Pros:

In addition to Sony's policy of no DRM, no online requirements, no restrictions, and no authentication, the PlayStation 4 is also region-free and its HDD is removable and upgradable, which IGN thinks would give PS4 advantages over Xbox One, which is region-locked and has inaccessible HDD.

The system will feature downloadable content similar to what is available on other PlayStation platforms.

PlayStation 4 Supports Used Games.

The PS4 does not require an Internet connection to function.

The PS4 also features technology that attempts to determine trends, including titles a gamer is likely to express interest in next, and then automatically download a small percentage of those games in the background, even in sleep mode, in order to save time.

Games on the PlayStation 4 will not be region-locked.

Cons:
The PlayStation 4 will not initially include the ability to support previous PlayStation console games.

The PlayStation 4 looks like the Xbox One in italic. :/

No backwards compatibility is disappointing though, I skipped the PS3 completely and was waiting for the PS4 to buy any of those games. Guess I'll just buy a PS3 now.

Also I hope that "download games you might or might not buy while it's in sleep mode" thing is disablable, or at least that you can turn the PS4 off. I guess unplugging it always works, though.

You forgot to add that PSN will not have a free version anymore, in the CONS section.

paying for online isn't much of a con for me, i already have it, and besides you get loads of free monthly games see: xcom: enemy unknown and uncharted 3 soon

Not to hold a double-standard hopefully, but that sounds like things 3rd parties were already able to do on the PS3. I'm not sure how much Sony could do to stop that.

Free PSN was really nice but PS+ has enough benefits that I don't mind paying.

It looks like DRM is still a thing, even for the PS4. So it is still up to the publishers to do online pass or whatever.
Theres no first party DRM, thats enough for me.

Since they confirmed cross game chatting I assume this console has a party chat system, Destiny and all my friends switching over to PS4 is going to make this fucking awesome. Don't think I'll be picking up one at launch (MGSV, KH3, Destiny are on the top of my list) so hopefully they have some nice bundles!

am i the only one who's really confused by the visual aesthetics of both the xboxone and the ps4? i can't tell if them being so clunky and angular is supposed to be ironic

I told myself I was going to skip on the next-gen consoles for at least a year or two, but the PS4 is starting to sound more and more attractive. Games like inFamous: Second Son, Metal Gear Solid V, Mirror's Edge 2, and, especially, Elder Scrolls Online, are making me reconsider more and more.
