Trick + Toxic Orb
because it is a nice and unexpected combination, not to mention the fact you can obtain a lot of useful items this way simply grabbing it from your opponent (unless that item is Black Sludge or a Choice Band).

The voting phase is over! The resulting winner of Cycle 23 is Trick Toxic Orb by sparkwings. Congratulations! Your submission will be added to the Hall of Fame soon. With that, let's move on to the next cycle!

Cycle Twenty-four - Volcarona
:ss/volcarona:

Since the DLC dropped, Volcarona has been a deadly setup sweeper thanks to its access to Quiver Dance in conjunction with its awesome stats and offensive typing. With the availability of Heavy-Duty Boots, it doesn't have to worry about hazards as much as it did in previous generations. Usually, it either runs an offensive set with Quiver Dance and three attacks or a bulkier one with Roost over Bug Buzz. Do you have any other creative ideas? Let's see them!

Bulky Support

Volcarona @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 248 HP / 196 SpD / 64 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Toxic
- Flamethrower / Mystical Fire
- Defog / U-turn

Magearna is now one of the biggest mons in OU, this set is designed to pivot into any of the Magearna sets and not be punished too badly.
Toxic helps breaks down the bulkier teams as well as scare out steel types and Amoonguss so you can essentially get a free Toxic.
The speed EVs ouspeeds timid max speed Magearna.
Last move depends on you, if you need defog support vs Ferrothorn, Drill..etc go for that.
If you want to catch something like Chansey or Pex and keep momentum vs the bulky mons run U-turn.

Tailwind
:ss/volcarona:
Volcarona @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Tailwind
- U-turn
- Roost
- Flamethrower / Mystical Fire

This set uses Volc's access to Tailwind + U-Turn to aid slower offensive partners. The set is pretty self explanatory; Tailwind+ U-turn allows you to get 3 turns of double speed, Roost provides longevity, and the last is an attack to not be completely dead weight. Flamethrower has a higher damage, but mystical fire can be used to deter things like Rotom from switching in immediately.

Specs Volcarona

:ss/Volcarona:

Volcarona @ Choice Specs
Ability: Swarm
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest / Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
-Fire Blast
-Bug Buzz
-Psychic
-U-Turn

This set forgoes sweeping with Quiver Dance in order to strike with immediate and immense power. Mons that attempt to switch in on an expected QD will be blown back. Fire Blast and Bug Buzz hit incredibly hard, while Psychic nails Toxapex. U-Turn is used to pivot out on forced switches and maintain momentum against Chansey and Blissey, which counter Volcarona. Modest is preferred because it lets Volcarona hit dummy hard while outrunning neutral-nature Urshifu, Kyurem, Hydreigon, etc; Timid maintains its solid base 100 speed tier. Swarm > Flame Body for the extra damage if it gets low.

This set pairs well with anything that can take advantage of bulky Water-types, Mandibuzz, and pink blobs, which Volcarona can U-Turn against to bring in the teammate safely. Some good options are Zeraora and Urshifu. A hazard remover such as Excadrill or Mandibuzz is a necessary partner, as this set cannot use Heavy-Duty Boots.

Substitute + Quiver Dance
:ss/volcarona:

Volcarona @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 104 HP / 252 SpA / 152 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Substitute
- Flamethrower
- Psychic / Bug Buzz

Volcarona is able to withstand many things after a few Quiver Dance boosts and set up Substitutes, making it an even more fearsome sweeper in certain situations. It can also force out things like Magearna, Excadrill, and Rillaboom, which is very appreciated by teams and can even guarantee a free setup. Volcarona got a recent buff this generation in Heavy Duty Boots, which allow it to switch in freely without the annoyance of hazards and requires less team support. 104 EVs are invested into HP to take less than 25% from Choice Band Rillaboom's Grassy Glide, so it doesn't break its Substitutes (and among other things). Flamethrower is used for more consistency over power, which is something you'd want when running bulk. Psychic is important for hitting opposing Fire-types, and other things that resist Flamethrower such as Toxapex and Kommo-o. Bug Buzz is slashed over Psychic to hit things such as Hydreigon and Slowbro, while being strong STAB. This variant of Volcarona excels in late-game, where it can sweep more frequently. (Main threat is Dragapult, thanks to Infrilator and the ability to check and revenge kill it).

Unfortunately the only good set I could think of have already been taken (Bulky Support is Fuego). Therefore, my only contribution is this bad set.

Sun-Moth Solar Beam

:ss/volcarona:
Volcarona @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Bug Buzz
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Psychic

Designed to go on Sun and waste no time wasting folks. Bug / Fire / Grass is only really resisted by other fire types, all of which take a massive chunk from Fire Blast in the Sun anyway. You could theoretically give up on Bug Buzz or Psychic for Quiver Dance, but losing coverage for Solar Beam just isn't worth it, especially with all the Toxapex running around. Timid has been chosen because of how good base 100 speed is in the tier, though Modest does hit like a truck. Psychic allows you to chunk Pex.

This set is not very good, but potentially could be better with some tweaking. Try it out and see what you think.

