Let's finish this Cycle! By the voting's results, the winner of the Cycle 18 is Whirpool by BlueLobster . Congratulations! Your submission will be added to the Hall of Fame soon. And now, we're moving forward!

Cycle Nineteen - Snorlax
:ss/snorlax:

The Big Lax arrives! With its really huge bulk and good firepower Snorlax is able to pose both offensive and defensive threat: it easily can act as, for example, a Curse sweeper and a nice check to dangerous Pokemon like Kyurem and Chandelure. The said Curse sweeper set is Snorlax's most common option right now, but we all do remember from past gens how versatile and unpredictable Snorlax can be. So, we want you guys to demonstrate here that Snorlax should never be treated as a one trick pony!

Starf Berry
Snorlax @ Starf Berry
Ability: Gluttony
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Recycle
- Rest
- Darkest Lariat
- Body Slam

CurseLax but luck-based. Starf Berry raises a random stat by 2 when at 1/4 max HP or less. With Gluttony, that changes into 1/2 max HP or less.
Recycle allows you to boost up until you become an unlikable force, or you get destroyed early on. Either one works.

Being able to "set up" on Clef is nice though.

I spent a while thinking of what Snorlax could do that wasn't outclassed and I came up with this nuisance. Yawn is an annoying move in general, forcing opponents to switch or sack a mon to sleep. After coming in on a passive mon like Clefable, or Kyurem's Ice Beam, Snorlax can freely Yawn to force the incoming mon into a tough choice. Snorlax can just click the appropriate move at that point, with Heat Crash beating Corv and Ferro, EQ beating Pex and Chandelure (and having a 78.5% chance to 2HKO Pult after rocks), and Body Slam taking a nice chunk out of anything else. Lefties provides longevity. Max HP, enough Speed for Pex, and the rest in Attack.

I'm going to be honest. You should only ever use this set with Magnezone. But since we haven't got that yet, pack enough Fire, Fighting and Ground type moves to kill 3 of Ferrothorn, Corviknight and Aegislash. Also pack a bunch of ghost counters. Also ideally have some pivots to bring this in. Oh, and don't forget random WishPort Clef. Once you have all these pieces of Exodia, this thing might work for you.

This thing is like a much worse Dracovish, you only need to click one move once you curse. Like Lord Vish, this set is pretty ill, it will still kill bill a lot of things.

For reference this is what it does to non-resists.

+1 252+ Atk Snorlax Last Resort vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Clefable: 432-508 (109.6 - 128.9%) -- guaranteed KO in 1 turns after Leftovers recovery
+1 252+ Atk Metronome Snorlax Last Resort vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 353-415 (89.5 - 105.3%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO (2nd Turn Metronome)
+1 252+ Atk Snorlax Last Resort vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Rotom-Heat: 315-372 (103.9 - 122.7%) -- guaranteed KO in 1 turns
+1 252+ Atk Snorlax Last Resort vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Hippowdon: 214-253 (50.9 - 60.2%) -- not a KO
+1 252+ Atk Snorlax Last Resort vs. 252 HP / 200+ Def Kommo-o: 214-253 (60.4 - 71.4%) -- not a KO

+1 252+ Atk Snorlax Last Resort vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Toxapex: 178-211 (58.5 - 69.4%) -- not a KO

I have attached a variation of this set which you can also use, but requires a turn of setup with Curse in a spoiler below. My submission however, is purely the above set. Enjoy.

Doesn't Last Resort fail if it's the only move you know? The only reason Komala could pull it off is with Sleep Talk.

Big Brother (Snorlax) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 204 HP / 88 Def / 216 SpD
Careful Nature
- Whirlwind

- Sleep Talk
- Body Slam

This set is shamelessly stolen from gen4. Thanks to it’s juicy bulk, snorlax can act as a pseudo chansey, capable of phazing, while spreading paralysis. This makes snorlax a wonderful blanket check to a number of special set up sweepers, while acting as a solid status absorber, and paralysis spreader. While at first it may seem redundant, and even counterintuitive by preventing snorlax from taking advantage of its qualities as a set up sweeper (or even a more offensive set), whirlwind prevents special set up sweepers such as primarina, salazzle, as well as togekiss (if you’re lucky) from wrecking havoc. For example, salazzle and primarina can cripple snorlax with status, therefore forcing it to preemptively rest. This not only opens up holes for their teammates to capitalize on, it also allows them to gain free setup turns, as well as opportunities to come in and pressure your team. With whirlwind and rest talk, snorlax not only loses its passivity during its sleep turns, it allows it to pressure the opponent through the spread of paralysis, and by gaining momentum through the phasing of setup attempts and or switch ins.

