Superpower + Icy Wind sounds okay but from my experience Pursuit is much more valuable. Honchkrow is a very high risk pokemon to begin with and it can be really hard to get it rolling, but once you get the Sucker Punch / Pursuit predictions right it is an ernormous threatening late game cleaner. By the time that you will actually try to sweep with Honchkrow, you probably know the set of Lando-T (so you know you can click BB if it's defensive) or it is weakened enough to the point were it can't take a +1 Sucker Punch anymore. Icy Wind seems unnecessary if BB + Sucker already beats offensive sets and BB + BB does a lot to Defensive Lando-T. Sure it helps against Garchomp but that isn't the most difficult thing in the world to overwhelm. Just my quick thoughts on Icy Wind, will maybe make a bigger post about Honchkrow in general later.

Week 17:

Thanks to good offensive stats, decent coverage moves and nice bulk, Mega Abomasnow is able to turn into a very threatening wallbreaker against balanced teams. It is able to break through cores like Rotom-W + Heatran + Lando-T easily because its STAB combination and Earthquake coverage allows it to hit every one of those mons for super effective damage, while also being able to 2HKO through bulky pokemon like Skarmory and Mega Sableye with the help of a Blizzard coming from a 132 SpA stat. Unfortunately, Mega Abomasnow fails to abuse its good bulk because of its low speed and many weaknesses, including a weakness to Stealth Rocks. It is also heavily prediction reliant to wallbreak properly, as many offensive checks resist at least one offensive move from Abomasnow.
On what teams does Abomasnow fit well? What are good sets and cores including Abomasnow? How can it distinguish itself from other Ice- and Grass-Type wallbreakers? Discuss!

Activity has declined the past few weeks and the most interesting underdogs have already been discussed, so I will end this project after this week. There are still many pokemon that are worth discussing, so if anyone wants to take over this thread you can PM a forum mod and ask permission for it.

my cancer is sun and my leo is moon
so i have a set for everyone to look at.

Abomasnow-Mega @ Abomasite
Ability: Soundproof
EVs: 192 HP / 124 Atk / 136 SpA / 56 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Substitute
- Blizzard
- Wood Hammer
- Earthquake

From what ive seen the most effective set to use by far is sub + 3 atks because you never get the chance to set up and the mon is so prediction reliant without sub. Its good stab combo means youre hitting a lot of mons supereffectively, so paralyzed teams are threatened greatly by it. Set up sub on predicted switches or some ultra passive mons like utility celebi and wreak havoc. Blizzard and wood hammer are stab, eq is coverage to hit steels. It doesnt have room for ice shard unfortunately since its 4mss: the mega, and 252 adamant ice shard doesnt even reliably 2hko lando-t without rocks up, but m abomasnow can still work on fun teams with the right support. The spread is a little complicated so ill explain. The attack is enough to 2hko clef with wood hammer, outspeed paralyzed mega zam and every other mon slower than it paralyzed, ohko torn-t with blizzard after rocks, and the rest is dumped in HP to maximize bulk and make it so you can take more recoil dmg. You can also use a spread of 36 HP / 124 Atk / 192 Def / 100 SpA / 56 Spe if you want to set up sub on psyshock slowbro but you can no longer ohko torn-t after rocks with blizzard. Twave support and hazard removal are not optional if you choose to run this set. Wish passing is also greatly appreciated because sub + wood hammer recoil wears you down very quickly. Watch out for priority from paralyzed mons obviously, but sub helps with that.

Thanks for hosting Sketchup.

M-Aboma fits on teams that don't care about hazards so think partners like Clefable and Torn-T. I like using a mix set mostly with Wood Hammer, Blizzard, EQ, Ice Shard. I feel like Ice Shard is really important for M-Abomasnows success. Some speed control in the form of paralysis helps mitigate its matchup against stuff like Heatran which is one of the bigger threats to M-Abomasnow.