:ss/volcarona:
Volcarona @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Mystical Fire
- Bug Buzz
- Will-O-Wisp

Thic volcarona-set is based on crippling the opponents team with mystical fire and qill-o-wisp basically to types of crippling the opponents team.
will-o-wisp cripples pokémon like mandibuzz, dragapult, kommo-o and pelipper as they resist both ov volcaronas stab-moves in mystical fire and bug buzz. It can also catch azumarill by surprise and cripples it.
Mystical fire drops the SpAtt stage by 1 and is able to further cripple the opposing mons and mystical fire hits decently hard after a quiver dance-boost.

Assault Vest Volcarona

Volcarona @ Assault Vest
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Flamethrower
- Psychic
- Bug Buzz

The idea behind this set is to soft check some special attackers with the combination of our natural special bulk+Assault Vest.
Giga Drain as 4th attacking move allows Volcarona to have some extra staying power and allows to get past some checks (Ground/Water types not neutral to Grass) while rechargind some hp in the process.

Offensive calcs:
252 SpA Volcarona Giga Drain vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Hippowdon: 222-262 (52.8 - 62.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 SpA Volcarona Giga Drain vs. 252 HP / 108+ SpD Milotic: 116-138 (29.4 - 35%) -- 100% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery (18.6 - 22.1% recovered)

252 SpA Volcarona Giga Drain vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Jellicent: 162-192 (40 - 47.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery (26 - 30.8% recovered)
Jellicent Night Shade vs. 0 HP Volcarona: 100-100 (32.1 - 32.1%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

252 SpA Volcarona Giga Drain vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Seismitoad: 428-504 (103.3 - 121.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Volcarona Bug Buzz vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Seismitoad: 192-226 (46.3 - 54.5%) -- 8.2% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Volcarona Giga Drain vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Gastrodon: 276-328 (64.7 - 76.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery (44.3 - 52.7% recovered)

Defensive calcs:
0 SpA Milotic Scald vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Volcarona: 110-132 (35.3 - 42.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 SpA Milotic Scald vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Volcarona: 168-198 (54 - 63.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

+3 252+ SpA Magearna Fleur Cannon vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Volcarona: 186-219 (59.8 - 70.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+3 252+ SpA Magearna Fleur Cannon vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Volcarona: 279-329 (89.7 - 105.7%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO

0 SpA Starmie Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Volcarona: 152-182 (48.8 - 58.5%) -- 97.3% chance to 2HKO
0 SpA Starmie Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Volcarona: 228-270 (73.3 - 86.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Defog and/or Rapid Spin support is mandatory in order to get rid of Stealth Rocks, which are our nightmare without Heavy-Duty Boosts.

because of WoW that is unexpected together with an offensive Quiver Dance set. Also, I really like the idea to use Mystical Fire.

Cycle Twenty Five - Urshifu-S

fuck it wheres urshifus model

Arguably the scariest wallbreaker of the entire OU, Urshifu-S is here! Urshifu-S's wallbreaking potency is achieved via its huge Attack stat, Unseen Fist ignoring any attempts to scout it via Protect, and almost unresisted Dark / Fighting STAB combination backed up by a high-BP Close Combat and an always critting Wicked Blow. Other traits Urshifu has in its arsenal are various coverage options and decent physical bulk. Urshifu-S is usually seen running a Choice Band set, which maximizes its firepower, but this thing definitely can run more cool sets. Show them here guys!

Life Orb + Bulk Up

Urshifu @ Life Orb
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bulk Up
- Wicked Blow
- Close Combat / Drain Punch
- Sucker Punch

Set Details
• Urshifu is able to dismantle defensive cores such as Mandibuzz + Toxapex thanks to Bulk Up.
• +1 Life Orb hits harder than Choice Band while being able to ideally switch moves.
• You could run Drain Punch over Close Combat to gain quick recovery against passive or weak Pokemon.
• An Adamant nature is preferred to generally hit harder, while destroying offensive threats with Sucker Punch.

Usage Tips
∘ It's almost important to never stay in on a Fairy-type Pokemon, unless it's Magearna where Urshifu can OHKO it with +1 Close Combat (or Drain Punch without HP investment).
∘ +1 Wicked Blow and Close Combat 2HKO Clefable, so don't be afraid to leave a mark on it.
∘ This variant of Urshifu best belongs on hyper offensive builds, where it can apply pressure easily with its STABs and potentially ruin stall.

:urshifu:
Urshifu @ Leftovers
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 56 HP / 252 Atk / 200 Spe
Jolly Nature

- Substitute
- Wicked Blow
- Sucker Punch

- Close Combat

with urshifu behind the substitute it forces the opposing pokémon to break its substitute via attacking it, therefore urshifu can spread damage with a strong hitting stab sucker punch. urshifu can also act like a crit-machine with wicked blow and close combat is its strong stab-option.
urshifu has 200 speed in evs to speed creep base 90 pkmn with maximum of invest in their speed.
the rest is put into bulk to give it some longevity alongside its item in leftovers, so it isnt that easy to wear it down. in general this urshifu-set is really annoying as the opponent is forced to attack to break its sub, thus urshifu can freely use sucker punches on them.
