OM Room Community Create-a-Team!

wonderful art by Rex The Eater Of Worlds

Welcome to the OM Community Create-a-Team, a twice-a-month event where the OM community comes together to create a team for one of our many metagames!

During a CCAT, the host(s) will present the room with a core, and from there will guide users step-by-step through creating an entire team from it! Users will have the opportunity to present potential teammates, moveset adjustments, or specific EV spreads to suit the team, with the goal of making a final team that's both viable and fun! Once the team is created, the host(s) will start up a roomtour, and any players who get into finals using the team we made will get a spot in our CCAT Hall of Fame, alongside the team itself.

There's four stages to this process.

Submission stage: The month's schedule will be posted in this thread as well as edited into the OP post. Users will have up until the day before the event to submit a core of 2 Pokemon they'd like to build around in this thread. If you see a submission you'd like to see featured, give it a :alomomola: LOVE react!

Voting Stage: On the day before the event, a poll featuring the 3 submissions with the most love reacts will be started in the OM Room on PS! The winner of this poll will be the one centered around during the event!

Teambuilding Stage: The teambuilding event will last roughly an hour, potentially running longer if disagreement occurs. Hosts will first present the winning core, and from there, it's all in the hands of the users! Users will comment in chat about potential moveset or EV adjustments as well as what team member to add next. Creative and unconventional suggestions are encouraged, so long as they're viable! If there's a general consensus on a minor change, the host can implement it at their own discretion, but otherwise a short poll will be conducted. The team is complete once 6 Pokemon have been added and, at host and roomstaff discretion, there's a general consensus that the team is finished.

The Tournament Stage: Once the team is complete, the host (or roomstaff) will start a roomtour of the metagame the team was built for! Users are not required to bring the newly created team, as this tour will serve to highlight any notable weaknesses in the team to be noted. Any player who enters finals while using the CCAT team will earn a spot in the Hall of Fame!

If you're interesting in hosting a future CCAT or would like to suggest a metagame for the next month, please send Gimmicky a message

Scream Tail beats dark types with PixiBurst, allowing Polteageist to set up a Shell Smash and spam Shadow Ball and Stored Power (EDIT: and Giga Drain for RegenVest Swampert), with Queenly Majesty to block priority.

Figured I'd throw my own hat in the ring to celebrate getting this off the ground!

:sv/iron-crown: :sv/roaring-moon:
This Core in particularly truly exemplifies the best traits of both of these Pokemon, simultaneously being some of the most dangerous offensive threats on the team they're on while also playing defense surprisingly well until momentum is back in your favor, a pretty easy ask given their powerful pivoting moves. This core rewards aggressive play like nothing else while also not immediately crumpling on the backfoot. If you're thinking, "this core looks a bit slow", Crown's Hadron Engine is amazing for rewarding unconvential Surge Surfer users like Ogerpon-W, Ceruledge, or Garchomp, immediately shoring up the Speed issue

AV Offensive Moon and Iron Crown are perfect for enabling powerful offensive teams while maintaining a solid defensive backbone. Iron Crown handles powerful threats to Roaring Moon like Primarina, Scream Tail, and Latios, while Roaring Moon helps handle threats like Gholdengo, Sandy Shocks, and offensive Fire-types that Crown struggles with. Together, they can also readily check Zapdos and Deoxys-S! This core also frees up the regen slot for an offensive user like Iron Hands or Tail Glow Manaphy! All in all, I think this unconvential core is the perfect setup to enable an offensive team that rewards aggressive play and that people can actually have fun playing with :D

:iron-hands: Iron Hands
:ogerpon-hearthflame: Ogerpon-Hearthflame
Seeing as everyone else is posting a reason, I might as well do the same.

You see, I am not very experienced in AAA. I think this could be my chance to get into the meta.

MGLO :iron-hands: with Supercell Slam is basically the closest thing AAA has to HPCB MMX Photon Geyser from USUM Pure Hackmons (the OM goat).

