Pokémon GO

So I caught a ditto like an hour ago:

http://imgur.com/a/m3aut
  • Disguised as Pidgey
  • Threw a normal ball, no berry, first try catch
  • Interrupted with "Oh?" like I was hatching an egg
  • Transported through some purple wormhole to reveal Ditto
  • Mine was 10 CP, not sure about CP arc
  • Seems to auto-Transform in gyms, with some time lag
  • Appears to copy the Pokemon's stat scaling, not their stat (mine was minimum CP and became Rhydon with 43 CP)
  • Click animation is super cute :)

Can you tell us whether the HP on your ditto stays the same, or if it matches the HP of the mon you are copying (at the level of your ditto)? Need to catch one for myself tmrow :O

I believe it stayed the same. Pretty much instant death in any matchup I tried (Dragonite, Rhydon) because I was so low-leveled.

Well hard to tell if you are low levelled, it will probs be easier to tell if you actually have mon A at level B, ditto at level B, and the defender also has mon A at level B as well. Just compare the damage the two are taking and u can see if ditto retained its original HP stat or is losing health just like your non-copied form. If it does retain its own hp like I suspect it will it should be a balanced addition, if not we may see Ditto becoming the #1 attacker.

From what I can tell it retains the original HP, but it'll probably become clear as more people catch them. Would also make sense as that's how Ditto works in the main series games.

So Rhydon currently has the third highest CP in the game. I'm already seeing it being present in many gyms. Seems like it'll be the new Arcanine - the Pokemon that people deposit in gyms solely for the CP there despite not actually being that good in defence (thank you ominpresent Vaporeon). Maybe this high CP is befitting for the strongest Pokemon of the original final Gym Leader Giovanni and one of the Pokemon of the original Champion Blue.

Jolteo, Pinsir and Alakazam are now actually good. Golem did very well too. Very happy for my perfect IV Pinsir; the IVs may not be for waste anymore.

And when 2nd gen comes out, Blissey having 3219 CP along its massive HP stat is going to be a terror to face.

whats even more scary about rhydon.. is if they dont change the CP before gen 4
my Pinsir has over 2k CP.. but useless moves.
the main defence pokemon for gyms got nerfed... Poliwrath, Hypno.. only Muk seems to have got a boost.

I came to see it and... at least Dosaidon/Rhyperior? can always be sunk by Vaporeon as ever despite getting even higher than freaking Garchomp.

What I worry most is now Slaking. They will have to adjust abilities accordingly as this guy seems to be like MegaRayquaza in main series without the AG banishment; This guy is monster....

Anyway, about the stat adjustment, I'm a little sad as my Clefable and Nidoqueen who have joined me much earlier was nerfed, while I only recently get many Vaporeon and they're buffed. But then again, I see Espeon is raised very highly so... and that I'll enjoy people's suffering as they try to break Blissey I'll have.

well I battled a chansey training a gym... never... again
it only had 856 cp... worse then a snorlax to remove, without the nuke.
the Nerfs in CP haven't REALLY changed anything, 3k Dragonite getting beat by my 1324 cp dewgong, that dragonite scaled to 3027 helped my training a load, as I could use Parasect :D could even use my Blastoise... a load of Golducks..
Ninatic need to get rid of this running junk.. getting fed up of curveball + nice, only for escape and run.. and also these close up pokemon, not registering hits in the circle... even had a light green escape because my curveball didn't register -_-
FIX THIS.. and i dunno what the circle thing is as I have registered a circle hit with less then half the ball hitting.
Leveling up my Jolteon.. gonna sit that in a gym and watch the carnage

also got my Raichu.... and then got Brick Break :(
live near a diglett nest in the park... well you find small brown turds on the ground in parks :P
by nest.. its 2 spawns an hour.. like most of the nests, but it was added as a nest site during the previous event, as was the pikachu nest in prime location in the city.
the Diglett nest WAS slowpoke before... and the Pikachu nest was Squirtle... which was superb during the event.... and now the butchered Blastoise :(
so yea, working hours are a pain in the arse for my plans right now, as its 3 weeks to change nests, and one nest requires a full day :( rest an afternoon.. which I have not got this, or next week >.<
there is a juicy looking Charmander nest that requires a bit of travel... and a Bulbasaur nest which is a couple of hours i can manage, if i go there as it is on the way. just cant' go looking for the 1 per hour mankey on the way to a pinsir nest now. (want a decent moveset decent IV pinsir given the CP it gets to)

