Week 2's pokemon will be Landorus! Landorus is credited to be able to everything - it certainly has the movepool and stats to support just about any set. The deadline to submit the sets will be Friday, March and the voting will end on the 1st of April!

Here are the banned sets of the week

just a reminder that the next best thing™ can be as little as running one move differently (ie. Earth Power > HP Ice) or a different item (eg. Helmet > Rockium)
Happy Posting!

Reserving defensive Imprison

Landorus-Therian @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate

Jolly Nature

- Stealth Rock
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Tired of the ever-cancerous Lando Mirror Match? Don't want to get HP Ice'd to death? Have something 4* weak to rocks on your side of the field? Then Imprison is the move for you! Once you click that, your opponent's lando is completely shut down, having its only usable move be U-turn, which gives you some delicious helmet damage as you and only you get rocks up. And your opponent can't even U-turn into their Tapu Koko because they can't HP Ice you. 148 speed EVs creep heatran by 2 points, as well as any lando that runs the slightly more common 144 speed to also outrun heatran.

I'm back.
I just copy pasted and slightly edited my post from the V2 thread, resubmission I guess lol

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Earth Power
- Sludge Wave
- Hidden Power [Ice]

This shit's the fucking goat. Think it's a bad meme set that's absolute trash? Think again, with CM, defensive Lando is able to essentially beat a ton of mons that would usually check it, such as opposing Lando, Tapu Bulu, Zapdos, Clefable, M-Sciz, Glis, and M-Venu. Earth Power also lets you OHKO Kart, and prevents Tapu Koko from revenge killing you, and since the spread is still defensive, it's able to switch into the same mons and beat them like a normal defensive Lando would. One of the drawbacks is not having a proper slot to fit Stealth Rocks, but that's not the biggest deal considering this set surprises and takes advantage of a lot of normal defensive Lando switch-ins and overpowers them (w/ Steela as an exception, Zone support might be a good choice), thus lessening the opportunity cost. An offensive spread can be used too, but set-up opportunities become much scarcer. Here's a few calcs to show its defensive/offensive prowess.

0 SpA Zapdos Hidden Power Ice vs. +1 248 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-Therian: 172-204 (45.1 - 53.5%) -- 1.2% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery (so you already know Heat Wave is gonna bounce off and defog Zapdos dosen't even run HP Ice)

0- SpA Landorus-Therian Hidden Power Ice vs. +1 248 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-Therian: 132-156 (34.6 - 40.9%) -- 54.1% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Choice Specs Tapu Koko Hidden Power Ice vs. +1 248 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-Therian: 256-304 (67.1 - 79.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

+1 0 SpA Landorus-Therian Hidden Power Ice vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Zapdos: 148-176 (38.6 - 45.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery (predict with Earth Power for HP Ice Zapdos, otherwise use as complete set-up fodder)

+1 0 SpA Landorus-Therian Sludge Wave vs. 248 HP / 56 SpD Assault Vest Tapu Bulu: 280-332 (81.6 - 96.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery

+1 0 SpA Landorus-Therian Earth Power vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Scizor-Mega: 151-178 (44 - 51.8%) -- 13.3% chance to 2HKO

+1 0 SpA Landorus-Therian Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-Therian: 324-384 (84.8 - 100.5%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery

+1 0 SpA Landorus-Therian Hidden Power Ice vs. 244 HP / 152 SpD Gliscor: 288-340 (81.8 - 96.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Poison Heal

Bulk Up Landorus-T

Landorus-Therian @ Lum Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Knock Off/Superpower
- Bulk Up

With the nice amount of switch-ins Landorus-T provides, you have plenty opportunities to set up once or even twice a match.
This way you can win stalemates towards i.e. other Landorus-T and, with the aid of Lum Berry to avoid status moves, the damage output goes out of control really quickly.
You are now able to beat your opponent by through force alone; Edgequake is for coverage, whereas Knock Off or Superpower are both good options to deal properly with a wider range of threats. I'd like Knock Off due to its utility beyond its power, but this move took a huge hit due to the presence of both Z-crystal and Megastones all around.

