Tournament OMPL VII - Commencement Thread

Is there a player in the OM community that could even possibly EVEN TOUCH Lasen? Let alone defeat him. And I'm not talking about OM Snake 2 Lasen. I'm not talking about Jirachis player and franchise podcast youtuber Lasen. Hell, I'm not even talking about OM World Cup Stabmons player Lasen. I'm talking about peak performance UPL 6 Mukkers Lasen (who defeated Hack) while he is the active player and driving force behind every BW Ubers decision from the last two years, now with his implanted all time positive Meme W/L in UPL 7, supercharged after a late night call with Skysolo and the gang Lasen. Yes, the Lasen who has created every "good" meme for the past tournaments he's been in. (which aren't actually that impressive but nevertheless). #Justice4Lasen

#1 Head Honchkrows, led by jrdn and tzop

this is the best team in the tour for me personally. it makes excellent use of jrdn's skills by helping out aesf and rozes in stab and aaa, while being a good test partner for cata/skysolo too in mnm. Ag is easily covered with PG + cata's help and sugarhigh was a finalist in bh open + a loser, so...go figure. skysolo is an excellent mnm player, and with some help with teams from cata and jrdn, he could easily start in that meta too. rawmelon top tier zu player. idk about TJ, but he jrdn's friend so w/e. The best team literally never wins ompl fsr, but i think it will be different this time around.

#2 Klink Shammers, led by chloe and pigeons

Solid picks all around. Volk and mlove covers bh excellently. Not really sure who will start, but either of them are a good choice, and mlove also used to be a top 3 aaa player so thats nice too. speaking of aaa, there are 2 excellent players with hassin and plas, but they will need support with teams because they lack in that area, but a lot of players in that team play aaa at a moderately high level, including chazm and even chloe herself so i think that area is covered too. AG is an overkill with arushi, grn + pigeon's help, so we can expect good results. Chazm is a top tier mnm player, so idt we gonna have many problems there. stab looks a little weird, but idrk how good KuraiTenshi26 is so im not gonna judge it rn. Zu is cool too. honestly, an excellent team overall and I'm predicting it to go to finals or at least semis.

#3 Money Magearnas, led by funbot and regirock

the team looks weird at first hand, but as u analyze it more carefully, its actually pretty nice. Stresh + gman covers mnm, sylveon covers aaa. Mz + cro covers ag. Stab is kind of fishy, but funbot is one of the best builders in that tier, and Cam can do some wonders in it with em. LPY and rest covers zu. Now when it comes to bh, its a bit fucky. they dont have a dedicated bh player, but both funbot and regirock builds for the meta at a high level, and from my experience, how well ur team is matched up vs ur opponent is the major deciding factor to winning the games. altho that might be tru, the player still needs to play okay, so idk if it will work out for em.

#4 Metro Boomin Rayquazas, led by deg and powerlessly (thats a really gay name btw)

Talonflame 2.0 or 0.5? idk but seems good on paper. Lax for aaa, and hunter + donno in ag is a blessing. Jeran is, altho nice in mnm, idk how good he will do in it alone. All the tour players, are nice esp finch. idk if he can build for zu or nah, but even if no, he can prob get teams from anyone and just use em, so that area is covered. nyan kat is a nice bh choice. idk how active he is so im not really expecting much tbh. solid draft overall. could win the whole thing imo, or finish last with 0 wins, time will tell. lot of uncertainty with the team, so only #4 as of now

#5 Bedroom Blissey, led by the immortal, and his assistent willdbeast

he had an amazing start. Andy with ith's help is hands down the best mnm combo in the draft, ham a top 3 aaa player, bacon and holy break, 2 solid players who will definitely try hard imo, which is always nice. Mamp, an og bh player. stab is meh, but ith can prob get a win or two in the tier. pretty solid zu pick, but the questionable stab pick will hurt.
stab is yuck, and ag one is just slightly below most, so only #5, but still has a good chance to get to finals

#6 Socialist Sobbles, led by markk and anaconja.

with mark's help, any foreseen rust with qt when it comes to teambuilding will vanish, so thats nice. Sabelle is an extremely solid aaa player, just lacks the teams...but there are plenty of solid aaa builders in that squad so i think he fine. idk if its tru or not, but drampa's team is trading away thimo for zesty, meaning thimo + velvet combo will make their ag top tier level. lots of role players, but no top tier stab or bh one. Idk a lot about terra's skill in stab, but if he is as good as he claims to be in, they will be fine. BH is fucky. u could play qt in it, but then u will lack a top tier mnm player, and vice versa. overall all quite a bit a of uncertainty with stab + bh/mnm, so only #5. durza goat

# 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are very closely matched, with #1 being the only one with a noticeably big difference between the rest. the last 2 team im about to mention are significantly worse than the rest.

