Open Setup Classic Mafia - Game Thread

Sorry yall sometimes I work on the weekends and this was one of those ones. I also kind of wanted to sit back and observe/read most of day one anyway because I’m still trying to get my feet wet with the Smogon NOC meta (with this being my first traditional mafia game because popcorn is weird). But yeah not being around to vote at deadline is my b, sorry

Very interesting to me that maf would shoot someone with very few posts (and makes me happy that I avoided the bullet tbh). From what I understand and if I were maf I think I would love to shoot the more active town voices so me and my maf teammates could better control the narrative during town discussion. So shooting chicken didn’t make much sense to me. But hey maybe they just feel like they can do whatever they want because we voted out our own doctor

Will be around more during this day cycle and future ones. Not too busy this week

my suspicions with tommy havent faded one bit. in fact with his rebuttal, they’ve grown. which townie would normally vote first even though they have more chances to eliminate a comrade than an enemy, especially without no one saying anything?

It's counterintuitive at first but voting is actually almost always the right move for town. As the game passes people will die over time, and votes are the only way that town has to get kills. Every other kill will almost definitely be townies (bar the case where the werewolf kills a mafia member). If town forgoes its power and doesn't vote there is no chance to get evils out - essentially passing all of the control to the evils to determine what happens.

Other players can probably explain it better if this doesn't make sense. I'm still a little hazy on it since I originally had the same thoughts you had and had to be convinced over the course of many games and many discussions between games that day 1 voting is actually the proper move.

ok but if someone votes first in day one, they shouldnt call out the person who votes them

i understand your pov with regards to not showing up to deadline. i get that not every euro or east of euro is going to be able to meet the deadlines. that's fine. i even do understand placing on pulsar for pressure/spirit vote. it's just an incredibly frustrating position to be in that the vote was functionally locked over an hour before deadline off of a non-ingame reason wagon reason. i think we really do need to talk to people and set better expectations about participation in-game. maybe start handing out infractions or something for joining a game then not participating in it.

but i think you can also understand that we just lost a doc because we voted a typical afk slot in order to narrow the amount of the game that's spent pulling teeth with people who don't respect the game and the people playing it. and you are still saying "i'm checked out" "gg go next" "this game is over". with all due respect the two town that just died combined for barely over a page of posts. im not gonna speculate why chickening was the target, idfk. we still have some afks that i hope get more active but like, man, not super thrilled that you saw what just happened and doubled down on "actually this game isn't worth playing"