This set works well on defensive teams and balances focused on hazard stack and the spread of status, chipping opponents, while preventing traditional balance breakers from doing their work, while also allowing hex dragapult and gengar to break the opponent. EVs optimize your special bulk, while hitting a leftovers number, and allowing you to phazer a +2 excadrill in a pinch.

tl;dr: fuck these prima + lazzle balances

Facade Snorlax (I don't know if it really is enough original, though, so please Egor tell me if you accept this set)

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Curse
- Facade
- Rest
- Heat Crash

General idea
One of the biggest issue Snorlax has is the low Spe stat that leaves it prone to be revenge killed and/or statused easily. Yes, Rest is here to get rid of the detrimental status Snorlax is affected to, but it is not that reliable and leaves you as a set-up bait. On the other hand, Facade uses a status thrown at Snorlax (i.e. a burn from a random Scald) transforming it into an additional power boost on our Normal-type STAB. Sometimes happens that a random Scald ruins your glorious Atk stat, thus forcing you to use twice Curse, but with Facade you are going to have the upper hand rather easily in a scenario like this.
The worst thing is that the threat that burns you is a Ghost-type....but in that case you can simply switch out and keep your Snorlax burned until you need to spam your Normal STAB.
The remaining moves are the usual ones of the Curse+Leftovers set.
This set murders and uses at its advantage special attackers, especially those with WoW (because you can stall it without the need to use Rest quickly).

EVs (spread) and item
The EVs spread and the item is stolen from the dex. I was torn between using Leftovers and Flame Orb (for consistency) but I thought that Leftovers would have been more useful in order to hide Facade until it was too late for the opponent.
Calcs:
0 Atk Snorlax Facade (140 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Salazzle: 246-291 (88.8 - 105%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery

+1 0 Atk Snorlax Facade (140 BP) vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Ninetales-Alola: 310-366 (88.8 - 104.8%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO
+1 0 Atk Snorlax Facade (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 214-253 (54.3 - 64.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 0 Atk Snorlax Facade (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Seismitoad: 211-250 (50.9 - 60.3%) -- 90.6% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 0 Atk Snorlax Facade (140 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Primarina: 313-369 (103.9 - 122.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 0 Atk Snorlax Facade (140 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Togekiss: 255-301 (81.9 - 96.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

+2 0 Atk Snorlax Facade (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 104 Def Gastrodon: 390-459 (91.5 - 107.7%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery (otherwise, without SR it is a coin toss)
+2 0 Atk Snorlax Facade (140 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hydreigon: 357-420 (109.8 - 129.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+1 0 Atk Snorlax Body Slam vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Rotom-Heat: 141-166 (46.5 - 54.7%) -- 62.1% chance to 2HKO
+1 0 Atk Snorlax Body Slam vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Toxapex: 79-94 (25.9 - 30.9%) -- 4.7% chance to 4HKO after Black Sludge recovery

Team(mates) support
Ghost-type pokèmons are a problem due to the lack of Crunch or similar moves, unless they are already at low hp, so some partners to get rid of them is necessary.

Never done one of these before. Decided to not even try and make something good since all the good ideas have gone. So I present to you the utter monstrosity that is:

SPECSLAX

Snorlax the God (Snorlax) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Fire Blast
- Psychic
- Surf / Seed Bomb

With Specs, Snorlax hits an almost acceptable special attack stat of 377. Eat your heart out, Kyurem! Let
s see how this faces up to some of OU's defensive behemoths:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Snorlax Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Ferrothorn: 444-524 (126.1 - 148.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Snorlax Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Corviknight: 286-338 (71.5 - 84.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Choice Specs Snorlax Psychic vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Toxapex: 152-180 (50 - 59.2%) -- 74.6% chance to 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery
252+ SpA Choice Specs Snorlax Surf vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-Heat: 194-230 (63.8 - 75.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Snorlax Hyper Voice vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-Wash: 145-172 (47.8 - 56.7%) -- 89.1% chance to 2HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Snorlax Surf vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Hippowdon: 270-318 (64.2 - 75.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Of course, there are some things you can't beat. Clefable laughs at anything you can do. Seed Bomb is slashed cos it 2HKOs most Seismitoad, but doesn't do much to anything else.

The best thing about this set is surprise value. It can break Corvi, Rotom, Drill and Hippo decently, plus Pex with a bit of hazard damage. Don't expect much else though and ensure you can beat Clef and Toad (if you're not using Seed Bomb).

Some replays of me playing terribly for a laugh that still somehow illustrate this set doing its job:
Corviknight gets ROASTED (much like me for posting this)
'Lax making a late game hail mary