#7 Temper Tyrantrums , led by drampa and OM

Im assuming that the trade went thru with thimo-zesty. that trade actually improved them a bit, cause ag was already covered with zen/loti, and now they got another much-needed mnm support...but even with that, that meta still lacks compared to the rest of the draft. stab is meh with dr phd in blow jobs. Aaa is pretty solid, but i would not really compare kimbo with ham/jrdn/sylveon level as of yet, but i could very well be wrong about him, idk yet. zu is fine with gen5 but a solid bh pick is nonexistant. disappointing draft

#8 One Star Jolteons, led by ransei and dbw

absolutely garbage draft and is most likely the worst team ive ever laid my eyes on in ompl. only solid part is Skarph, but after that its a downhill. i dont want to mock sl42, but he is simply not on the level of mamp/sugarhigh, spending so much money on him and even nomming him first was a mistake. sectonia as ur mnm starter was a poor choice. there were plenty of other better ones imo, but we shall see how it will turn out. maroon, solid back up player, and can probs play most tiers. heard good things about word but my man hasnt played in 3-4 years so idk. Evigora is a nice zu choice, but racool at aaa is really a meh. used to be a top 3 aaa player, but she is clearly rusty. uni is over for most, so i hope she has more time to invest in aaa. idk, this team just seems very weird.

#1: klinks: great bh pick, great aaa pick, great mnm pick, great ag picks, great zu pick and a several nice options for stab. easily the winner of this draft. all while one of the managers was dealing with a hangover, im never playing drunk uno again.

#2: honchkrows: this team is made great by the fact jrdn supports every slot. stab and bh look a little weak but generally still solid. can't really fault him. idk if tj was the optimal zu sub but hes so cool that i have to forgive that draft.

#3: magearnas: this team looked really threatening until half way through where it looks like they gave up and drafted three subpar bh mains. otherwise good, yes.

#4: blisseys: despite ti having no cash i think he kinda saved himself at the end. and while throughout the whole auction i thought both andy+ith was a bit much, his justification made a bit of sense i guess. plus this slot is only losing mnm one week which gives them a great advantage. idk. not a huge fan of the subs, zu player where (unless u count spitfire arcanine but i wouldn't), i don't think this team is that great overall.

#5: mega rays: im interested to see how this goes. hunter+donno+cynara is great ag albeit very rusty ag, very good stab obv, jeran plays mnm i guess? lax can aaa. where is the bh player. and i seriously mean this where is the bh player. it doesn't exist, it's non-existent, it's just not there, and good luck trying to get a tour player to play that meta well. no disrespect but its just such a weird meta that you kinda need a main for. also whos building for zu? i get the appeal of having players like finch and tony and others but you need to pass them teams and i don't know who on this team is going to do that.

#6: jolteons: weird team. weird draft plan. he said he got all the players he wanted. sl42 is good but idk id rather volt or mamp any day of the week. racool? doesnt play mons anymore. w0rd? doesn't play mons anymore. anna says hi? you guessed it! they don't play mons anymore. this looks like a disaster waiting to happen. skarph is redeeming, idk how good evi is at zu but theyre super cool so ill say theyre good. those subs are really very odd but chaitanya has an xo avi tho so theyre obviously very smart.

#7: sobbles: even tho i love your team name, i cannot bring myself to love your draft. this looks incredibly megazard-esque and i can't force myself to like it. your ag player doesn't want to play ag, so that hurts. quantum /can/ main mnm but hes rusty, hopefully mark's help will be good enough. sabella is nice aaa, czim is nice zu. theres a few metas missing here. who's playing ag? who's playing stab? the subs are whack. i like durza as a zu sub, and zeni as a aaa sub, but otherwise idk what happened here. velvet blood can't play any of these metas, bouff has never played any of these metas, eien can fork off quantum gogoat teams but otherwise idk. i'm not sure what the draft plan was here but it's safe to say they didn't stick to it.

#8: tyrantrums: no no no. i love your ag pick, all 3 of them. you got both zutls? why? tectonicdestroyer? kimbo as a 10k main i just dont know. what are you playing drphdbj in? late game official fissure is good. idk this draft really is a jackson pollock painting.

Worry not Chloé, I, deg, will build zu and BH.

Pre-draft rankings by The Immortal

8) The Socialist Sobbles
It's obvious that Mark K and Anaconja have the least experience out of all the managers. I expect a poor draft due to it being their first time and then it's up to them to make good of what they have. I don't doubt Mark K will be able to support his team well though, but will it be enough?

7) The Klink Shamers
Despite being a solo manager last year and OMPL expanding to 8 teams, Chloe managed to finish top 3, which is quite an achievement. However, she has since quit and returned, and even transitioned to being a PU main now. As a result, I have to question her motivation. As for Pigeons, I asked him if he'd like to manage his own team and he refused; a day later he was suddenly co-managing with Chloe. Someone that indecisive is never going to be a good manager.

