Pokémon GO

I'm collecting my 7th day reward (is it called Breakthrough?) tomorrow so I have a difficult choice to make. Mamoswine is one of my favourite Pokemon, but my best one right now is 15/13/14. I actually have a perfect Roselia for Roserade, but ughhhh. I might hold out on Togekiss but my best one is already 15/14/15 now.

Also I really, really want a Slaking. I haven't found a 82.2%+ Slakoth or Vigoroth yet.
 
Yeah I'm just hoping it'll be soon. Then again it probably won't be within the next week so I can go ahead with Togekiss/Roserade.

Are Honchkrow/Porygon-Z/Dusknoir any good? Gen 4 evolutions are honestly so dope.
 
Why do I keep forgetting our Mammoth doesn't require any item to evolve (only Ancient Power?)?

Dusknoir... not so much, You'd be better off with Drifblim to wall Machamp in gyms.
Honchkrow has better DPS than T'tar in Dark with certain given moves, but of course much frailer.
Porygon-Z is your generalist if it is partly cloudy. I don't there's any other uses, and I'd rather spam Kyogres or use actual specialists all day.

Are they out already? Just tried evolving my Murkrow and Togetic but it doesn't give me the option yet.
 
You need a Sinnoh Stone to evolve them. So far, it is only available as a prize for completing a Field Research Breakthrough.

Now guess who cashed out his Breakthrough three hours before this update went live, and therefore has to wait a week for a Sinnoh Evolution...

Togekiss is great Machamp wall, while Manmo is best Ice, and Ryperior has insane CP that makes it easy to scare noobs in gyms. I'm split between them, two are used for long game of defending and Ice type isn't as needed as now, and not for long unless we get Ray raids back....

Maybe if Vappy raid is back, I'd want to raise a +90% Roserade too. I like Mismagius and Froslass too, but they're not very useful so they need to wait for months.

Magmortsr and Electrivire are also in long waiting list. The former can't compete with Moltres and Blast Burners, the latter is just discounted Raikou and people would already own many Raikou or Exclusive Zapdos.

Roserade is the best Poison and also the best Grass type attacker.

Electivire surpasses all current Electric types in DPS, Zapdos and Magnezone will have more bulk and a defensive secondary typing (but more weaknesses) for higher TDO, but in raids DPS is all that matters, ala Shadow Claw/Ball Gengar > Confusion/Shadow Ball Mewtwo VS Raid Mewtwo.

The top defenders won't suddenly become bad. The rebalance just means that they won't be a class above everything else. With a remote Golden Razz feeder, Blissey was just a God. Even if it has lost a lot of bulk, it's still the bulkiest thing around.

And, fun fact, Shuckle's bulk will increase by 90%. Depending on Stamina IVs, it can be tankier than defenders with a double weakness! So it'll be a good option for long-term defending.

The link breaks down defender increases and decreases in bulk, which also adds or subtracts from their Total Damage Output (damage before fainting- Attack stats stay the same but survivability means more / less fast and charge moves). Gengar is now even better! Lick Gengar was timed for a reason, they wanted the recent Lick variant to benefit!

Shuckle’s survivability went up by 113% actually, so it can take full advantage of neutrality to fighting, ground, grass, flying, fire, and while not an elite defender, does offer good defense that it previously couldn’t.

Melmetal has good stats but a bad movepool.

Turns out I need another 22 candy to evolve my 15/14/15 Togepi, so I guess I'll go ahead with my perfect Roserade now, not that it's particularly useful in any raids or anything right now.
 
5 days until my first Sinnoh Stone. Bother. But give things a year, and I'll probably have more than I want to use, so I don't hate the throttling of our initial access to new evolutions. But it does leave questions on what to evolve first: personally meaningful pokemon, meta relevant ones, or 100s? Do I want to spend my first stone on a level 29 Rhydon (Selva!!) caught at the Palio in Siena this summer, even though it's only a 78%? Or a 98% level 35? And what about my level 8, 100% Roselia? Choices, choices. But it ensures an extra weekly moment of excitement for the next few months at least!

That's all good until your first team in raid are wiped out and you waste seconds in the lobby. That's why people relied on anchors. If the differences isn't so far, I'd rather rely on Raikou for a while. There's no viable target for this anyway, unless Vappy (my current team's enough, I haven't even tested new Zapdos for this) or Kyogre (it already did) come back in raids. This is also why I don't outright raise Gengars as I'd run myself out easily in front of raid bosses. Heck, I didn't use any Gengar against Raid Mewtwo since it's 3HKOed just by Confusion to be useful. Immediate shifting to healthy mon on Raid boss' special attack is still better in getting ahead on the damage race (I'm decently good at this).

Also, with Raikou still having great capability to offer, I see no reason to immediately get Electrivire before other things like Togekiss or Ryperior (although granted, possible future Exclusive moves for them could hold them back, but at least my first stone will land on a Togekiss for anti-Machamp).

At least I'll take back my word on "discounted", but it still offers not so much. Two is enough and it's not immediate need (Flying legendaries and Kyogre have already reappeared, Sinnoh has no viable Legendary prey for Elec, and by the time Gen5 comes, we get Zekrom).