I found one Ditto and made it my buddy because a high-level Ditto would be good for some laughs. I also missed an Aerodactyl yesterday because it either despawned thirty seconds after I first sighted it or because the in-app scanner straight up does not work. It's the only Pokémon I still need, and still haven't got it after four months. Got six 10km eggs in my inventory at the moment so perhaps luck will serve me. I also had another dream that Gen 2 was released and I caught a bunch of cute Spinarak.

the last 10k egg I had hatched an Eevee.... that's how long I haven't had one
Niantic you trolls.... Magikarp spawns on the spawn next to my house for the first time ever... and it is just a Magikarp (84% IV)
it usually spawns pidgeys rattatas.. eevees... although an Omanyte did spawn there last night

With new CP adjustment, I wonder... Bubblestrat, how are you today?
I only have one Horsea and my Gastly works with it, but that's it, and it nets a bit below 500. Need to test this tadpole next, 24 CP and awful IV but with 14HP so I'm quite pessimistic about Gastly working on it. Will want to gather Pikachu candies and try evolving my starter to try it later as I heard someone has it working with Krab....

Honestly though, this is my first time trying Bubblestrat and it was quite... funny.
Too bad Miniryuu failed. This gassy ghost is the only thing I can use right now and I don't think to use up my Eevee name code only for this....

... at least you have Eevee spawning in your neighborhood.

yea... too many.. only thing that spawns more is Venonat
would rather just have my ditto so i can get on with catching stuff..
managed to find 2 gyms with open spaces, on top of my 3 normal gyms.. each gym is worth 1000 dust.. so getting 5 with minimal effort is priceless.

Turns out a cheeky lvl 31 instinct player decided to take out the long standing valor gym for me sometime in the last 6 hrs. Its quite interesting because Instinct wasn't notable at all before, but I've noticed it taking over the 3 most accesable gyms in my area in the past week. Still not many players on Instinct I think though, and that one gym is on my turf, so I will definitely fight back for it aggressively to ensure it stays valor and I get my much-needed coins. Currently sitting on ~80 hyper potions, 20 max potions and 80 revives with another level up coming soon, so I have a feeling I wont lose the resource war if they fight back for the gym too much, but the weather will definitely be a factor in how often I can go out there. I'm also really low on balls, its tough to catch everything for exp/stardust and in hopes of a ditto with so few pokestops around.

Ah dangnabbit! Looks like a spoofer went into a rampage after the last banwave and Laplace Tohoku event. Someone here shows a Tauros, which is impossible here. That, or they travel to USA too, but can never tell....

Finally my Nidoqueen's service ended as the spoofer is likely to break her secret spot up there. But maybe I'll go back to that secret inaccessible spot again later to run errands while on that too... or not, until that person is banned which is like, nah .... Nabbit... this Nidoqueen has done most great deeds since I started this journey along with few others that joined my cause very early. Sighs... thou did well, I'll avenge thou and taketh thy rightful spot again one day....

(EDIT: Mostly nah, that person somehow changed their Pokemon in the gym although granted I closed the appli for little long, but this person is very likely a spoofer and it is useless to waste time against it while I'm having more things to do. Oh well, there goes my plan to use saved coins for Lucky Egg for this event; Just lost 2 permanent spot and can't take it back due to spoofer possibility, can't waste time for this scrap. Just hoping someone else caught him red-handed with proof and they'll be banned....
EDIT: again, worse, may be two spoofer fighting each other, unless this second one crosses the river directly instead of taking a bridge and ignores one gym on the way. Bad day... this is the misfortune curse from hatching that evil fox b-....)

Curiously, my Dragonite in my rather quieter hometown was also kicked out. I don't have time for this. Those two were my permanent gym workers....
How do you guys find a Ditto? Is it always disguised as a 10 CP Pidgey or it can be anything and the CP is randomised?
Haven't caught it, but to what I read, it could be anything. Some people has caught it in a Pidgeotto?(the mid-evo) too, so it isn't limited to basic Pokemon. Just imagine the ragequit when this thing disguised itself as a Dragonite....