6) The Five-Star Jolteons
Ransei went from finalist in OMPL 4 to 7th last year. I expect his bad run of form to continue. While he is highly experienced as a manager, and an active member of the OM community, unfortunately he doesn't bring the support that other managers can bring to their teams. DBW doesn't bring much help either due to his seasonal presence in OM.

5) The Metro Boomin Mega Rays
A good run last year and I can say with certainty that power sed is going to give 100% as a manager. Unfortunately, 1v1 has been cut and DEG is mostly dead weight. jk. But for real, despite not being an active player at a high level in these OMs, I expect sed to support his team to the best of his ability. And DEG will provide moral/comedic support I guess. They need a good draft to break into top 4.

4) The Money Magearnas
There is no one that wanted to be a manager more than Funbot. Literally asking every team if she could manage with them. That motivation and her overall presence in OM (shoutout to being on basically every council) led to her receiving her own team. The addition of regirock is solid as well. Since his return, he has been one of the most active members of our PS! community and would have probably been a solid BH draft if he played. Despite the lack of PL managerial experience, Funbot's overall experience on Smogon.com and her competitive knowledge/ability is going to carry this team to at least top 4.

3) The Temper Tyrantrums
I expect drampa and OM to learn from their first run as managers last year and have a strong showing this year. Both have remained active in the OM community, are strong players in their respective metagames, are knowledgeable about the playerbases, and have good synergy as well. I predict a good draft and then being able to support their team well. Don't let me down <3.

2) The Head Honchkrows
Following a win in his first run as manager, jrdn is going to be the biggest threat once again. Since last year, jrdn has expanded his presence. He is now apart of more standard communities. That knowledge, combined with being one of the best OM players, plus the addition of STABmons, is going to make him unstoppable. I expect a solid draft, with some cheap high quality tour players that only he can support, and overall solid assistance throughout the whole tour for his team. TCOT is there too I guess.
Time for post-draft rankings! Let’s see how well my predictions did.

8) The Metro Boomin Mega Rays
I'm disappointed with sed. This team, although not nearly as bad as last year's Talonflames, has massive flaws. Akashi would have been a solid STAB starter but my man drafted Betathunder too. AG is good but BH/MnM disappointing. AAA and ZU could go either way tbh. There's potential for them to place higher because of underwhelming drafts across the board but I'm going to have to rank them 8th.

7) The Five-Star Jolteons
Where do I begin. Racool and w0rd in 2019 is a big yikes. One of them with support from an active person like geerat would have been okay but both together... SL is the worst of the good BH starters (but I guess ML and Volkner being on the same team helps his case). Subs are meh. AG is solid though. I can't see the managers providing much support for their flaws so unfortunately I have to place the Jolteons in the bottom two.

6) The Socialist Sobbles
Sabella in AAA and Eien in MnM are fine, Durza in ZU is supposedly good, and Zesty is okay support. ESM I guess for AG but BH and STAB is lacking. Three years ago QT might have been able to carry this team but unfortunately not in 2019.

5) The Klink Shamers
I guess GL Volkner playing every other week isn't a meme? In any case, he and motherlove are the best BH pair this year. AG looks good, fruitshop I hear is solid for ZU, and MnM is fine until Chazm tilts. But AAA/STAB is very questionable without the support of like jrdn. Chloe/Pigeons did better than expected, but not by much.

4) The Temper Tyrantrums
People are ranking this team worse than it actually is imo. Solid ZU and AG. jasprose for BH isn't the worst, especially with Chessking support. STAB is good considering the lack of competition. And Kimbo ain't even bad. MnM is weak but the managers can provide decent support. This team could end up being the Bewears of last year where everyone underestimated them and they made finals.

3) The Head Honchkrows
I'll put this bluntly: jrdn choked the draft. This is a very mediocre team and under any other manager would be ranked lower. However, jrdn provides solid support for aesf, Cata, and rozes, while AG and ZU are fine on their own. BH is weak but could be worse (see: Rays). Unlike last year where they cruised through the competition, this team must bring their A game every week to secure top 4.

2) The Money Magearnas
Solid performance in the auction by Funbot and regirock. Sylveon and stresh are top picks on their own but Magearnas managed to get them both. BH is alright, AG and STAB are good, and ZU is solid. Good subs and managers can provide support too. This is the team to watch out for this year. Well done!

1) The Bedroom Blisseys
Top 1 BH, top 1 MnM, top 2 AAA, and ZU ssnl finalist (soon to be winner). Good AG pair and ITH in STAB ain't even bad considering betathunder is the only strong competition. While everyone else was saving their money, we had our eyes on the prize. Who needs subs when you have the best starters that will play every week. GG.

