brb gonna breed a Gothitelle and MSableye, been putting that off for months

Thanks for the info! Seems like a very drastic shift. I expected a shift after Hoopa-U, but not a shift-shift. I wonder... would this development have happened eventually if Hoopa hadn't caused a rise in offense? Like, would it have happened the next time Offense rose? Meta trends are so interesting.
(Especially given the idea that at infinity, or at generation infinity, there's an infinite number of viable Pokemon and no team can possibly cover all possible threats appropriately and makes games matchup based. This is already happening! Makes you wonder what the future of Competitive Pokemon (OU 6v6 style) will be.)
...
(odds of a Shadow Tag suspect? It's been rearing its head for months and months, long before any stall-friendly meta change.)

EDIT: what are the current sets for MSab and Goth, anywho? I find the strategy dex is typically well behind meta trends lately.

Shadow Tag will not get tested for one reason: Gothitelle (who is now UU) is the only viable user of it that people see. The other being Wobuffet.

People in the Shadow Tag PR thread from awhile back found that Gothorita or whatever it's called can totally work.

It's entirely possible for ST as a whole may be tested in the future once the uncompetitive defintion stuff gets sorted out.

Is there a resource for searching OU-viable mons by type? Say for example I had a team that needed a specific type in the last slot for a specific resistance/immunity/STAB and I wanted to search for OU-viable mons that would fit the bill. Or is it just a case of looking through the viability rankings and filtering manually. Cheers

If you wanted a fire type, for example, you could type "/ds ou, fire type" into the chat in Showdown, which would bring up a list of all the fire types in ou. The teambuilder also lists mons by tier with plenty of handy info:

Duno Goth but here's MSableye:

Sableye @ Sablenite
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 112 Def / 144 SpD
Careful Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Knock Off
- Recover
- Fake Out / Protect / Foul Play / Snatch / Toxic

D_what

Standard Gothitelle set is this:

Gothitelle @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Shadow Tag
EVs: 80 HP / 176 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Trick
- Psychic
- Hidden Power Fire / Calm Mind
- Rest

EVs give it 301 HP (not 3HKOed by Seismic Toss, allowing it to PP stall). Its basically the only up-to-date thing on the dex, as Goth is pretty standardised and un-changing atm.

Thanks guys :D

I notice that the dex mentions tricking scarf back from the thing you've tricked it from later. How does that work? Won't you be locked into Trick, and therefore unable to take the KO? So you'll have to switch and waste any CM boosts, or trick AGAIN and have the opponent switch moves?

No if you get a new scarf you will be able to switch moves again. So if your Scarf Gothitelle tricks a Banded Azu it can switch moves the next turn (after that he'll be locked ofc.)
Exception is if you try to trick a mega and it fails, in that case you are locked in Trick

Well you take the scarf back on their last struggle (after you pp Stall) while they ko themselves

Huh. I've known Trick since gen 4 and I had no idea that's how that worked. Wow :O

The struggle thing makes sense though, thanks everyone!

It can still run Energy Ball so not really

It's only gonna hurt the viability of shitty mono attacking sets

Hey can someone tell me what this Scizor spread is for in the useage stats?

Adamant:32/252/0/0/0/224
It's a life orb number. Life orb recoil takes 10% of your total health but always rounds down, so if you can make sure your HP ends in a 9 you're getting the least possible recoil. It doesn't make much difference tbh but every little helps and all that

just to clarify it hits rotom slowbro hippo sableye venu starmie and probably some other stuff as well.

edit : oh you meant offensive SD in general? yeah it's still a very good Fairy check and wincon for offense, way less passive and harder to check than bulky SD.

I'd like to build a team with (not necessarily around) a MManectric/TornT/Chesnaught core, with MMan running Toxic. I feel like I'll want something sweep-y, so what sweepers or win cons would appreciate fast voltturns, knock off, spikes, and particularly Toxic'd Hippodon/TTar/Garchomps?

And is Defog generally worthwhile over our meagre set of Rapid Spinners when you're running Spikes?

Edit: bisharp???
