Project OU Next Best Thing - Cycle Last: Mega Latias (Voting)

UtilitySerp - recently popularized by ABR

A good fit on HO's and some bulky offense builds. 4th slot is customizable as this serp doesn't necessarily want to sweep on it's own. It sure brings sweeping potential for a supporter though

Serperior @ Assault Vest
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power Fire
- Mirror Coat

General idea
In paper, Serperior has good numerical defenses (75/95/95), but in pratice the Grass typing really holds back its defensive capabilities.
Assault Vest makes up enough to check better some special attackers and deal some extra damage to them.
Mirror Coat is here in order to KO some traditional counter that usually forces this snake out of the battlefield, so Giga Drain is mandatory to keep our HP at their fullest. Keep in mind that Mirror Coat doesn't need a prior Leaf Storm to deal damage.
Leaf Storm and HP Fire are mandatory for an AoA set like this one for power and coverage.

Calcs:
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Dark Pulse vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Serperior: 153-181 (52.5 - 62.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Heatran Magma Storm vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Serperior: 252-296 (86.5 - 101.7%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO after trapping damage (pretty close, but with some luck Serperior survives and can use Mirror Coat)
252 SpA Charizard-Mega-Y Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Serperior: 236-282 (81 - 96.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (but we need the Sun out of the picture)
0 SpA Tornadus-Therian Hurricane vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Serperior: 180-212 (61.8 - 72.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Latios-Mega Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Serperior: 160-190 (54.9 - 65.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Team(mates) support
Screens support is really appreciated in order to grant Serperior more opportunities to spam Leaf Storm

yeah, this serp is the actual demon set, with z-flash u not only drop opp's accuracy by one stage but also gives u +1 evasion which will make magma heatran want to change its STAB move. If you can chip/knock off heatran and chip/para torn, it basically will tear apart most teams

The voting is over! By its results, the winner of the Cycle 13 is Utility by Erzengel . Congratulations! Your submission will be added to the Hall of Fame soon. And now we're moving straight to the next Cycle!

Cycle Forteen - Volcarona

The most terrifying moth of OU is finally here! Access to Quiver Dance coupled with great offensive stats make Volcarona hard to stop even at +1, while coverage options and Z-Moves further bolster Volcarona's offensive potential and enable it to just run over large amount of teams. Volcarona typically runs either a bulky or an offensive Quiver Dance set with a Z-Crystal as an item of choice. Which other hot sets can you guys show here?

Banned Sets
no items cuz from mobile

The deadline is Thursday 22nd of August. Good luck!

Volcarona @ Leftovers
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 248 HP / 188 Def / 72 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power [Ground] / Will-o-Wisp
- Roost
- Defog

Volcarona makes a great Defogger by virtue of its typing (ironically) and overall unexpectedness. While its typing may leave it detrimental to Stealth Rock, it also lets it wall Ferrothorn, Mega Mawile, Kyurem-B and generic physical attackers if healthy. It punishes these mons with a Flame Body burn or Wisping them. It also makes an effective lure to offensive Heatran with HP Ground. It also checks CM+Split Mage if unboosted. EVs outspeed Modest Tran, standard Fini, Timid Mage, etc. For partners, this set generally fits on stall, and can glue the classic Sableye+Chansey core with a Maw and Hera check that also Defogs. Mega Tyranitar may be a problem though, but Gliscor/Quagsire can block that while providing Defog/Unaware.

No Fire STAB aka "Cold Heat"

Volcarona @ Psychium Z
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Psychic
- Hidden Power [Ground] / [Ice]

Volcarona usually has to decide between hitting Heatran or Toxapex. What if you could hit both? Well, that would mean dropping either Bug STAB or Fire STAB. Thankfully, Magnet Pull exists, so losing Fire STAB is less of an issue. And should you use Alolem instead of Magnezone, you can even use HP Ice to bop Lando and Gliscor.

Volcarona @ Firium Z
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Fire Blast
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power Ground

Giga Drain gives you the opportunity to recover health from water/ground pokemon. Once Volcarona has set up with Quiver Dance Inferno Overdrive can KO pokemon to clear the way for your team.
