Hmm I guess ill make my own PR then
Gonna leave out my team from the PR. Also gonna be strictly positive this PR cos ive said enough dumb shit recently quite honestly.
#1) The Head Honchkrows
Predicted Best Starting Lineup:
AAA: aesf (+jrdn support and subbing potential)
BH: highlighter (+alternatif support)
Camo: jrdn (+highlord support and subbing potential)
MNM: Redflix
NFE: frisoeva
STAB: cam (+aesf and jrdn support and aesf subbing potential)
Subs: highlord, alternatif
This is I think the scariest team on paper with probably the highest upside potential. Think the performance of this draft hinges on 3 factors: highlighter figuring out the bh meta and getting in a good place building wise, frisoeva figuring out nfe meta and getting in a good place building wise, and Redflix translating his strong af mnm open run to his first ompl. I think all 3 of these things will happen in which case we could be set for an extremely dominant ompl run from the krows. Theyr AAA is the best in the pool without a doubt, and theyr camo is probably the best or second best in the pool too, and aesf and jrdn are always reliable af players to bet on, and cam a solid veteran who usually doesn't fail to get the job done results wise even despite getting unlucky so many times. Looking forward to watching this team play, and theyr my frontrunner to win this tour.
P.S - Y'all should get an emote this time ngl, so u can add it to om server when u win :P :jolt:
#2) The Spinda Wheels
Predicted Best Starting Lineup:
AAA: Megazard (+stresh, viv and ham support, and stresh and viv subbing potential)
BH: PinkDragonTamer (+stresh and anaconja support and subbing potential)
Camo: ham (+stresh support)
MNM: Jordy (+stresh support and subbing potential)
NFE: blinkboy (+King Leo V subbing potential)
STAB: stresh (+viv subbing potential)
Subs: Alkione, Havens,
I dont think it's a surprise that jrdn and stresh have the top 2 ranked teams, cos 16k jrdn and stresh is super duper strong. Ill preface this by saying im not 100% on that lineup at all (viv could easily be starting stab and stresh starting mnm instead), but I think that lineup above is a top tier team anyways. It honestly makes no sense how stresh got this entire team for so little, and I think the team has really good synergy too which just makes it look better (and will probs make it perform better too). I think MZ wish stresh building for him has a really strong chance of going on a tear this tour, as I think stresh is one of the top 2 aaa builders right now, and MZ is v strong and experienced player. PDT I think is a case like MZ where theyr potential upside is so high with stresh support, cos they've already proven theyr top tier caliber players from past tours, and what they need right now is some good support to get them into the gen 8 meta. Anaconja also seems like a v nice sub here. Ham seems committed to doing well in camo, and with the kinda player that he is, if he's even mildly motivated towards this theres a good chance of it happening, and Jordy in MnM with stresh support seems really solid as he's deffo capable of beating everyone in this pool with stresh teams (and obviously the other option of stresh in MnM is literally top tier). blink was a fucking steal as hes probs one of the best player and builders too and is v likely gonna bop this entire tour whilst king Leo is a perfect sub here cos hes a great player who with blink teams can deffo grab some wins on weeks where blink may need to sub. Stresh in stab might seem weird, and as I said earlier I could easily be dead wrong here, but I was reminded recently that stresh won the stab open this omgs, so he probably actually has the most stab building experience out of the entire stab top tier players which gives him a huge head start on ppl like w0rd and aesf and beta thunder, which could prove to be invaluable. I guess im just being rogue with the predicted lineup, I think stresh in mnm and viv in stab is infinitely more likely, but I think this is v cool too
#3) The Malevolent Misdreavuses
Predicted Best Starting Lineup:
AAA: rozes
BH: tack (+SuperSkylake support and subbing potential)
Camo: Euphonos (+chazm support)
MNM: Chazm (+abriel support and subbing potential)
NFE: Durza (+Tack support and subbing potential)
STAB: w0rd
subs: Lasen, SuperSkylake and abriel gabram
I actually think this draft was really cool ngl, they got a lot of super top tier players for a bunch of critical formats, and no slot seems like it cant pull off a win in any week. Rozes is the perfect aaa pickup from the options in the pool if ur looking for one player to remain active all tour and carry the aaa load singlehandedly and get results after results, which is why he was the top ranked aaa option on my PR. Ive heard really good things about tack, and im certain he will be able to hold his own despite a ridiculously stacked bh pool (on a real, bh is nutty, was the hardest to rank by far). Their camo is also super strong with a high ceiling too. Only thing limiting me from ranking theyr camo higher is that I haven't actually seen euphonos play so id be going totally by what ive heard, but apparently hes v good. Chazm is a proven camo beast last gen, and given his activity this gen im certain thats carried over, so thats really strong camo support. Tack support in nfe seems like one of the better support's u can get if what ive heard is true, and Durza has quite a lot of tour experience which'll prob help him a lot here despite a pretty strong nfe pool. I think the key dealbreakers for this team will be if euphonos's camo tour success translates to his ompl debut, and how quickly w0rd is able to get to grips with the current stab meta (and whether or not dexit ends up hindering his really creative build style too much). These 2 seem pretty likely though in which case this team's ceiling is pretty high.