Ok so I heard a factual post-draft power ranking needed to be posted in this thread so I guess I will start spitting some truths:

1)

Top-tier mnm, aaa, and zu picks in stresh, sylveon, and lpy respectively and solid ag and stab players to back that up as well. While the bh slots might not be as strong, the Magearnas have managers who know the bh tier in and out that can help support them so I don't think it will be too much of an issue.

2)

A great BH core in Volkner and Mlove and other solid picks for various other metas such as Chazm, Arushi, fshop owner, and kurai. The Klinks definitely have a strong ass lineup coming in this OMPL. While some picks might have been a bit questionable to say the least, both managers are great in their own respective tiers and are sure to help their players out. They might grind our gears a bit in the finals when we face off :0

3)

Even when jrdn kept upbidding without ever buying anyone for the longest time (good strategy in some instances mind you), they still have quite the lineup in order to make them a threat. Cata, aesf (which was a fucking steal pick might I add), Purplegatorade, Rawmelon, and sugarhigh are all great players in their respective metas which I am sure will perform rather good. The ZU and STAB slots are looking a bit grim which is why I am putting them in 3rd place, but still think the Krows will do well given their track record. Also jrdn draft ur brother for once ffs....

4)

With probably the boldest spendings of the entire draft (to no ones surprise), the Blisseys are also looking quite hot despite some questionable picks. Any team with the two most expensive players, being Mamp the Champ and Andy will probs to really good in theory, as both players are solid in BH and MnM respectively. However, having another solo MnM player alongside rusty to mid level players every where else was kinda a trade off in spending so much in 2 tiers. Still got faith in them, but I just wish next time a team does not have two 20K+ picks :psygrump:.

5)

Sed's bias as an OU player strikes again for paying 14K+ on some of his OU/tour goon frens, but despite that there are some solid picks in here, mainly being Beta, Hunterstorm, and lax. Let's just hope that the managers/players can help build for those teammembers who will need building support to make it through the rounds lol.

6)

Some really good picks in here too, mainly being Zenithial, Kimbo, and Official Fissure, but why in the hell are both ZU tls on the same team?? Also there are some other questionable picks due to them being either subpar or a bit rusty so ye I couldn't put the Tyrantrums that high. Also come with a more creative teamname sillies

7)

I think the Sobbles will be kinda an underdog going into this OMPL as the team might seem a bit wonky at first glance. However upon further inspection, once can notice solid picks in Czim, Sabella, Zesty, and tzop. However, rest of the players are either not dedicated OM players or are really rusty. Gonna route for these goons regardless as I know Sobbles are prone to depression but eh we shall see.

8)

Despite this team having the BH meme team connoisseur (.overpay) in SL42 and some other solid relic players in Racool and w0rd, the res seems kinda mediocre at best. This is also added to the fact that both managers are not known to provide that much support to most other metas and overall you got a really lackluster drafting here. Sucks cause I always used to route for the Jolteons but idk this year really ain't looking to hot for them.

Ok thats enough truth spilling in this thread, no offence to anyone in actuality and I wish everyone good luck in this upcoming OMPL. I just needed to clarify some things up in here :bloblul:

Willdbeast'sSuperExcitingMysteryDraftPriceGuessingBonanza2.0!

Runners Up:
In The Hills - with an excellent guess of 12.5, being only 500 off his draft price despite it being quite high is a very respectable guess and shows his deep understanding of the draft system and the manager's mindsets. As such a solid addition to any team.
Chazm - once again with a strong guess at 16.5, only 1k off, this guy is showing not only his accuracy but his consistency - very few players have the intelligence and persistence to keep up such a high calibre of guessing year after year. Clearly worth drafting because of this.
AnythingGoesLegend - had a weak ass guess of 0k, needs more self confidence. After all what manager is going to love you if you don't love yourself?

Winners:
Gmansour20 and Chessking345 both guessed correctly and so are our joint winners for this OMPL! Really excellent guessing from both showing a clear and detailed knowledge of the OMPL draft system and an intricate understanding of the draft plans of the managers. These skilled analysts are clearly the top drafts of the season. Congrats!

Willdbeast'sSuperExcitingOMPLPowerRanking!

#8 - Metro Booming Mega Rays: Literally no-one on this team made a guess. Very low effort all around so expect this team to fail miserably.

#7 - Socialist Sobbles: With only one person guessing on this team and being fairly far off in comparison to the draft amount this team doesn't show any great skill in guessing, but it isn't such a complete failure as the rays with Durza offering some hope.

#6 - Head Honchkrows: Again only one guess here and it being equally wrong as for the Sobbles so they are on a similar footing here, but I give the Honchkrows the edge because their guess was less wrong proportionally. Not a strong team but with some luck they can put in a convincing performance, even if they are unlikely to win.