I can already see Desolate Land :ogerpon-hearthflame: being fun to use. Not only does it have beeg stronk Fire STAB, but it also has STAB instant Solar Blade.

:pmd/great tusk::pmd/zapdos:
DO NOT HATE (you know who you are)! Spread flexible, moves very slightly flexible

I made a more detailed post on Trace, but TLDR Trace Great Tusk is good because you can copy many abilities (Regenerator, Prankster, Sword of Ruin, Fluffy most commonly) and be useful in many situations. Zapdos is a great partner, supplementing it defensively to an extent but more importantly being able to help it recover health by getting it into RegenVests (Roaring Moon, Swampert, Iron Hands, nicher ones like Iron Treads) to Trace Regenerator, while also pressuring RegenVest Manaphy/Primarina (they beat Great Tusk).
Tusk - Heavy defensive spread I believe is optimal to better check threats like Roaring Moon, speed creeps most Pecharunts, Taunt I think is very unnegotiable because its very good into Prank Corviknight and Pecharunt, Knock is nice to disallow Zapdos for free but Spin is doable if need the removal. STABs necessary to hit everything (e.g. Press for Corviknight, EQ for Pecharunt). Covert Cloak mainly blocks poisons from Pecharunt, but also blocks Scald burns in a pinch, and rare stuff like Ice Punch Freeze.

Zap - More defensive spread provided but can go more offensive or vice versa. Given spread creeps max speed Jolly Tusk rest in bulk. I've seen 248/204/56+ instead to creep max neutral Tusk for example.

:pmd/pawmot: :pmd/rabsca:
DO NOT HATE (you know who you are)! (Rabsca's) Spread flexible, moves not very slightly flexible

I have not made a more detailed post on Revival Blessing , but TLDR Revival Blessing Pawmot is good because you can revive many teammates and be useful in many situations. Rabsca is a great partner, supplementing it with more Revival Blessings to an extent but more importantly being able to help revive it when it is dead, while also Reviving teammates.

Pawmot - Max HP and Speed to get as many Revival Blessings as possible, Max HP also allows for maximum output Wishes.

Rabsca - Max HP and Def to live as many Physical attacks as possible.

This is the undoubtedly the AAA core.

After talking it over, I've exercised a bit of host discretion and taken an unviable core out of the running. Remember that the goal here is a core that is both viable and fun/easy for the community to build around! The three remaining cores with the most love reacts are:

Gimmicky's Hadron Engine Iron Crown + Sword of Ruin Roaring Moon with 3 Love Reacts!

mayonnaise. mayo.'s Magic Guard Iron Hands + Desolate Land Ogerpon-Hearthflame with 4 Love Reacts across two posts!

Chessking345's Trace Great Tusk + Primordial Sea Zapdos with 7 Love Reacts!

Head over to the OM Room on PS! to vote now!

OM Community Create-a-Team 1 is finished!

:great-tusk::zapdos::empoleon::scream-tail::roaring-moon::ogerpon-wellspring:

A big thank you to anyone who helped contribute to the team! The tour has been delayed due to a daily, but if anyone enters finals with this team, they'll be edited into the Hall of Fame! (Edit: GZ to byulharang !)

There will be a short grace period of a few days before submissions for Mix and Mega open. In that time, feel free to discuss the team, thoughts on how the event was run, or anything else related to the project!

Oh boy, here we go.

:iron-valiant: + :lucarionite:
I have no else to say other than this thing murders. Over 400 in both Attack and Speed is absolutely insane. Not to mention this thing now has increased murder capabilities thanks to Adaptability on stuff like CC and Spirit Break. This guy is the penultimate non-ESpeed MnM physical wallbreaker.