Edited to include Seedbomb as an option

Snorlax @ Assault Vest
Ability: Immunity
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Crunch
- Darkest Lariat
- Gunk Shot
- Outrage
What makes Snorlax so good is that it can't be hit by ghost nor get poisoned, so I made a Special Wall Physical Attacker. Let's check this thing out!
-
- Assault Vest: This tanks special attacks while still being able to do lots of decent damage with its movepool.
Moves that Snorlax would normally take damage for are Dazzling Gleam, Dark Pulse, Giga Drain, and other special moves.
However it will get killed by a special wallbreaker - not to mention calm mind boosts. (Goes to some calm mind set-uppers)
- Crunch and Darkest Lariat: Kills Gengar, Dragapult, Aegislash, and other mons that are weak to Dark, those are Jirachi and Mew. If Gengar disables your Crunch or Darkest Lariat you can always go for the other one, which will still do massive damage.
252+ Atk Snorlax Crunch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Aegislash-Shield: 128-152 (49 - 58.2%) -- 96.9% chance to 2HKO
252+ Atk Snorlax Darkest Lariat vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Aegislash-Shield: 136-160 (52.1 - 61.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Snorlax Crunch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Dragapult: 216-256 (68.1 - 80.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Snorlax Darkest Lariat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Dragapult: 230-272 (72.5 - 85.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Snorlax Darkest Lariat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gengar: 274-324 (104.9 - 124.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Snorlax Crunch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gengar: 258-304 (98.8 - 116.4%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Snorlax Darkest Lariat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Jirachi: 180-214 (52.7 - 62.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Snorlax Crunch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Jirachi: 170-202 (49.8 - 59.2%) -- 99.6% chance to 2HKO
252+ Atk Snorlax Darkest Lariat vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mew: 180-214 (44.5 - 52.9%) -- 26.6% chance to 2HKO
252+ Atk Snorlax Crunch vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mew: 170-202 (42 - 50%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO
- Gunk Shot: Used to kill the fairies, as seen in my Obstagoon set. OHKOs Grimmsnarl and 2HKOs Clefable, Hatterene, and probably Togekiss.
252+ Atk Snorlax Gunk Shot vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Clefable: 328-388 (83.2 - 98.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Snorlax Gunk Shot vs. 92 HP / 0 Def Grimmsnarl: 362-428 (102.2 - 120.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Snorlax Gunk Shot vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Hatterene: 268-316 (84.2 - 99.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Snorlax Gunk Shot vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Togekiss: 268-316 (86.1 - 101.6%) -- 0% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery
- Outrage: Will most likely 2HKO all dragons, which are Dracovish, Dragapult, Hydreigon, and Defensive Kommo-o. What's good to note is this move will always last 2 turns and out, so you can technically OHKO all the threats shown above.
252+ Atk Snorlax Outrage vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Dracovish: 256-302 (79.5 - 93.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Snorlax Outrage vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Dragapult: 324-382 (102.2 - 120.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Snorlax Outrage vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hydreigon: 280-330 (86.1 - 101.5%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Snorlax Outrage vs. 252 HP / 200+ Def Kommo-o: 164-194 (46.3 - 54.8%) -- 10.9% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Snorlax Outrage vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Kyurem: 278-328 (71 - 83.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
This set is checked by High Jump Kick (or other fighting move) Cinderace, Conkeldurr, and other Fighting move threats.

Impish Nature

Trap a passive wall while it setup rocks, tries to toxic you, or whatever, then let it struggle to death. If a team has no more breakers they can't beat this thing at all actually. I thought Leppa+Recycle was banned but apparently it's not so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .

TIL you can draw after 500 turns.

A less troll-ish set replaces Leppa, Stockpile, and Recycle, with Lefties, Curse, and Body Slam/Darkest Lariat in order to trap a wall and set up to +6 for free, but that never really works.

I think that you forgot to update the calcs once you removed the Choice Band on your set because those calcs don't make sense with your Metronome set.

Snorlax @ Choice Band
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 108 HP / 252 Atk / 148 Def
Adamant Nature
- Body Slam
- Heat Crash
- Earthquake
- Double-Edge

Choice Band Snorlax is able to put immediate pressure on the opponent's team in many situations. Snorlax is bulky enough to take most neutral hits, and your opponent will have to face down one of Snorlax's attacks should they choose to stay in. The EVs are to take scarfed Dracovish's max attack Fishious Rend from full health. Body Slam is a reliable attack that can be spammed multiple times in a game and possibly paralyze a pokemon, making it much easier to deal with for the rest of your team. Heat Crash is for Corviknight and Ferrothorn, the two steel types that aren't weak to ground. Earthquake hits most other steel and rock types. The last moveslot is very flexible, but Double-Edge is a great option for breaking once said steel and rock types are fainted or weakened. This set should be sent in on free turns to ensure it can come in multiple times in a single game.

It's a typical set with a little flair. Skull Bash gives you an immediate defense boost with a powerful ass move. After you get a boost or two, it shouldn't matter as much having a two-turn battering ram move that keeps up some momentum giving you more defense boosts.

Recycle Starf Curselax
Starf Berry boosts a random stat by 2 stages, so if we keep looping it through gluttony and recycle, we can do a pretty good moody impression, boosting all of snorlax's stats to the point where it should sweep. Rest grants snorlax recovery, as switching out would stop the setup.

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 212 SpD / 44 Spe
Careful Nature
- Substitute
- Toxic
- Body Slam
- Heat Crash

Trades in the ability to boost up with Curse and heal with Rest for being able to better handle stuff like Unaware Clefable, Corviknight, Seistoad, etc with Toxic while also avoiding Trick from things like Rotom-H with Substitute and can stall out Toxapex more hence the Speed EVs allowing Snorlax to outspeed Toxapex so it can sub before it can potentially Scald burn Snorlax, although you still have be wary of Baneful Bunker. Last move can be changed for Darkest Lariat or Earthquake depending on the rest of the team.