#5 - Five Star Jolteons: Here we are getting to the teams with a more serious chance. The only guess for this team was somewhat accurate proportionally, however with just one competent guesser it will be sl42 carrying his whole team, and I'm not sure if his guessing is accurate or consistent enough to manage alone.

#4 - Temper Tyrantrums: Just sneaking into the top half, this team is entirely carried by Chessking. With his almost unrivalled guessing abilities he should be able to put in a strong performance and help support the rest of the team. This team would be slightly higher up if they weren't held back by Drampa's Grandpa who made a (very bad) guess despite being a manager, showing a clear lack of understanding in the whole process. Perhaps he is going senile in his old age, but either way a bad manager can have a terrible impact on the team's performance so hopefully OM Room will be able to limit the damage and let Chessking do the rest.

#3 - Klink Shamers: The Klink's had 3 solid guesses showing the sort of all round ability needed for a team to really succeed. However there are no real standout guessers here so it will be a test of if they can support each other well and make the best use of their skills. All round a very solid draft and capable of winning.

#2 - Bedroom Blisseys: With a good effort from these players and three guesses this team has a fairly accurate and active guessing squad all round. Notable inclusions are In The Hills who was almost perfect with his guessing and BaconEatingAssassin who showed his guile by guessing an amount that wasn't a multiple of 0.5k in a cleverly hedged bet showing a deep and strategical mindset that will surely help. MAMP also had a reasonable guess and should be able to hold their own, but doesn't offer the sort of guessing support ITH does. Very strong team all round and a good contender.

#1 - Money Magearnas: Despite only having two guesses, star guesser Guessmansour should be enough to carry the team to victory if his support is properly used. Cam also offers solid guessing abilities to really round out the team. However due to relying heavily on Guessmansour this team could struggle if he has any activity issues, meaning they are only narrowly in the lead here but should have the edge against any team.

TheCoastsOfToast's OMPL Draft Ranking #2!!

Much like last year, the existing rankings are far too arbitrary and suffer from strong team bias. Last year I took things to an even more arbitrary level by using Scrabble scores as the basis for my rankings. This year, however, I have taken things to a sadder, more pathetic place. In this post, I will be ranking the teams by their average reaction score to post ratio on Smogon!! Can you think of anything more worthless? For simplicity's sake, all ratios are rounded to the nearest hundredths place.

#8.) The Money Magearnas (regirock, Funbot28): 3.67
These two OM mainstays make their first foray into major tournament managing with this OMPL, and they assembled the most ragtag bunch of low-reaction-score players they could find. With the maximum on their team just BARELY breaching 6:1 (xavgb a.k.a. stratch), they were doomed from there and continued to fall all the way down to SuperSkylake's 1.03 ratio — the lowest of the whole tournament. The good news for this team is that they drafted a bunch of positive, cute personalities (lookin' at you gman!) so while they certainly won't come close to winning, at least they'll have a good time.

#7.) The Temper Tyrantrums (OM room, drampa's grandpa): 4.18
Hmmm... this team being ranked 7th seems awfully familiar... Oh right, because this is the same spot you were in last year! During the draft, so many people were thinking "How could anyone spend that much money on Kimbo?" but little did we know the jrdn-look-alike's WHOPPING 11.36 ratio would help keep this team from being dead last. I would like to give credit to this team for drafting Chessking345 for his extremely pleasing 2.50 ratio, no rounding required.

#6.) The Klink Shamers (Chloe, Pigeons): 4.44
My former manager and her new feathery associate have certainly fallen from grace with this draft. This team consists of mostly middle-of-the-road ratios, with Hassin627's sub 2:1 ratio weighing the team down quite a bit. While they had some decent pickups, specifically in the ever-like-hungry GL Volkner, this draft is certainly nothing to write home about. But man, their team name is amazing! Who came up with it?

#5.) The Five-Star Jolteons (Ransei, dbw): 4.93
"Whoa, Ransei drafted a really great team!" - someone in 2016. In all honestly, Ransei had one of the greatest draft pickups in Skarpherim, whose hotter-than-Garbodor 9.1 ratio really helped this team out. Overall this team has a lot of ups and a lot of downs, and they balance each other out fairly well. I give this draft 2.465 stars.

#4.) The Socialist Sobbles (Mark_K, anaconja): 4.95
BARELY edging out the Jolteons to finish in the top half of the draft, the Communist comrades over here owe their lives to vivalospride for his amazing 9:1 ratio. And thankfully, thanks to their politics, all their rankings are split evenly. Thanks Viv! Shockingly, the worst ratio on this team belongs to Quantum Tesseract (2.10), whose many posts just didn't garner the reactions they should've — or maybe they got exactly the number they deserved.