:garganacl: + :latiasite:
Garganacl is extremely underrated. Bro is a pile of rocks. Rocks are very sturdy. Being sturdy means he can (you guessed it) tank PixiSpeed better. Furthermore, the Levitate from Latiasite gives this goober an immunity to Ground moves (aka literally just Great Tusk). So yeah, this thing can wall like crazy.

:sandy shocks::urshifu-rapid-strike:

Glalitite Sandy Shocks is a funny mon, it's not the best set but BoltBeam funny so whatever. Shifu just seemed like a nice teammates cause shocks bothers stuff like etern and corv which shifu doesn't like so much.

:kilowattrel: :great tusk:
Kilo is extremely good esp Lucarionite set ( or Blue orb fishing for para/confused) tho i haven't really seen anyone using this mon. Moreover, Great Tusk is a great partner here because it helps to punish stuff that walls kilo such as Garga, Eternatus, Clodsire,... This core looks decent and surely can do something in game

:arceus-ghost: :regieleki:
I know you low ladder players hate Regieleki but it is S tier for a reason. It base 200 speed is incredibly good. Access to Rapid Spin lets it remove hazards; Explosion trades against potential threats or can chunks defensive mons on the switch. Altarianite matchs up well against dark types, which is amazing for Arceus-Ghost. Arceus-Ghost can act as a defensive mon that can set up with Calm Mind and neuter physical threats with Will-O-Wisp. Ghost is an incredible offensive type in the tier as dark types are already handled by Regieleki and the normal type is almost nonexistent. Arceus-Ghost can also run offensive Calm Mind sets with Substitute for Toxic and :Garganacl:

The three cores with the most Love reacts are:

Pomellow's Arceus-Ghost + Altarianite Regieleki with 6 reacts

Icemaster's Ho-Oh + Necrozma Dusk-Mane with 11 reacts

SpaceSpeakers's Lucarionite Kilowattrel + Great Tusk with a whopping 23 reacts!

Voting is now LIVE in the Other Metagames room on PS, and will run until the event starts tomorrow! Head over and vote now, and if you submitted a core you'd like to clarify sets for, feel free to dm tomorrow's host, kenn!

We have now completed OM CCAT #2 --- a MnM team around Lucarionite Kilowattrel and Great Tusk!

:kilowattrel::great tusk::magearna::walking wake::arceus-water::dragonite:

Huge shoutout to SpaceSpeakers for the core and a further shoutout to prunyy pyu Pomellow for helping with the team (with a small bit of commentary from pecha nerd and Glory lol).

Also congratulations to jl36808+ratio for winning the CCAT room tour (with the CCAT even!) Here is the replay between them and pyu!

I had a ton of fun hosting this and would love to do more Gimmicky :psyglad:
Chessking also helped with suggesting Endeavor Kilo :heart:

Kinda bummed we didn’t have the heat Covert Wisp Normceus but it was for the better. Pretty fun team regardless!

JANUARY CCAT EVENTS

OM Create-a-Team 3 will be hosted on January 10th at 7PM GMT+0!

You may now start submitting Nature Swap cores!

:flutter-mane::magearna: Double Specs Fairy Spam

Break down shared fairy resists, Magearna can Trick Blissey and wear it down while also getting Flutter in safely. Pair with water resists and stuff to beat Big Araquanid:tm: and its subsidiary Big Azumarill:tm:. Also pair with hazards to break Big Blissey:tm: even more.

Edit: since Magearna is banned, replace with Primarina, no Trick but does the same pivoting thing

As I said before, bro is the next Garchomp. STAB Earthquake with Sash SD could be absolutely devastating for everybody. In a good way, of course. Plus Tera is legal as I am writing this, so Tera Grass removes the two 4x weaknesses.

:scream-tail: (115/65/99/115/65/111)
You turn into this every time you step on a Lego brick. Another abuser of Tera, Normal STAB Boomburst with a real Special Attack is insanely scary. Not to mention how even the 80/90 BP STABs Dazzling Gleam and Psychic respectfully do decent damage as well.
