Before i'll go on to explain my set i'll be frank here, i doubt there's a "better" Celesteela set than the standard one just some different spins on the defensive set or fringe offensive sets. With that being said i think i came up with a decent Cleaner here.

Z Gravity provides Celes with a Special attack boost which makes up for the lack of investment and instantly grounds a lot of pokemon that would otherwise wall it without appropriate coverage. Some notable threats include: Rotom-w, opposing Celesteela, Zapdos while still nailing Targets such as Tangrowth, Tapu bulu, Heatran, Magnezone, Kommo-o and Serperior as well as not being stone walled by Lando-t's intimidate as other physical sets would.

However this set does struggle with power issues as it can't reliably 2hko some of the listed targets meaning it will only be able to pick off it's kills once Stealth Rocks are up or the opponents team has been worn down at which point it can overwhelm them with it's coverage.

Side note: Lonely nature is listed as an alternative Option to give Celes better odds to 2hko the likes of defensive rotom in gravity or guarantee ohko defensive tran however it loses the ability to outspeed rotom and zapdos without an Autotomize up.

Note that Stealth rocks will turn a lot of These into reliable 2hkos and ohkos

Sweeps so many teams once you kill Zapdos and rotom. This feasts on scarf lando and just blasts through the passive stuff with metronome. +1 airslash or EQ will beat pex. Usually they'll try to cheese by swapping bw lando and Tran, but you just keep clicking airslash and then they can't.

Outspeed M-lopunny at +2. You can go +speed nature if you a weakling to beat scarf lando, but outside greninja, most scarfers dont really bother this too much.

AV Celesteela becomes a wall with good coverage against threats that normally force a switch, without losing efficiency against Pokémon that Celes normally walls, such as Tapu Lele and Alakazam. Wish Support is highly recommended but not mandatory.
24 Atk guarantees KO Specs Magnezone and Heatran offensive after SR with EQ. HP and SpD evs let you survive Modest M-Charizard Y Fire Blast in sun, and KO back with Stone Edge.

The last move is a personal preference, Giga Drain 2KO Greninja-Ash and leaves less passive against Rotom-W, HP ICE 2KO Lando and Chomp, while Flamethrower allows not to be completely walled by Ferrothorn.

EVs: 248 HP / 104 Def / 156 SpD

IVs: 0 Atk

General idea
Celesteela is often seen as a slow and quite passive tank, but the addition of Choice Specs allows this Ultra beast to 2HKO some threat that normally are not 2HKOed.
The Choice Specs boost is quite unpredictable and will change the opponent's calculations about the possibility to use our Celesteela as a set-up bait.

EVs (spread) and item
Celesteela can use a spread of 248 HP / 104 Def / 156 SpD with a Bold nature to better check physically offensive threats like Mega Scizor and Mega Pinsir, while still being able to take two HP Fires from Choice Specs Tapu Lele if Stealth Rock is not present on the field.

Have you ever felt like water types are just annoying for Celesteela to deal with? Physical Grassium-Z Celesteela is for you! Celesteela is naturally bulky enough that it can afford to take a hit setting up most of the time. Therefore I decided to run an Autotomize set, as I feel it does decently well against a fair chunk of the metagame. The reason I elected on physical over special is the ground type coverage of earthquake, which deals with a lot of Celesteela's traditional counters.

Never again will Swampert annoy you. Rain is far less of an issue to deal with when using this set. Electric types, defensive Steel types and big Pex run in fear of this Earthquake. Iron Head is just solid STAB which deals with lots of damage to anything that doesn't resist it and can potentially flinch. It is run over Heavy Slam because Autotomize makes you lighter and therefore lessens Heavy Slam's damage.

Zapdos is still a massive issue for this set, so packing team members that check the zappy bird is crucial.

Gimmicky set but it can lure and get rid of pex with msound + air slash + seed. Make sure that u pair it with something that handles lele/zam because now you can lose the 1v1 vs them but u still check stuff like kart/bulu/non-rockium lando/pinsir

Ok, the voting is over, and by its results, the winner of the Cycle 16 is Assault Vest by Tio Chico . Congratulations! Your submission will be added to the Hall of Fame soon. And let's move straight to the next Cycle!

Cycle Seventeen - Mega Scizor
:sm/scizor-mega:

The third defensive Steel-type in a row! Well, Mega Scizor isn't exactly a defensive - it also can act as an effective win condition thanks to Swords Dance and powerful Bullet Punch which, when boosted, eliminates nearly everything late-game, especially with hazards up. While Mega Scizor's only widely used and most viable set is the aforementioned bulky Swords Dance, I expect more intriguing sets from you guys. Go wild!

You are allowed to post sets only for the Mega forme. The deadline is Sunday 15th of September. Good luck!

Agility Mega Scizor

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 152+ Atk / 8 Def / 100 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Agility
- Iron Head
- Superpower
- Knock Off

General idea
Agility Mega Scizor is an original way to face HO teams fixing that lowish Spe with Agility, which replaces Swords Dance in this matchup-based Scizor.
Iron Head is picked over Bullet Punch due to the extra power. Knock Off combines both utility and coverage, whereas Superpower can lure and weaken some key threats, including pokemons with lure moves (such as Tyranitar).
Superpower is really helpful in order to get rid of some key Steels despite it forces Scizor to switch out.