#3.) The Bedroom Blisseys (The Immortal, Willdbeast): 5.12
I'm not gonna lie here, The Immortal totally choked this draft so hard. Like, trying to eat a bratwurst in one bite level choking. Like, damn, what a choke. However, despite Andyboy500's hatred for like-farming, his ratio of 8.36, combined with the low number of players on the team and relatively solid other ratios, cemented this team at #3. Holy Break's 6.71 ratio was a great pickup for only 3k! I guess not having many players ended up working out for this team this year, and I'm sure that will show in this year's OMPL.

#2.) The Head Honchkrows (jrdn, TheCoastsOfToast): 5.68
Like last year, I'm not afraid to be honest in the rankings and not put my team first. My team is undoubtedly amazing, and we garnered some of the best ratios of the tournament in rozes (10.96), PurpleGatorade (9.02), and Catalystic (8.56), but we had valleys like aesf (2.14) to overcome as well. Since jrdn is such an expert builder, I know he will be able to EASILY build up some of these reaction-score ratios. I'm very happy putting my team in this slot.

And finally, sitting in the #1 throne...

The Metro Boomin Mega Rays: 7.05 as managed by power and DEG

When I calculated the first member of this team, lax, and found his ratio to be almost 11:1, I knew we were going to have a problem. But then the next on the roster Jeran had only 1.09 so I shrugged it off. Most people discounted this team in their rankings due to the excessive number of tours players they drafted, but what could be better than drafting bigshots on this site with their massive number of likes? I almost couldn't believe it when I saw TonyFlygon's ratio of 19.73. Imagine getting nearly 20 likes per post! Imagine what you could do with those reaction scores! Oh, that's right, nothing. Clearly the artist formerly known as sedertz knew what he was doing in this draft. I look forward to seeing what juicy posts this team brings to the discussion thread for us to pour our reactions on to! Team name is still horrible tho.

Anyway, thank you for reading. If you're offended by this because your ratio isn't tip-top, well... make better posts! Or gain a massive following and be Smogon famous (talking to you Finch). Remember, this is all in complete seriousness.

OMPL Team Power Rankings! (Mascots Edition) s/o to drampa's grandpa for the full extent of this idea

It's about time we rate these OMPL teams by what truly matters! Each of these mascots play a key role in this tournament and will figuratively decide on who would win OMPL 2019 assuming the results depended on the viability of each mascot in Gen 7 Pure Hackmons! Let's go!

#8) Klink Shamers
- Led by Chloe and Pigeons.
To start things off already, Klink is one of the two guaranteed Little Cup Pokemon being featured in this tournament. This alone already sets the bar incredibly low for the Klink Shamers to the point where it's almost mandatory for their placement to be in the bottom two. Almost everything is outclassing it and there's really no room for this Pokemon to be ran.

Klink is getting nowhere with base 55 Attack, base 45 Special Attack, and base 40 HP. It may perhaps only work best as an Endeavor Pokemon in a metagame where moldy moves are extremely common and hazards are still a hit. On top of this, Klink is also weak to the OHKO move Fissure, making this Pokemon questionable, even as a Wonder Guard. Its bulk is not high enough to sustain, even with Eviolite and it ends up having to sacrifice this item for Air Balloon. All of these factors in combination to having a weakness to the common Fire-type coverage leaves The Klink Shamers at the bottom of this list. This Pokemon so bad to the point where it even has to be shamed by its own managers. Good job Chloe!

#7) Socialist Sobbles
- Led by Mark K and Anaconja
Sobble is another LC Water-type Pokemon, leaving it with quite a significant amount of room to be outclassed by other Water-type Pokemon. Unlike the rest of these mascots however, Sobble's stats cannot be confirmed. Despite this, it should be safe to assume Sobble will be low BST. However, in regards to this Pokemon's possible stats, Sobble's typing alone pushes this Pokemon above The Klink Shamers. Pure water is a solid Wonder Guard typing, only taking super effective hits from Electric-type attacks and Grass-type attacks, while having immunity to all OHKO moves. Although it's not the best typing for Wonder Guard, it still outmatches Klink in the only aspect we can really compare the two Pokemon in. Sobble in itself wouldn't be able to do much other than make a niche walling attempt, but with its stats, it's only destined to fail by moldy moves and moldy abilities more than a Pure Water-type should.

#6) Temper Tyrantrums
- Led by drampa's grandpa and OM
Perhaps the lowest on this list that isn't based off an LC Pokemon, Tyrantrum when looking at it, seems like it's a force to be reckoned with. However this isn't the case for what these power rankings are based off of.