Americans have been over there for the Lapras event
some no lifers ruining gyms atm.. loads of level 31-34s crawl out of the woodwork.
I actually had a Gym on a building site a while back, had to switch wi-fi off to actually put something in (gps was off whack) only to lose the thing at a time when there were no builders.... and the place has no reason for anyone to walk down there.
might unleash some hell on some yellow team strongholds when I pay a Bulbasaur nest a visit next week (its in a very strong yellow area) as a warning to gtfo off my gyms :P
so other then ditto I managed to finish late from work due to being busy.. (gyms quieter at 10pm.. and STILL someone takes 2 of them...)on the upside though, some of these pokestops are churning out pokemon like crazy, at one there were TWO pysduck and a Tentacruel.
1286 CP tentacrual
Acid and Sludgewave.. not the best Moveset, fast attack isn't the best (poison jab is better) but Sludge wave is actually the move I needed as Hydro pump, while better DPS, isn't the move I want.. it now means it can beat grass and not be resisted by waters, while resisting water itself, while still having better DPS then Blizzard.
plus I now have all 3 movesets.
there are no such things as permanent gyms.. even the gym around here, which is ignored for days on end (despite being in clear view of the other 2... and a further gym near a school) gets taken down 2 or 3 times a day.
getting rather annoying as 9/10 I have to level UP gyms to put stuff in (except that one), and ONE accidental moment of forgetting to swap the auto-selected Pokemon can cripple your gains, that and laggy moves (water pulse. Psychic) and using 1/2 CP stuff is now ruined by the CP changes, I had to level up a gym containing 2 Gyarados (easy enough) and Rhydon... while Gyarados was easy enough as Magnaton and 2 electabuzz fit into the CP range, I had only 1 water (omanyte..) and 2 grass... (victreebell) all weak to ground. thrown in a bit of delay switching and unregistered dodges.. and you get a wipe.
Dragonite is not that good either btw...

It can be anything, and the CP is randomised.

I caught mine as a Zubat. Ended up having 67 CP. My brother caught the same Zubat/Ditto which was of higher CP.

Of note this Zubat was not at a nest. Unsure if this is true for all Dittos.

Do you guys have any tips for getting control over a gym? Resource management, coordinating with other players, etc.?

I reclaimed the gym that Instinct took over last night before I went out for tonight, leaving a lone vaporeon there. When I was back it was instinct again (by the same players I'm pretty sure, I took screenshots so I have to review the names). I noticed all the other gyms in the area (2 others, you'd have to drive & walk OR walk a lot in order to get all those gyms) all became instinct. I took screenshots, but I suspect most of them were the same few players, so it seems like these guys are organized and intent on getting their share of gyms. The thing is, I need one gym for myself, and so far I haven't received any support, but we're only a short time into this war. I need to figure out if this war is possible to win, or if I will need to somehow leverage a sharing of gyms. This is my first time actually fighting for turf, so if anyone has experience, hit me up with some tips.

the solo player needs to take the gym at an obscure time, look when they take it, take it an hour or so after, or get there way early, give people time to put stuff in.

Sadly, there are not much to tell, especially if you are not in the dominating team. Even I who happened to live in dominated team often have problem (lived gym stagnation era, earned confirmation that I should hate my own "teammate" and that's not talking about aforementioned spoofers yet), but yeah... the only way to do it if one is in minority team is to take out few gyms that are close to each other at quiet times like night and pick the daily reward, and repeat each day. Preferably just put catch fodders to transfer them as soon as they're KOed from their gyms if one conserves Revives.

After I lost my secret spots I quit too, can't waste time with this. I'll live quiet times and swap my stardust vials with painting brush while I'm going to clean up some space out of my 600-slot Pokemon Box for the next generation.

Yup, definitely swapping my stardust vials with Wacom pen. I have lurked Silph Road and am convinced that the only way to keep up in this situation is to cheat oneself, and I can never do that when it is Pokemon. Too many reason that this is not worth the time and energy anymore unless one is in the right time and right, nowhere place of a gym....

Oh well, at least yesterday I managed to get 8 coins, my most income in a day, which is quite an achievement, the benefit of living outside the Laplace event places....

I'm experiencing quite an annoying bug (yes, another one). No matter how I move, no distance will be added to my eggs and buddy Pokémon. Is this just a visual bug or am I actually not gaining any kilometers?

is that the screen freeze bug?

and caught another ditto, oh and this event... day 7 capture bonus is insane.
also, is it me or are the terrible charge moves working best at gym defence then they should be... finding it harder to deal with twister Gyarados and water pulse vaporeons, impossible to dodge.. it could also explain how my Pinsir has won a gym defend with rock smash + Vice grip.
