Volcanion @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 164 Def / 96 Spe
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Flamethrower
- Haze
- Toxic

Sableye-Mega @ Sablenite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 112 Def / 144 SpD
Careful Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover
- Knock Off
- Foul Play

Really fun balanced or defensive core I've been using lately, credits to starry blanket for the idea. Volcanion synergizes very well with Mega Sableye due to checking Fairy types, mainly Azumarill, as well as Fire and offensive Water-types. Mega Sableye has the Magic Bounce ability to bounce back hazards, which really helps with Volcanion's Stealth Rock weakness, which really hurts his performance as a defensive Pokemon. You can also go with Specs Volcanion to really put the hurt on teams if you're using bulky offense or something like that, but I really like defensive Volc as it checks a lot of the things it checks better than offensive variants, and is just a really solid mon overall. The 96 Speed EVs on Volcanion are to outspeed Adamant Belly Drum Azumarill so you can Haze it if it BDs on you. Also CM Mega Sableye is an option over the set I listed for a win condition that still spreads burns nicely and still benefits from Volcanion.

Volcanion @ Choice Specs
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Spe
Modest Nature
- Steam Eruption
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power Ice

Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Superpower
- Crunch

Tyranitar, Scarf or Band is a great partner for Volcanion since it is able to pressure and trap the Lati Twins and Electrics, and this of course allows Volcanion to function well as a wallbreaker. Volcanion true counters are in the form of things like Goodra, the lati twins, M-Latios so Tyranitar can sort of damage/kill them to help Volcanion break the rest of the team. Tyranitar doesn't gain anything, but really supports Volcanion's wallbreaking potential.

Generation IV (Heatran) @ Power Herb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Magma Storm

Generation VI (Volcanion) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 72 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA / 180 Spe
Modest Nature

- Sludge Bomb
- Earth Power

Yeah this core is hot AF. Its kinda funny how they also happen to be 600 BST legends Nerd: but Keldeo is 580 BST... Me: sssshhhh from three consecutive generations, but that's besides the point. This is a really cool offensive core due to just how many checks they share and are able to lure out+beat for each other. I wouldn't recommend this on anything other than heavy (not hyper) offense because their defensive synergy is fucking terrible, but offensively their synergy is really spectacular and very quickly leaves teams getting overwhelmed. Volcanion and Heatran break down fat grasses with their secondary STAB, Volcanion acts as this core's only stop to opposing Volcanion with Earth Power while also providing a check to non-HP Elec Keldeo and Azumarill with its good bulk, typing and access to Water Absorb (and Sludge Bomb just blows Azu back, which is also a thing). Keldeo lures out and weakens Latios while also acting as an offensive answer to Mega Lopunny and being able to RK Mega Manectric, Mega Beedrill, Mega Sceptile and anything else fast with Choice Scarf. It also beats or at least speed ties with Terrakion (depending on band vs. scarf) and stops pre-Polish Lando from ruining your day. Finally, Magma Storm+Solar Beam on Heatran allows it to trap and KO fat waters that give this core trouble, including (Mega) Slowbro/king, Jellicent (big because literally hard walls both of the other two 'mons) and Taunt allows it to shut down and break through stuff like Chansey (especially if it carries Toxic>Stealth Rock) who gives this core trouble due to the fact that, outside of Secret Sword, it can very easily just abuse the other two members of the core.

Volcanion @ Choice Specs / Mystic Water
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Steam Eruption
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Wave / Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Grass] / Hidden Power [Electric]

Breloom @ Life Orb / Focus Sash
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Spore
- Mach Punch
- Bullet Seed
- Swords Dance / Rock Tomb
one of volcanion's key weaknesses is bulky water types. pokemon like gastrodon, rotom-w, jellicent, seismitoad, and more all wall volcanion, giving it a really hard time. breloom does a fantastic job of handling these pokemon, while at the same time providing a more definitive wincon for your team (thanks to SD). the utility it provides in sleep is really nice ofc, and it checks sand rush excadrill: another threat to volcanion. in return, volcanion can help with certain annoying steels and fairies that breloom doesn't like, such as mega altaria, skarmory, mega scizor, etc.

the main issue with this core (and any volc + answer to water core, really) is that lati@s becomes even more of a problem. the latis are very solid checks to both loom and volcanion, meaning that you're gonna almost definitely need pursuit to help here. tyranitar can be a nice trapper because it checks both lati@s and speedy electrics that volc will have problems with.

EVs: 72 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA / 180 Spe
Modest Nature

- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Sludge Bomb
This is a pretty neat core that I thought of while thinking about building with Volcanion and I've used it to great success. Basically Volcanion is annoyed by bulky waters, the lati twins, and special sponges. Mega metagross is amazing at pressuring all of those mons, especially with thunderpunch. This may not be the standard set, but it works quite well on the build that I've used it on. Tpunch pressures shit like cune, jelli, and others that pressure volc, although hp elec volc+gknot meta is also a viable option to run, but i prefer to lower one of the attacking stats of the mon im using than its defenses. metagross is still annoyed to death by shit like mega scizor, gastrodon, RH Lando, MSab, etc. All of these mons are dunked on by specs hp grass volc and give it free chances to come in and fire off a steam eruption (or u can click hp grass to lure the mon in case of gastro). I really like using this core and I recommend you check it out.

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Icicle Crash
- Superpower

Thundurus @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power Ice
- Nasty Plot

Alright so this is a really anti-meta offensive core I've been working with. Basic concept, two wallbreakers in Volc and Mamo punch holes for Thundy to clean. Standard specs Volcanion set, you know what this does, if not read literally any other thread in this forum (HP grass in the last slot for Gastro and Seismitoad which the other two struggle with). Mamoswine is working great in the bulkier post-Volc metagame, he seems to go through phases of being really un-prepared for and now is one of those times, not many teams pack switchins for this thing rn other than bulky steels such as ferrothorn, which are bopped by superpower (especially as freeze dry would generally be the expected 4th move now due to the abundance of bulky waters in the tier). Has priority for the faster threats & to make up for his & Volc's slow speed, while also beating electrics for Volc, as well as dragons such as M-Latias (even lures reflect type with superpower). Freeze dry is an option for water types but it's kinda weak and superpower is useful much more often in my experience. Without freeze dry though the core still struggles with bulky waters which is where Thundurus comes in, whilst its own counters such as bulky grounds are handily taken care of by the other two. Prankster T-wave further mitigates the speed issue and helps vs offence, while nasty plot just shreds balance once the wallbreakers have done their work. Again, the metagame is really kind to Thundurus currently with all the bulky teams running around and waters everywhere. Core mandates hazard removal and a rock resist / sand check. Overall a fun, easy to use offensive core making the most out of current metagame trends and Volc hype.

Voting closes on Thursday and I'll give you one less day to build next week to make up for the lost time due to someone forgetting -_- Due to low participation this week, you can vote for up to one core. It will revert to the normal two next week. Best of luck!

Core 4

reasoning for going with this core is because when I pair with Volcanion I like my Mega to be offensive than a bulky set up sweeper, I feel you get the most out of it.

Ok so I'm a dingus and somehow missed my own core when doing the voting post... Its been added as core 6 so as to not mess up the order.

Anyway voting for core 3. 'Twas a toss-up between core 2 and 3 'cause VolcTar is hermazing but ultimately I like Breloom more so I went with that one. Yes, I am really that simple-minded to choose it 'cause I like a 'mon xD