#4) The Crown Jewel Corviknights
Predicted Best Starting Lineup:
AAA: Thinkerino
BH: MAMP (+pileosand support)
Camo: MetaRiolu7
MNM: Andyb0y
NFE: Marjane (+uhuhuhu7, thimo and DJ support and subbing potential)
STAB: Terracotta (+thimo support)
This draft is kinda rad, and I have to congratulate SBPC who many (included myself) strongly opposed as a manager pick. While I think 23k for a player is insane, in this case it was actually a really smart move ngl, cos the early co on Andy really helped with the draft, so yeah cool strat. Thinkerino as ive said before is the player I most wanna see do well, cos its really cool to see effort and grind rewarded, and nobody's put in more effort or grinded aaa this gen more than think. MAMP was a steal in BH, think hes one of the most guaranteed players to go positive despite a loaded bh field, just cos ive never not seen mamp go positive in a tour and hes just generally accepted as an ever-present top 3 bh player. Idrk metariolu, and camo is one of the most loaded fields too (second most competitive after bh imho) but he must be good cos everyone seemed super keep to get him in the auction. Andy mnm doesn't really need much explanation, it isnt without reason that this man has never been under 20k in a single auction. For the last 2 slots I first gotta mention the 3k thimo pickup, cos thats heat. Idk how active thimo has been recently, but hes always been probably one of the most innovative builders ive ever seen, can literally offer useful input to any meta with limited experience. I think hes gonna really contribute to the NFE and STAB team building in a really positive way so yeah thats fire. Terra in stab also is sick, terra/zesty/cam were all under a similar category in my mind of like less splurgy players who are very very capable of doing solidly throughout this tour with a bit of support in stab, and they all 3 ended up in those exact situations (terra with thimo support, zesty with multi support, cam with jrdn and aesf support) so im excited to see how they all end up doing. Stab was by far the most fun meta to watch last ompl too and a lot of that was to do with players like thimo and w0rd bringing such creative sets, so im expecting big things out of this stab core. Finally, irdk NFE, but uhuhuhuhuhuhu7 seems to be acknowledged by everyone as a solid nfe player and builder, and idk Marjane but clearly they must be quite good, so yeah this is probs solid. Think the key here for this team will be if think gets on a roll, cos if he gets off to a good start this tour, can see him snowballing as fuck, as each win gonna give him lots of confidence and his teams are already v v solid.
#5) The Pandemic Parasects
Predicted Best Starting Lineup:
AAA: Sabella (+geerat support)
BH: sugarhigh (+DF Shock support and subbing potential)
Camo: Geerat
MNM: Multi (+Zesty support and subbing potential)
NFE: TJ (+85percent support)
STAB: Zesty (+Multi support and subbing potential)
I think Cata's thinking with this draft was spot on, he just unfortunately got really upbid on a few of his picks. Regardless, I think this draft is pretty solid. Sabella + Geerat is a really cool aaa/camo core, and im excited to see what the results there will be. My prediction is that the first few weeks will be a bit of trial and error more or less, as geerat comes to grips with the gen 8 aaa and camo metas, and then after that warmup period we can expect to see this core churn out results. Sabella is the 2nd best like actual player in the aaa pool behind rozes imho, and this time around hes gonna have some of the best support out of all the teams here, so yeah be scared for that. I dont really know bh, so I won't really comment, and I dont really know DF Shock or sugar high that well, just remember him getting loads of wins last ompl including a big one vs MAMP I think? Multi is one of the strongest mnm picks you could make, while offering really useful overall support as hes an omgs semifinalist for a reason. TJ did p well last year in zu iirc, and is generally solid, and idk 85percent but im assuming hes an nfe builder which is what makes sense with the rest of cata's team. Zesty is just a generally solid player and a nice pickup in that stab slot when ur splurging on the other metas (as I kinda alluded to above), while giving the team a strong mnm option too if a swap is necessary. Think the number 1 key to this team is how long it takes geerat to come fully up to speed with the gen, cos once that happens this team will be properly rolling and will be fun to watch.