Defensively speaking, this Landorus-T can work nicely thanks to the +1 Def boost that gives it a physical bulk similar (albeit a little lower) than its defensive counterpart (252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe, Impish Nature).

Some offensive calcs:
+1 252 Atk Landorus-Therian Superpower vs. 252 HP / 48 Def Ferrothorn: 324-382 (92 - 108.5%) -- 50% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252 Atk Landorus-Therian Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 234-276 (59.3 - 70%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

+1 252 Atk Landorus-Therian Earthquake vs. 244 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 352-415 (50.1 - 59.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (you can PP stall Recover)

+1 252+ Atk Landorus-Therian Earthquake vs. 244 HP / 252+ Def Chansey: 577-679 (82.1 - 96.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252 Atk Landorus-Therian Earthquake vs. 244 HP / 252+ Def Chansey: 526-619 (74.9 - 88.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

+1 252 Atk Landorus-Therian Superpower vs. 244 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 564-664 (80.3 - 94.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252+ Atk Landorus-Therian Superpower vs. 244 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 618-728 (88 - 103.7%) -- 25% chance to OHKO

+1 252 Atk Landorus-Therian Superpower vs. 244 HP / 252+ Def Chansey: 840-990 (119.6 - 141%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Without Eviolite, a +1 Superpower from a Jolly Landorus-T is more than enough to OHKO Chansey. Keep in Mind that Bulk Up allows you use this move twice in a row (if needed) before switching out.

It might help to include the EQ calc for non-eviolite chansey since you're running knock off, and possibly the superpower calc.

- U-turn
- Hidden Power [Ice] / Rock Slide / Explosion
- Defog

The first set was made / used by Eo in wcop, rather than explain it myself I'll just copy paste what he said:
"I needed a Pinsir counter that also checked Zygarde, and this was the best solution I could come up with. The idea is that only a defensive Landorus can survive Pinsir's Mega + Return + Quick Attack, but only a Scarf Landorus can beat Mega + Swords Dance, so why not combine both? As it happened, nobody brought Pinsir or Zygarde versus me, but this set ended up pulling its weight anyway in both the games I used it."
"64 Spe outruns Gengar, and 64 Atk is optional to secure the 100% OHKO on Pinsir with Rock Slide. The EVs could probably be tweaked further, but there's not much point to excessive Speed investment. The set isn't meant to play like a traditional scarfer, but more like a defensive Landorus that can outrun and surprise certain Pokemon. For this reason, I used it on a stall team that didn't require a scarfer and on a team in conjunction with another scarfer (Dugtrio). There are several things that work in favor of its surprise factor: Defensive Landorus frequently doesn't carry Leftovers, and on the off-chance that it gets hit with both a contact move and an Ice move (and lives), there are still several other viable option that would probably come to mind over Scarf; Landorus is also played like a pivot due to Intimidate, so coming in on a physical threat that should outspeed and KO isn't necessarily a giveaway of its Scarf; and in a similar vein, it can afford to choice lock itself more so than other defensive Pokemon.

I wanted to fit U-turn on there somewhere, but I couldn't; that being said, it's a natural choice for a choiced Pokemon. Sludge Wave would also work to lure Bulu if played correctly."

The second set was conjured by esteemed user and our previous host LL. Again, I'll just copy paste what he said about the set, not much point me doing it (shhh i'm not lazy).
"This set hits 293 Speed, which ensures that Lando outspeeds Mega Alakazam at +1, and the rest of the EVs are just dumped into physical bulk. You can pump more EVs into defense compared to HP if you're paranoid about stuff like Pinsir and Zygarde, but I prefer the increased consistency overall. The third slot on this set is incredibly team dependent and shouldn't just be based on personal preference for the most part. Rock Slide is mainly used for Mega Pinsir, HP Ice for Zygarde, and Explosion as just a blanket move on more offensive teams to ensure that you don't lose momentum and still have ways of dealing with stuff like Pinsir."

i know this is a copy paste from the other thread, but this is one of the sets that should be better known for landorus, so i wanted to submit it as early as possible.