EVs (spread)

152+ Atk EVs allow to achieve this feature: 152+ Atk Scizor-Mega Superpower vs. 8 HP / 4 Def Magnezone: 266-314 (93.9 - 110.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock.
100 Spe EVs allow to reach 211 base Spe (one point over neutral nature + 16 Spe EVs Tapu Fini and Kommo-o, just to use a Knock Off or dealing some chip damage to them) and 422 after an Agility boost

Calcs:
152+ Atk Scizor-Mega Superpower vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 286-338 (74 - 87.5%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
152+ Atk Scizor-Mega Superpower vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Heatran: 284-336 (87.9 - 104%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
152+ Atk Scizor-Mega Superpower vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Kartana: 238-282 (91.5 - 108.4%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
-1 152+ Atk Scizor-Mega Superpower vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tyranitar: 368-436 (107.9 - 127.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
-1 152+ Atk Scizor-Mega Superpower vs. 168 HP / 0 Def Tyranitar-Mega: 284-336 (74.1 - 87.7%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
152+ Atk Scizor-Mega Iron Head vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Tornadus-Therian: 180-213 (60 - 71%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
152+ Atk Scizor-Mega Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Tornadus-Therian: 180-213 (49.7 - 58.8%) -- 99.6% chance to 2HKO

Team(mates) support
A way to deal properly with Electric and Water-type pokèmons is mandatory in order to avoid switching out after the Agility boost.
Wish support is also really appreciated because you have to drop Roost.

I don't normally use Mega Scizor because a) it has an extremely exploitable weakness, and b) it can't even use shed shell to escape Magnezone, which exploits this weakness. That said, here's a set I might use if I were to use Mega Scizor:

Scizor-Mega @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
IVs: 30 Atk
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Struggle Bug
- Roost
- Knock Off / U-Turn / Bullet Punch

This set uses Scizor's mostly excellent typing to check certain wallbreakers. Hidden power fire OHKOs Kartana, which fails to OHKO back with a +2 sacred sword, or 2HKO with banded sacred sword. Max SpD allows Scizor to wall Lele lacking HP fire and cm Magearna. Struggle bug stops the former two from fully setting up. The last move slot (aside from obligatory roost) has a few options; knock off is generally good utility, u-turn is great for momentum (and getting away from Magnezone on a predicted switch), while bullet punch is just good priority STAB that can finish off Lele and Magearna. This set can also check banded Bulu, which is a boon for stall.

Double Edge Offensive Scizor
Scizor-Mega @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 244 Atk / 16 Def
Adamant Nature
- Roost
- Swords Dance
- Double-Edge
- Bullet Punch

If you want, you can drop tons of HP to go faster than rotom, but then you lose ability to check kartana. This scizor cheeses past waters and other fat non-resists that try to check it. You know, like pex or that dumb SD gliscor that people think can switch into anything. Double Edge + BP or +2 Double Edge + +2 BP kills lots of stuff. Most things figure they can take a hit even if you are knock-off or superpower, the latter of which is scary, but weakens your sweep each time you use it. Obviously requires non-passive steels removed.

+2 244+ Atk Scizor-Mega Double-Edge vs. 248 HP / 240+ Def Zapdos: 257-303 (67.1 - 79.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery Kill with KP after SR
+2 244+ Atk Scizor-Mega Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Toxapex: 220-259 (72.3 - 85.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery

244+ Atk Technician Scizor-Mega Bullet Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Volcarona: 84-100 (27 - 32.1%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

+2 244+ Atk Scizor-Mega Double-Edge vs. 248 HP / 16 Def Tapu Fini: 277-327 (80.7 - 95.3%) -- 50% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

+2 244+ Atk Scizor-Mega Double-Edge vs. 244 HP / 0 Def Gliscor: 262-309 (74.4 - 87.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Poison Heal Kill with BP before they can roost.

+2 244+ Atk Scizor-Mega Double-Edge vs. 248 HP / 36+ Def Pelipper: 278-328 (86 - 101.5%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO

Defensive Toxic

1568333045744.gif

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 16 Def / 244 SpD
Impish Nature
-Roost
-Bullet Punch
-U-Turn
-Toxic

Mega Scizor has two key issues in the current meta. First, it struggles with Magnezone, especially due to its inability to use a Shed Shell. Second, it has many viable checks and counters that it can often be helpless against. Even when it runs offensive sets to lure some of them, it still cannot take them all with one set and becomes unable to beat the likes of Tapu Bulu and Kartana.

The latter dilemma is addressed by using Toxic. Pokémon such as Rotom-Wash, Zapdos, Tornadus-Therian, Gastrodon, and Volcarona can be baited and poisoned when they would normally expect U-Turn or Bullet Punch as options.

This works best on balance teams which need a catch-all check to physical attackers and a way of putting the aforementioned threats in a timer with Toxic. It works well with the balance staple Gliscor, which handles Heatran and Toxapex.