For a Pokemon meant to primarily utilize its Attack stat, its Attack isn't very high for Hackmons. Its Defense is ok but does not help the six weaknesses it has, including weaknesses to two OHKO moves and a moldy move. Due to these factors and the base 59 Special Defense, this Pokemon would not be able to switch into or even deal with most offensive threats very well. Believe it or not, in ORAS I've tried this Pokemon once under a Prankster Destiny Bond set, simply because there wasn't anything much it could do on its own. It doesn't hit hard enough to be a successful Mold Breaker or Huge Power Pokemon, and has too many weaknesses or too low of a SpD stat to take on most offensive threats outside of Destiny Bond. For this, the Temper Tyrantrums are in sixth place. The most we can see this Pokemon doing is providing a decent niche as a Prankster or a meme sweeper. While its Attack stat isn't very high for this metagame, it's still high enough to potentially make a small impact in some matches, unlike Sobble and Klink.

#5) Head Honchkrows
- Led by Jrdn and TheCoastsOfToast
Like Tyrantrum, Honchkrow was also a Pokemon I've oddly tried out in ORAS, but as a Gale Wings user. Ignore this part. Honchkrow carries many of the same problems Tyrantrum has but to a lesser extent.

They both have the same speed, both have similar Attack and Special Defense, but Honchkrow nearly trades in Tyrantrum's Defense for its Special Attack and vice versa. What makes the Head Honchkrows over Temper Tyrantrums is mostly Honchkrow's typing. It has less weaknesses overall, lack of Ground weakness leaving this Pokemon being weak to just 1 OHKO move, is immune to what's arguably the most common moldy move, while resisting another moldy move. Honchkrow and Tyrantrum could be able to run similar abilities overall, but because of Honckrow's base 105 Special Attack and Flying-type, I would like to say Honckrow also has a unique ability over Tyrantrum in the form of Triage! When combined with Tail Glow and Oblivion Wing + coverage, Honchkrow could provide an alternative for itself other than dying.

#4) Five Star Jolteons
- Led by Ransei and DBW (JUST SAYING if this were the best Pokemon region-based manager power rankings Five Star Jolteons would totally overwhelm everyone else)
The Five Star Jolteons mascot is far better than the mascots ranked lower on this power ranking for the combination of its typing and speed tier alone.

Pure Electric-type gives it only a weakness to Ground, by which Jolteon can simply manipulate by running the Air Balloon item. Its typing does not help against moldy moves in any way except for its resistance to Sunsteel Strike, and if Air Balloon manages to pop or the opponent manages to use Thousand Arrows, Jolteon is in deep trouble. Going back into the positives, Jolteon's typing leaves it able to serve as a decent Wonder Guard and help support the rest of its team by defending moves and setting up for its teammates. With a base speed stat of 130, it's able to speed tie or outspeed all 3 of the most dangerous threats in Pure Hackmons, being Mega Mewtwo X, Mega Gengar, and Chansey. This gives Jolteon a good chance to manipulate these threats' capabilities by tricking items like Choice Scarf/Specs or inflicting status to hinder them out. Last but not least its speed tier also allows Jolteon to bluff Wonder Guard and go rogue with No Guard OHKO moves, taking out the competition by surprise. Its offensive and defensive stats are nothing to write home about but the Speed tier, typing, and long legacy Jolteon holds make it one of the best mascots there may ever consistently be in OMPL. Go Jolteons!

#3) Money Magearnas
- Led by Funbot28 and regirock
Magearna is quite an odd, maybe even debatable choice for #3 as it holds a weakness to the common Fissure and Fire-type coverage, but its above Jolteon for special reasons.

Magearna alone may be weak to Ground and Fire, but that's honestly just it. Just one additional weakness from Jolteon. However, Magearna's stats are relatively more decent than Jolteon's in total with higher Special Attack and Defensive stats, and it shares a type with one of the moldy moves, allowing this Pokemon to receive STAB from it. With Wonder Guard or even Magic Bounce on this Pokemon, it's hard to tell what exactly it may do. It can be both a more supporting wall and a better sweeper than the mascots lower, while also holding items such as Air Balloon, Leftovers, Z-Crystals, plates, etc to compliment its typing. Here is an example of a team showcasing its success: https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/cats-and-rabbits-an-om-mashups-rmt-celebrating-1500-posts.3650643/. Magearnas are really in on the money here.

#2) Metro Boomin Mega Rays
- Led by powerlessly and DEG
Let's be honest. Did you really expect this team to go any lower? Heck, you should've expected Mega Rays to go HIGHER. Their mascot is Mega Rayquaza for crying out loud!

Its typing sucks but its stats are ENORMOUS! With those offenses and a decent speed tier, anyone is able to make Mega Rayquaza a force to be reckoned with! It's the best Aerilate user and is one of the greatest Huge Power and Mold Breaker users out there due to the combination of Attack, Special Attack, and Speed stats. It also has the bulk to not get revenge killed so easily unless it's facing Refrigerate Kyurem-Black. With these stats, it's able to run hardly predictable coverage and beat out most Wonder Guard Pokemon despite it not being a good Wonder Guard itself! Statswise, it beats out just about every Pokemon, even the two LCs combined (implying Sobble won't have over 479 BST), and Mega Rayquaza's stat spread is too much for almost anything on this list to handle, period.

