yo rate my revenge killer gengar pls

so first i maxed out speed and special attack

then i gave him sludgebomb,focus blast ,shadowball,thunderbolt

how did i do
First, is he Timid? If not, put Timid.
Second, I recommend replacing Thunderbolt with a utility move such as Pain Split or Substitute. Pain Split because Gengar needs a more reliable form of recovery, and Substitute because Gengar can do a lot of damage to a team when it's behind a sub.
And lastly, what's its item? I suggest using either Life Orb or Black Sludge, for either a massive boost to its damage output, or a form of passive recovery, allowing it to survive a little bit longer.

i gave it a choice scarf for more speed so its out speeding is guaranteed

I know it's a bit theorymoning but with the old type chart, is Aegislash less broken ?
It loses two weakness (dakr / ghost) but his ghost STAB is a lot less scary in return.

Why does 7/10 teams I face = Wish Killers team
Not sure what exactly you mean by the term 'Wish Killers', but I would venture to say A.) You mean it is a person's team that people tend to copy and run for themselves. or B.) Wish passing. Now the second option is probably really silly in this case, so I will venture to go with it is a person's team. After a brief stint of research (ie Google) I found that Wish Killers team is a stall based team that makes use of Chansey, Keldeo, Bisharp, Mega Venusaur, Skarmory, and Heatran. The main reason I could see people using this team is because stall is one of the more leisurely methods of playstyle where you don't have to take nearly as many risks to be met with as much success, and one can assume that since many people run this particular team, it is met with vast amounts of success. So that would be the main reason that approximately 70% of teams you face are based around, or direct copies of Wish Killer's team.

So with Aegislash gone, what pokemon still run Ghost/Dark coevrage besides pokemon who get STAB and random knock off users? Like, low ladder Greninjas and Gardevoirs still run it when higher ladder ones have dropped the moves (maybe the low ladder didn't get the memo), but are there any non-STAB ghost/dark users?

Well, Mew, Scizor, Landorus, Thundurus, and sometimes Azumarill still use Knock Off and Scizor sometimes uses Pursuit. That's all I can actually think of, but I'm sure there are some other non-STAB users of Ghost- and Dark-types moves.

Outside of the occasional Sucker Punch+Knock Off user, not very many Pokemon in OU really utilize those types without them having it as STAB. Sure you can throw a Shadow Ball on Alakazam here, a Knock Off on Landorus-T there, but nothing really dual wields that type without having some form of STAB from it with Aegislash now being gone. (I also forgot the once in awhile Pursuit trapper, thanks Aragorn for covering that one.)

So basically just Knock Off users at higher ranks of the ladder then. Alright. That's what I figured. Lots of lower ladder non STAB shadow balls though. Guess they don't realize the only targets are either banned or hit harder by other things.

Shadow Ball offers very little coverage now, even with the steel nerf, and should only be used generally if no other options are available.

Hey I'm having trouble trying to fix my team up for the (inevitable) mega mawile ban. I don't really know what to replace mega mawile with but I am willing to change around my team a bit. I am only willing to replace Greninja and Mawile

Hey there friend, the nicer place to go would be the Rate My Team thread, which can be found here: https://www.smogon.com/forums/forums/rate-my-team.52/

have a question for the suspect testing. does my account have to have my name in showdown in order to vote once i reach a coil of 2700 ??? example my name is sebbydaman but my name in showdown is ban mawile now . will there be a prob once voting begins if i submit under a different name for showdown??

Nah, a lot of people ladder of reqs on different alts, just a simple screenshot showing that it was actually you getting the reqs (Would be best having your Smogon account profile page open in another tab and screenshot the title of both just to things).

Hi Smogon,

Just wanted to drop a quick question. I've come across a useful article : https://www.smogon.com/smog/issue28/teambuilding, but was wondering if the frameworks outlined in are are still relevant to the current metagame (e.g. The point about weather due to G5 nerf), if not, are there other articles that touch on teambuilding frameworks that are relevant to the current metagame? Thanks in advance for the help.

There was an old guide that was written a while back that got buried in the forum. It hasn't been updated for a while, but at a glance it still seems relevant. Here's the URL: https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/team-building-guide.3502654/.

Hey everyone. I just got a 3ds and y. I beat it and would like to try competitive but need help. If anyone can help with teams and moves that would be greatly appreciated. If you can please message me.

ok so i know that knock off is 1.5x power versus a pokemon with an item but doesnt get a 1.5x boost versus a mega so its only at 65 base power. My question is that is it only 1.5x up to 97.5 if it knocks off the item? Like is it still 65 base power versus a sticky hold mon?

I was thinking of a forming a core of Keldeo and Celebi wherein Celebi has sub/baton pass in order to set up and escape from bisharp. If Knock off is only 65 base power versus a pokemon behind a sub then keldeo can keep its sub intact after a baton pass from celebi even in the face of life orb bisharp (celebi's subs are 101 hp)

252+ Atk Life Orb Bisharp Knock Off vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Keldeo: 81-95 (25 - 29.4%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
(81, 82, 82, 83, 84, 86, 86, 87, 88, 90, 90, 91, 92, 94, 94, 95)

this would put a lot of pressure on the team with bisharp, but if its still 97.5 base power even though it wouldnt be able to knock off the item since its behind a sub then the sub breaks after a pass...its kind of embarassing i dont know this lol but i think this should work? I can't think of any ou pokemon that takes less than 100hp in damage from a lo bisharps knock off at 97.5 base power so i hope it works this way
