Protean Palace, VoltTurn Mayhem, and Poison
I noticed that Kyurem-Black and Porygon-Z were recently banned in STABmons. What does this mean going for the meta itself and how do you feel about this ban?
Well firstly I'm SUPER SALTY about this ban. Mindlessly clicking moves and OHKOing everything was very fun
I think basically everything has an easier time after the ban. The classic Landorus-T / Rotom-W cores do have a notably easier time, and being able to use offensive Electric-types other than Thundurus without Kyurem-B effortlessly Dragon Dancing in their faces is nice. Also I don't have to run Scarf Jirachi / Terrakion / Scarf Tyranitar / Mega Scizor / other similar mons on every team now. I think bulkier offenses have a great time now without worrying about the most ridiculous setup sweeper and the absurdly strong revenge killer running around, although they could use the Pokemon themselves. Sadly, hyper offense just isn't what it used to be.
Can you post a team with of your favorite playstyle with a brief explanation on how it works?
Can't really thing of anything better than some bog standard Volcanion offense. Fire-type wallbreakers are some of my favourite Pokemon to use because both V-create and Blue Flare are ridiculous! Anyway Volc can get a burn or a kill almost every time it comes in healthy. Latios breaks down other walls while providing Defog support. It has Roost to keep healthy while opposing Keldeo burn it. Scarf Tyranitar traps Latios, Latias, and Gengar and can trap / weaken / remove the Eviolite of Chansey. Defensive Landorus-T takes on a load of offensive threats such as Scarf Terrakion. Fat SD Mega Scizor is really dangerous late-game and patches up the Weavile weakness while providing more security versus Normal-types, especially Ice Punch Mega Lopunny. Finally, Keldeo provides additional muscle versus fatmons, appreciates Volc destroying bulky Grass-types, and helps with Weavile more. I chose HP Electric to act as more security for Water-types, as Volcanion can switch in to them but often fails to deal enough damage back.

Whenever I see a Bagon I desperately want to feed it and make it happy while shiny Yveltal just looks tasty. Also Bagon is a far more viable choice in a typical AG game

I still don't get why anyone could ever consider Ocarina of Time to be a better game overall when Twilight Princess HD has great dungeons, solid graphics, easily the best storyline in the series, and Midna. Spirit Tracks is the second best in the series because of the train whistle

Probably Mega Diancie, as it's viable (and good I think?) in BH, solid enough in Ubers-based metagames, and remains legal in OU-based metagames. I think it's interesting how its great attacking stats and decent Speed allow it to consistently remain viable. Resistance to Extreme Speed is also pretty vital in OMs
Best OM that never won OMotM?
This is pretty tough as there's a lot, Hemiswap I guess. I think it's got a lot of potential to be really interesting. Also forgot to mention above that I think XY Weather Wars is pretty great

I think once you get used to OU or something trying to pick up BH is really hard. That shouldn't stop anyone from doing it though, as it seems really enjoyable to a lot of people - battles are just so wildly different from "regular" ones.
Most annoying pokemon to face in STABmons? Not necessarily strong or fast or dangerous, just something you groan at when you see it against you.
It's a three-way tie between Jirachi, Togekiss, and Stockpile Gastrodon. I once got 6-0ed by the latter and I'll never forget it

Thoughts on the metagame w/o Thundurus?
It would be really weird tbh. It's just so good and it would make way for a bunch of weird things - less FakeSpeed, more Specs Keldeo? Overall I think I'd rather come back and play gen 6 STABmons with Thundurus as opposed to without. It keeps a bunch of important things in check and is an exceptionally threatening setup sweeper that forces opponents to preserve checks, but it's still vulnerable to priority and Scarf users so I don't think it's really broken

The Japanese name for Sunsteel Strike is Meteor Drive apparently, so I think it'll be Steel-type. Moongeist Beam seems like it'll be Ghost-type. Both moves seem a little reckless, so they could have average accuracy. Alternatively I think full accuracy (that is, skipping the check like Aura Sphere) could be a possibility, and it would be interesting. Not sure what BP would be like, maybe both will be 110 or 120. Feel like it would be wrong if they didn't stick to the one physical / one special which would probably be Strike / Beam in this case. If this does work out, a stronger Steel-type move for Bisharp, Metagross, etc. would be really neat and I imagine Gengar would be terrifying. If Aegislash is freed it'll become the coolest mixed attacker around. The other effect listed - ignoring the opponent's ability - also sounds great, as attackers would have a built in Mold Breaker to negate Unaware, Multiscale, Sturdy, etc. Also imo Full Metal Body should be Fire immunity + Clear Body while Shadow Shield should be Ghost immunity + Multiscale. That would be kinda neat

Both would hate Yveltal, Darkrai, Arceus-Dark, Arceus-Ghost, Giratina-O, and Mega Gengar. I don't think the current Ubers metagame is a great place for these Pokemon, but we don't know what kind of stats they have and sets they'll run so it'll be interesting to see how it works out.

I think the Smogon community is pretty great, and from the little I've seen of other Pokemon forums I think Smogon looks the most polished overall. Definitely, really cool metagame that offers much more and much less options than STABmons at the same time, making it wildly different. Some of the possibilities are just great and I think it's fun in general