I'm not going to rely on anchor, but there are times when it's better to have a team that'll survive the whole raid while constantly deal damages. With the raid people's availability and quality fluctuating in each raids, I'd prefer stable team. I do have Gengar now (Giratina's attack is pathetic, mine can launch at least 2 SBalls before KO or switching out), but not a whole cohort of them.

This was in regards to Focus Blast Mewtwo Raids, where Gengar is top tier, even though Mewtwo has STAB Psycho Cutter as a Super Effective Fast move.

Bear in mind, M2 resists Focus Blast and Psycho Cutter but DPS wise Gengar could 2-man EX-Raid Mewtwo, at level 40 under weather, while M2 couldn’t 2-man itself.

When it became Level 6 Tier, it requires 3-4, but point is Gengar has always been mentioned because it is a DPS Leader and is still used to this day for that reason.

In either case, Electivire makes for a good lead before the Raid Boss has earned enough charged moves, making investment into at least 1 good.

Considering there's chance for exclusive moves, I'd say hold that 98%, at least. Yeah, I hate to say, Fear of (future) Exclusive Move plagues it.

Thankfully I have handy mon like Togekiss-will-be who won't lose so much when that happens; their movepool is decent enough for defending.


Also, yes, C/FB Mewtwo is 1/6 (or 1/8?) of raid Mewtwo. At that time I thought Gengar investment isn't so hot (half the time against M2, they're 4HKO at best). And which Gengar is this again? Since SClaw one is rare, and sucks to be those who have Hex ones only to be outclassed by Lick 'gar.

BTW, how will Togekiss compare to Drifblim? I forgot to see how well both are doing in defense, in Machamp situation and general defending so I can decide better. I have A rank Drifloon and a shiny B rank (not the very best, but still...) so I want to see if I can rely on Drifblim instead for now. Drifblim does enjoy Ghost type, weak to Ghost itself but no one's likely to use Gengar against Blissey before it, and is less weak to recent Metagross.

It has been reported that Meltan can be placed as a defender in Pokemon Go gyms. People presume that Melmetal will also be allowed in gym. It's the only Mythical Pokémon with this property, so far.
 
Ah, the dreaded "Catch a Ditto" task is back in part 3 of the Meltan Research Task. Hopefully I can power through that today. Unfortunately I have to turn off Adventure Sync until I catch 10 Pokemon since I'm dangerously close to hatching eggs which is in part 2.
 
So far, it's not so bad maybe. Although, I thought we were promised Eevee, but only Pikachu seen spawning a lot so far.

At least they have kind mercy of holding the Vee raids after Eevee day so my art plan isn't ruined. But I have bad feeling... feels like this is the time they pull another Exclusive Move on them. Especially with PLG Startervee having those broken exclusive moves to their types. While they could make Bouncy Bubble, that would instantly invalidates my Vappies I had grown since 2016... (nah, even Exclusive Waterfall would break my heart... can't they stop relying on FoEM and let us just TM them?)
... ahem, sorry, but yeah, FoEM is taking my mind hostage. This Sinnoh Stone is one dangerous example already, that I decided to not get Rhyperior yet and just get one Togekiss and Roserade and hoard the rest of stones until more announcement comes. This is so dangerous, I think only Gengar and past CD mon are safe investment....

On the plus side, I got a likely S Rank Eevee (452 from 455 CP max IIRC) ready to be caught in my research stack for Nov 21 Eevee Day. Although, how does research stack work again this time? How much is the limit and what happens after hitting the limit? I'm afraid of her getting deleted if they decide that only the most recent certain number can be stacked and getting another in limit will automatically delete the oldest one....
I'm too lazy on such a thing.... _(:'3」z)_

Forgo the to say... if you can get excellent shot, the research labelled Let's Go asking one excellent shot gives you... Pidgey. At first I thought this is insulting until I heard it is actually Ditto.

So get them ready. Stack it too. Although with reduced appearance of easy targets like Nosepass or Zangoose, this is somewhat more difficult (those pesky Nidoran is hard to land Excellent at. Machop is at least easy).

On the other hand, increased Kanto spawns (*sigh*) will also mean more Ponyta, and they are pretty easy to land Excellent throws at. Same, to a lesser degree, with Slowpoke. Nidoran is brutally difficult, though, because its horn pokes out of the sweet spot.
 
Along with Pikachu and Exeggcute, I noticed an increase in Slugma spawns, of all things... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Got my first Sinnoh Stone today. Evolved my 14-15-14 Togetic into Togekiss, and he ended up with Hidden Power Psychic, which seems worse than Air Slash for the purpose of countering Machamp. Oh well.

Oh, and as far as Excellent Throws go, Tentacool is a good one to try. And in North America, Tauros is still the best.
 
I've personally found round pokemon easier to get greats and excellents on. Maybe its the outline of the pokemon adding to the illusion of a ring target? Thank goodness this didn't get released during Halloween, though. I'm terrible at targeted throws on ghosts.
