See it's stuff like this why I was telling myself it wasn't worth going for the Home's Go Dex 8 months agoSo about that... Post-Event 10ks are in the 3* Rarity alongside Jangmo-o. A bit rarer than the event 10ks at least

Should note if you did those in person that's 3 for the win plus any for the captures. It was one of Niantic's attempts to incentivize in-person raiding when they increased remote prices.Relevant to the discussion the other day about putting candy into Pokemon... reading a discussion on r/SilphRoad earlier about what to use Rare Candy XLs on and people were like "you've got to put them into mythicals, I would never use one on something raidable".
...which makes me want to know, how much XL candy are these people getting from their raids exactly???? I did the Kyogre raid evemt today; only caught 5/8 of the damn things because the game's become laggy as hell since the new catch background was brought in, which increased my Kyogre XL candy by a grand total of... 18. Not what you'd call terribly impressive. What about Rare Candy XL, though? My eight raids gave me... 2 of them.
Possible but at a 100-1 rate I wonder if that'd be faster or not even with stuff like Tanking to farm them off PvPre: XL candy, I'm guessing that its burning through a bunch of *normal* rare candies and then dumping those into the XL transfer
People who go hard on raids are a different breed of weirdos
From how it sounds, the shiny shaymin research is mostly just tedious and mostly based around time gatesIt took over a year, but I finally finished the jirachi masterworks research. The last stretch was tough because I was constantly running low on pokeballs and only able to restock every few days. At one point in an attempt to make bag space I accidentally threw out 200 charge tms. :(
Jirachi got to spend the day as a buddy before getting transferred to HOME so I can take it for a spin in SV later.
Now hopefully the Sinnoh masterworks research is not as terrible...

I am on Step 3 and can confirm Step 3 is the same as Step 2, but with Flying instead of Grass for Task 1 (same Time Gates). No idea on the subsequent steps. From how it sounds, the shiny shaymin research is mostly just tedious and mostly based around time gates
Step 1 is probably the worst, 492 catches for each generation 1-4.
Step 2 in comparison is just some time gates. Catch 20 grass types, catch a Pokemon 7 days in a row, catch a Pokemon on 21 different days
Step 3+ isn't global yet but you can guess how it'll go
Step 3: 10 flying types, 5 days in a row, 15 different days. Those are the same LA numbers for Step 2 so they'll probably go to the same equivalent numbers for global. yes it's literally the same tasks but this time its flying. Just spend 2 months doing the same thing
Step 4: 20 Nice, 20 Great and 20 Excellent throws (all curve balls). Guessing global just doubles these
Step 5: Send 4 gifts w/ stickers, Use 4 berries, earn 4 hearts with your buddy. Yes really. That's it
Step 6: Sinnoh Gold Medal, Reach Level 40, Defeat Team Go Rocket Leaders 3 times. I assume only the Go Rocket Leader task gets increased
Step 7: You're done!
From my perspective it feels like each step was just them going "uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh". Like why even bother with step 5. Step 2 & 3 just being basic big time gates for the sake of making the research last longer?
I can see adjusting the feedback from the nightmares of the previous masterworks but...
Anyway I managed to find a discord with brain worms similar to my own and got the other Charcadet. I am at peace once more, with 833 in the Home Go dex. Hoping whatever the April mon will be, will be less of a pain.
I can't imagine they leave it to just those two so...Go does have time of day based spawns right? Like the few times I pull out go at night I do see stuff like Lunatone or Duskull more often.
So that seems like the easiest thing. Lunala (/Dawn Wings necrozma?) with Moongeist Beam causes night spawns for the next 20 minutes, Solgaleo (/Dusk Mane) with Sunsteel Strike
Honestly a downgrade if they go with that but also they kind of really blew their load on the most obvious and useful ones right out of the gate.
Does that include fake Beach Biomes? People noted that almost anything with Sand counts as a Beach to the point of getting the background on Golf Courses.Don't suppose anyone's gotten a spare Wiglett they'd like to trade me in Home/SV?
I live near no beach biomes and the discord I found who has similar brainworms to me is also in the lurch. No luck on the GTS either.
I am near no beaches, not without quite a drive. Pretty frustratingDoes that include fake Beach Biomes? People noted that almost anything with Sand counts as a Beach to the point of getting the background on Golf Courses.
Still trying to find a Wiglett myself.
Which is nice, if only because Diancie's one of those rarely released ones. Also free Diancie Research incoming if you need to get that Mythical (assuming Go Fest paid ticket was skipped)
You love to see it. Gym will mostly help for the odd low-level Raid unless you look into apps for Remote Inviting, but just having something in stone-throwing distance is a massive convenience (source: Guy who lived on top of 2 Gyms and 5 stops at College vs nothing within 10 minutes of my current house)Speaking of more than I thought, there was a huge update in my neighborhood. I now have 4 pokestops and a gym. This massively changes the things I have reasonable access to; raids are way easier to interact with for when you don't have to walk minimum 3 miles to another neighborhood or idle in a parking lot. I have an easier shot at coins so I can possibly save up for and buy remote raid passes. With all the pokestops I can actually reasonably look for event tasks in case a Pokemon lands in there, or gather more eggs.
Stakataka might come down to moveset. Its high defenses will suck to fight but it does have a double weakness to Primal Groudon plus others that might undermine that bulk to a reasonable level. Curious to see myselfMay's update has dropped - Tapu Fini and Regirock in raids, then Stakataka and Blacephalon concurrently, divided, as I'd expected, into eastern and western hemispheres respectively.
Nice little upside to being a UK player - we can get both! The hemisphere line crosses through Greenwich, so I expect I'll do a few Blacephalon during the rest of the week then trek on over to join an east London raid group. I imagine Stakataka will be hell to take down without a group of at least four or five.
Legendaries usually aren't too hard to come by because even if people aren't catching the mons themselves, they want to do them for the rewards like XL Rare Candy rolls. East/West Hemisphere is more even than the North/South that the Ultra Beasts did, so shouldn't be hard to find. And if not now they'll be back for Go Fest, especially if they get their Shinies there.Hoping that the pair will be somewhat good enough that people want to do a bunch of them so they populate the GTS.
I knew Biome exclusive spawns were going to lead to shenanigans. It's the same discontent as regional spawns, but now with data that can be manipulated, as we can see here.So just saw this on Kotaku. Good jerb there, Niantic.

Someone could probably write a case study thesis on Developer's Plans VS Player's Workarounds using just Pokemon GO alone.
Pokemon requiring XL to max for a League are what make things like UL and late GL hard to get into for me. Licktung I hatched a ton of them as 5km Egg junk, but it's so much dust too to build one that I don't trust to stay meta relevant by the time I build one.Without Silph Road or relying on maps from cheating devices, finding nests for certain pokemon is a word of mouth challenge as I'll need 276 XL candies for Lickitung to have ready for the great league. A shiny 7/15/14 is rank 4 and as a best buddy could max it at cp 1497. Such hard work for a top 10 ranked pokemon that is often a pain to face in the great league.