Mixed Attacker (Knock Off Lando-I)

Knock Off Lando-I (Landorus-Therian) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 28 Atk / 228 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Sludge Wave
- Stone Edge / Superpower

This set functions mainly as a balance breaker thanks to Lando's great mixed stats and good movepool. Its basically a poor man's version of Lando-I due to its lower speed and lack of Sheer Force, but it still delivers OHKOs/2HKOs on a lot of the tier after rocks. The given spread maximizes speed and has enough special attack investment to OHKO standard AV Tapu Bulu with Sludge Wave. The rest of the EVs are dumped into attack to give a little extra power to Lando's Earthquakes. The last slot can be adjusted to meet the team's needs. My preference is Stone Edge because it lets you OHKO 248 HP Zapdos after rocks. Superpower helps to break Kartana, Ferrothorn, and Chansey, so it is also a valid option. Expert Belt can be used to preserve the mystery a little longer, but the drop in power is very noticeable. Magnezone support is pretty much mandatory otherwise Celesteela and Mega Scizor can come in relatively safely and wall Lando to hell and back. Still, this is a neat set that can surprise your opponents.

228 SpA Life Orb Landorus-Therian Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-Therian: 348-411 (91 - 107.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

28 Atk Life Orb Landorus-Therian Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-Black: 199-234 (50.8 - 59.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

(You can also run Earth Power for a surprise 2HKO on Mega Scizor while still getting a OHKO on Kartana)
228 SpA Life Orb Landorus-Therian Earth Power vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Scizor-Mega: 161-191 (46.9 - 55.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

This set is by no means anything new, but is actually pretty decent atm. A lot of teams counterplay to this set is defensive Lando, which if very easy to wear down. Other ground checks such as Bulu and Clefable are smashed to pieces by this set, allowing it to continue sweeping.

+2 252 Atk Landorus-Therian Continental Crush (180 BP) vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Tapu Bulu: 377-444 (109.9 - 129.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Grassy Terrain recovery
60+ Atk Tapu Bulu Horn Leech vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Landorus-Therian in Grassy Terrain: 192-226 (60.1 - 70.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252 Atk Landorus-Therian Continental Crush (180 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 373-439 (94.6 - 111.4%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Clefable Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-Therian: 118-141 (36.9 - 44.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
If you can clear rocks away, you can get both boosts in Zapdos’ face. If it’s a defog variant, than you can get both boosts as it switches in much more easily than the 3 attacks variant.
0 SpA Zapdos Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-Therian: 252-300 (78.9 - 94%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
:

Setting up also isn’t nearly as hard as you would think with AV Magearna, Heatran, and Choice Locked Tapu Koko.

Thanks to its stellar movepool, great attack, and amazing boosting movepool, Landorus can easily utilize many sets. But this set is unlike any other, as it is a trapping set. Equipped with Block, Swords Dance, and Stone Edge, Landorus can effectively straight up remove or heavily weaken to the point of no return counters to its regular sets like Zapdos, Tapu Bulu, and Celesteela, as well as trap pivots like Magearna who go into it predicting Hidden Power Ice. Usually, when set-up Landorus is revealed, other teams just try to offensively pressure it. But with Block, swapping is impossible, leading to some great traps with effective predictions. The set is really self-explanatory as well. Block traps most hard-counters there are to Landorus, and Swords Dance can help boost its attacks to great levels, with Stone Edge following, leaving a potential sweep for a teammate like Kartana and Ash-Ninja

On to set details. Adamant Nature provides maximum attack which is crucial to ensuring OHKOs and 2HKOs on Stone Edge. 96 Spe outspeeds defensive Zapdos. Finally 160 Hp just improves overall bulk and helps Landorus take hits better on both sides. Finally Yache Berry lets you remove all Zapdos, and trap opposing Landorus if they do not have U-Turn. Essentially the set works like this: Block on a predicted switch, Swords Dance, then K.O. You can trap certain threats regardless of whether you predict them or not. This set works best when you bluff it to be a Choice Scarf set since defensive mons aren't afraid to switch-in into an Earthquake. This set is pretty cool when I was testing it out, and I hope you find it so as well.

just out of curiosity™ is that supposed to be a vote or an incredibly misworded entry? If it's the former, you're a few hours late to the garchomp voting stage and we're in the submission phase of landorus. sorry. you can delete your post if it's the former. thanks!

