OUPL has rolled around again, and with it comes OUFL! Let's get to farming. There are a few topics we'd like to discuss with the community.

Tiers
Last year, OUFL followed the format below.
SV OU x4
SS OU x2
SM OU x2
ORAS OU x1
Bo3 OU [SM / SS / SV] x1

As of right now, we are considering adding some tiers and potentially making this tournament 12 slots if we do end up adding tiers. The tiers up for consideration, in my opinion, would be BW OU or National Dex OU. Do you have any tiers that you would like to see added? If so, should we move to a 12-slot tour or stay at 10 slots?

Keep in mind that last year, we had 140k credits to fill a minimum of 14 slots. If we move to 12 slots, the credit allocation will likely be changed as well.

Third Managers
The advent of a third comanager has led to a rapid shift on Smogon, and we will be following it - please sign up with 3 managers once signups are out.

This thread will stay open until manager signups go out, which will be the 23rd of October. Once the thread is locked, we will post a conclusion on what we have chosen to go through with.

Format should not be expanded, 12 slots with a bo3 is too much prep for a farm league. Additionally, ndfl is currently ongoing + any nd slot would probably just end up being the worse nd mainers who are in ndpl but cant make oupl while adding bw alone adds 2 extra slots or takes away the bo3 slot, its also not a fairygen or in oupl. IMO oufl should also be preparing people to work towards oupl next year and adding formats that aren't in oupl works against that.

Only change i would suggest making is shifting bo3 from smogtour to masters to give oras a little more representation because its community is pretty large, but idrc which one the bo3 slot is.
 
Said this last year or last time but add second ORAS OU, other stuff I don't care about or have strong opinions on. 1 slot felt like a meme last time cause you had SPL level subs/starters in KingofKing, Destro, farming everyone else simply because they weren't part of some rando jerk to be a noticeable pick for OUPL over rando mainer or tour clicker.

Was typing but agree with Veti for adding Masters format as a pick if you're gonna add slots out of anything.

I have never managed a 12 man tour at the same time, so can't really say if I like it or not, but people really liked the format of last year, if anything, the only thing needing change is maybe add an extra ORAS slot, because the people believed the pool was a bit too heavy. the bo3 is stour, i don't think i would support a masters bo3 since you have Masters farm league for that one
 
2 bo3 slots might be a little much but dropping 1 sv ou slot for a masters bo3 would be cool. This way every major fairy gen ou tour gets some form of representation in the lineup. Agreed with veti on the natdex/bw point & keeping it 10 slots is fine, otherwise prep/involvement/activity requirements start inflating. Since this tour is meant to prepare budding prospects/newer players for team tour environments, I don't think bumping up the player minimum to 14 while keeping it at 10 slots is a bad thing, nor is forcing everyone to start once like a lot of side tours do. This adds more players into the pool to learn/prepare for higher level tours without adding the extra preparation that extra slots does.
 
Three topics to talk about, not only for OUFL but I hope are considerated for next OUPL too:

1) Add a second ORAS Slot: As my fellow mates already stated, ORAS Community is large and a lot of good players will, probably, not be drafted for OUPL, just to come here and literally destroy the pool. My take it's to drop one SV slot and give it for ORAS and stay in 10 slots. As the bo3 stays in smogtour format SV won't be affected at all.

2) NatDex OU? - Personally, I hate SV ND OU current metagame, it's not attractive to play in any way as SS ND used to be when it was current. I believe ND Staff should ban some mons, make a tiering survey or smth to fix their tier. IMO Zamazenta should be out, I find it very restrictive when building & megas being dropped in order to use the dog should be a clear symptom. So just for now, I would be 100% disagree on adding it. However, in the future, as NatDex player base is quite massive, or at least that's my perspective, it can be discussed if we can give it 1 slot too. In that case, making the tour 12 slots, 12th slot can be either one SV more or BW too.

3)For FL make it 12 slots, Farms League is for people to show up how good they are and demostrate their value as why should they be picked in higher tours. In order to help them doing that, 12-slots it's a must be for farmers. I disagree with the idea of "12 slots it's too much to prep", it's too much if there are other tours you are in aside from this one (and if you are gonna be too busy to play a tour, dude, just don't sign up lol), plus each player should challenge itself to be independant or search their own help. Don't get me wrong, managers should still guide him or provide scout & manager stuff but it's not gonna be as demanding as a PL nor any other team tour, the load should be more on the player-side than manager-side as it's in the best interest for the player to perform.

Im fan of either second ORAS OU or ND. I wouldnt personally like BW and older gens to be added in a side tour like this, oras tho is my favourite tier and for consistency reasons im v down for double oras. ND im also fan cuz i love tournaments that sorta include both ND and reg OU communities as i believe there are alot of talented ND players.
