Intro

Matchup is a commonly cited issue in competitive Pokemon. Matchup will likely continue to be an issue in competitive Pokemon as more and more Pokemon are introduced and the wide number of strong Pokemon can no longer be wholely countered in six slots. Many card games face this same issue of matchup, and they go about tackling it by introducing a sideboard - a smaller deck you can swap cards from inbetween matches in a best of 3, allowing you to have some way to improve your odds against your worst possible matchups.

The form of sideboard I'm looking to test out in 6v6 play will be based around VGC, a "build 6-bring 4" format, also taking inspiration from card games' "blind game 1" to fit within Showdown's current limitations.

To promote thoughtful building, the winner will receive a $50 Amazon gift card.

Rules

• Teams must be built consisting of six Pokemon as your main team, which will be brought to game one, and two benched Pokemon, which will act as your sideboard from which you can swap for games two and three.
  
  
• Matches are best of three and the tour will be single elimination. You must use the same 8 mons and sets for each game in the best of 3. You may bring a new team each week.
  
  
• Sets may not change between battles, you may only swap Pokemon in and out from your sideboard.
  
  
• A cryptobin containing your 8-mon team must be sent to GMars before playing your opponent for the week. This is to ensure that sideboards are built and followed before the matches start and to ensure that sets don't change when swapping mons. Cryptobin is being used to avoid any concerns of teams being revealed before battles, given that this is a money tour, though you may use a pokepaste or pastebin link if you aren't concerned. PM the password to your bin after your battle's over.
  
  
• Dex clause extends to all 8 mons - you may not have both TankChomp in your mainboard and Mega Garchomp in your sideboard.
  
  
• Replays are required.