It's pretty good
Substitute is for predicting a will o wisp or switch, knock off removes items which can be very useful with tanks, toxic is to stall and earthquake is just good to have.

Well this should be a hard one since I feel a lot of the "heat" lando options have already been explored whether it be through low ladder memers or tournament experimentation, but I'll give a shot at it anyway:

So I like to call this "the ultimate greninja lure." Plain and simple, its ev'd to live pre-ash hydro pump even after rocks, also a lure to z move protean grens since they use z hydro and you eat that if rocks aren't up. Adamant nature simply to have maximum chance to ohko gren from full, or guarantee the ohko with rocks up.

Offensive Lando-T is a versatile Pokemon; this set is a relic that I used way back in ORAS that was nice for its ability to take on Manectric consistently without needing to be Scarf, but I've adapted it a bit to suit the SM meta a little better.
  • Able to take on Tapu Koko consistently irrespective of its set and can use HP Ice to either attack (busting its Shuca) or to set up SR/RP:
    • vs Shuca: 252 SpA Tapu Koko Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Yache Berry Landorus-Therian: 126-150 (39.4 - 47%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
    • vs Specs: 252 SpA Choice Specs Tapu Koko Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Yache Berry Landorus-Therian: 190-224 (59.5 - 70.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
  • Fucks with Ice Beam Magearna when healthy:
    • 252 SpA Magearna Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Yache Berry Landorus-Therian: 236-278 (73.9 - 87.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
    • 8 SpA Magearna Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Yache Berry Landorus-Therian: 196-232 (61.4 - 72.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
  • Helps ease MU vs opposing Lando-T

      • Allows weakened offensive Lando to set up SD on Lando's HP Ice
    • +3 252 Atk Landorus-Therian Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Landorus-Therian: 230-271 (60.2 - 70.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
      • Means healthy SEdge/KOff variants can boost into KOing range safely if they boost as Lando comes in
  • Tanks other random Ice Punches/Ice Beams while healthy to retalliate with EQ:
    • -1 252 Atk Pure Power Medicham-Mega Ice Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Yache Berry Landorus-Therian: 200-236 (62.6 - 73.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
    • 252 Atk Lopunny Ice Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Yache Berry Landorus-Therian: 126-150 (39.4 - 47%) -- guaranteed 3HKO (after 1 PuP)
      • Or if you're that guy who forgot that Ice coverage also needs to hit Gliscor hard: 0- SpA Lopunny Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Yache Berry Landorus-Therian: 86-102 (26.9 - 31.9%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
There's probably more that I missed, but yeah it's a nice general utility option.

well, just going to bring back the set I posted in the other thread

Imprison Suicide Lando-T

Landorus-Therian @ Focus Sash
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Imprison
- Earthquake
- Explosion

It’s the typical suicide lando-t, but with a pseudo taunt in imprison, preventing the opponent from using moves that you have in your moveset (mostly stealth rock). This is really helpful vs stuff like clefable, heatran, ferrothorn, sash excadrill, etc. and especially opposing Landorus. You imprison the opposing lando’s earthquake too, letting you safely pivot into something that slurps up hp ice.

The set gives up swords dance, but I rarely find myself using the SD anyway cause you’d rather just rocks and boom. Imprison makes lando a proper suicide lead that actually prevents most rocks, and I find myself using it on every suicide lando HO. Definitely recommend giving this move a try.

On a side note, it’s hilarious when your lando’s imprison gets imprisoned by opposing lando. All you can do is tip your fedora in recognition lol.