#1) Bedroom Blisseys
- Led by The Immortal and willdbeast
Ok so imagine being able to transform into everything lower on this list, while having significantly higher HP. Yes, this is Blissey.

Blissey has the highest HP in the entire game and makes everything lower than it on this list look fragile. The rest of its stats bar Special Defense are incredibly poor, but due to the existence of two specific abilities Blissey can utilize, HP is the only one that matters in this case.
Imposter is an ability that allows Pokemon to transform into their foe on switchin, copying all of their stats except HP. If Blissey has the highest HP in the game, Blissey is immediately stronger than its opponent after switching in, no matter what. The Pokemon with the second highest HP on this list has a whopping 300 raw HP lower than Blissey, making no other mascot comparable to it for Imposter use. Despite being stronger, there are still counters that can be constructed for this Pokemon, but for the Pokemon lower on this list, it might not work out without their own effectiveness being lowered. Even then, Blissey could be able to switch out especially with the Shed Shell item it can hold. The other ability Blissey can run makes Bedroom Blisseys the scariest team anyone will ever face in OMPL, unless Gamefreak goes more insane than they've already gotten. The other ability Blissey typically runs is INNARDS OUT! Here's how Innards Out works: If Blissey is KOed with a move, that move's user loses an equal amount of HP. Combine this with Blissey's base HP being so high and its base Defense stat being so poor and you got yourself an absolute menace anyone would be afraid to touch! By having Innards Out and more base HP than every Pokemon, while having one of the lowest Defense stats, Blissey is almost guaranteed to take out anything. This strategy is powerful enough to where anything lower on the list gets taken out even if it means Blissey also gets taken out. The absurdly high effectiveness of both these abilities in correlation to Blissey's stats are why the Bedroom Blisseys take the #1 spot.

That is all! Have a good day. In the end, these are the only Power Rankings that matter. Sorry Jolteons :blobsad:

Hope you're ready for the Mascot BH Viability Rankings

S Tier

Metro Boomin Mega Rays

Mega Rayquaza is one of the premiere threats in the BH metagame, being able to run many powerful sets such as contrary and aerilate. Its amazing offensive stats give it the power to be an incredibly powerful wallbreaker, being able to 2 or 3hko many of its switchins. When combined with coverage moves, Mega Rayquaza can single handedly take on unprepared teams.

Bedroom Blisseys

Since early gen 5, imposter has been one of the most prevalent abilities to run in BH because of its extreme utility, both in copying boosting sweepers and scouting the opponent's moves. Blissey's sky high HP and Special Defense stats also allow it to run other popular sets such as magic bounce or unaware.

A Tier

Money Magearnas

Although it doesn't boast the same bulk as other popular BH steel types, magearna has gained popularity because of its immunity to dragon type moves such as core enforcer. This immunity gives it the chance to run sets that rely heavily on its ability, such as magic bounce or prankster. Although its defensive stats are not incredible like its competitors, mainly registeel and celesteela, its popularity is on the rise.

B Tier

Five Star Jolteons

Jolteon has never been great in Balanced Hackmons, but its high speed and decent special attack stats give it a small niche as a boosting sweeper or no guard user. It isn't great, but in the hands of a good player it can probably hold its ground.

C Tier

Temper Tyrantrums

Tyrantrum might have good stats for its native tier of RU, but it doesn't seem to really have a spot in BH, especially because of its weakness to moves like moonblast and thousand arrows. However, once boosted up it might catch some opponents off guard with a well-played z move or STAB head smash or outrage.

D Tier

Head Honchkrows

Honchkrow is extremely hard to find a space for on a BH team because of the prominence of strong flying type attackers such as Mega Rayquaza. It has an EXTREMELY small niche as a dark type in gen 7, as it can't be affected by prankster moves like spore or topsy turvy. Outside of this, however, it is completely outclassed by other, stronger mons.

E Tier

Klink Shamers

Steel types will always see usage in BH, but probably not klink. It has very little bulk, which is a requirement for steel types to be useful in BH. Don't expect to see it any time soon.

F Tier

Socialist Sobbles

LC mons have almost never seen any use in BH, and for good reason. 99% of the time there is a much stronger mon of the same type that does its job thousands of times better. You might be able to squeeze in sobble as a FEAR mon, but even then it would be outclassed by mons like phantump or ferroseed who boast better typings that give them useful immunities. Even if you tried to use this mon at level 100, it would be completely outclassed by Primal Kyogre, who boasts incredible special attack and better than average bulk. Please don't use sobble.