#6) The Money Magearnas
Predicted Best Starting Lineup:
AAA: Dragonillis (+funbot support and subbing potential)
BH: GL Volkner (+dimrah support)
Camo: Matiss98 (+dragonilis and funbot support)
MNM: Fardin (+gmansour support)
NFE: Crystalites
STAB: Funbot28 (+dragonilis support and subbing potential)
This team straight up bangs. Lots of steals too, none more impressive than dimrah, who I have recently been alerted has 4/5 of the top 5 alts on the bh ladder, which is some pretty impressive shit as bh is deffo the toughest om ladder, and he was what 4k? Seems like more than just your average ladder hero thats for sure. Even if he doesn't start too much over volk, can imagine that will be some invaluable testing and building prep completing what is a really strong bh core despite the stacked bh field. Matiss is like the camo goat, and having finally seen him play last omwc, I can confirm that he lives up to the hype, so camo kinda set. Fardin + gman seems quite a yin and yang pairing lol, cant think of 2 more different users, but like fardin was a steal ngl, think he should do alright so long as he doesn't try and cteam too much this tour, think scariest fardin is when he just brings generally solid teams cos his playing ability isnt bad at all, dude made omgs playoffs consistently for like 3 years straight right? Idk crystallites, apparently hes the NFE leader? So he must be pretty solid, but nfe is gonna be really tough I can imagine this tour. The real heart of the team is the dragonilis + funbot core tho, cos they can mix and match so much and help out in a lot of metas too, like dragonilis went for far less than I thought he would go for, being an omgs semifinalist and seemingly the constant owner of the star rank in the om room lol. Think this draft gets a bit underrated cos of how strong some of the other drafts were, but there arent really any gaping holes anywhere at all. Think the key to this draft will be dragonilis and Funbot's results, both are v competent, but we gotta see how that translates to ompl, cos I dont think dragonilis has played ompl before? and funbot hasn't played in a bit cos she was managing. However, I can see both these happening, which will make for quite the entertaining season to watch from the mag's. Iirc last year the mag's season was severely blighted by rng, so I really hope that doesn't happen again cos you hate to see that.
#7) The Klink Shamers
Predicted Best Starting Lineup:
AAA: LBDC (+QT, kimbo, pigeons support and subbing potential)
BH: a loser (+QT and jasprose support)
Camo: DugZa (+a loser support and QT support)
MNM: Pigeons (+QT support and subbing potential)
NFE: TonyFlygon (+anime sans support and chait subbing potential)
STAB: betathunder (+QT support)
subs: chait, lancer, kimbo, anime sans
I actually think this draft has a lot of positives, and wouldnt be overly shocked if this team snuck into playoffs. Chloe team's cant surprise me anymore after the klinks last year came back from an 0-3 start to the tour to make finals including a dominant and surprising win over the krows, who were the top seed and my favourite to win last years ompl. LBDC is my dark horse for the aaa slot, I deffo wanna see him starting here for a decent portion of the tour at least. Furthermore as I said in my PR, kimbo comes up with really cool ideas, and LBDC already brings lots of non-meta stuff, so I can see this aaa being really hard to prep for, as you really dont know what to expect. IDK shit about bh, proven that time and time again, but ppl seem to be in agreement that a loser is a solid af bh pick in what seems to be a stacked bh pool, so expect some v nice wins from the bh slot. DugZa I didnt really know existed until a few days ago, but apparently he won some camo tour and is a ribbon winner and has Jrdn's seal of approval which is enough for me tbh. Pigeons is just generally solid, and ive already made the mistake of doubting him enough so I won't be repeating that this time. Think MnM is tough, but I dont think any of the MnM mains will be overly pleased to find themselves matched up against pigeons. Tony + anime in nfe is my fave part of this draft and im looking forward a lot to seeing the results this delivers. I think the 2 keys to this draft really surprising everyone and making a deep run are: If beta starts gelling with the gen 8 meta, and how much QT's all around support ability will translate to this gen. Afaik, QT's really fucking clever irl, and with corona he probs has a lot of time on his hands, so that combination + the fact that this isnt the first time hes had to learn like all the om metas means that I can deffo see this happening in which case this team will start becoming quite scary.
Honestly, I dont expect either this PR or my original AAA PR to be anywhere close to accurate, particularly cos I think this new gen is just a ginormous curveball. Expect records all over the place, and im looking forward to seeing which shaded player ends up going on a mad run, proving everyone wrong. My dark horse team to make finals (and potentially even win) are the corvs, think that'd be quite a cool story too. Debut manager shaded by the community (including to a large degree, myself) as a manager pick goes all the way! That being said krows are stacked and I think we can all agree thats a universal fact.
Gonna leave out my team from the PR. Also gonna be strictly positive this PR cos ive said enough dumb shit recently quite honestly.
