Pokemon vs Chess

Actually I was saying that this isnt the case at all. The point is that chess may be more tactical, but if it is, the reason definitely isnt because there are only errors from the players.
sorry, but i still dont really understand this. give an example?

what he means is that chess is more tactical simply because there are so many possibilities for tactics.

the reason chess is more tactical has nothing to do with the lack of luck.

Really the way I see it no questions asked. Chess is just so much harder. I have been playing chess since the 5th grade that makes it almost 7 years that I've been playing. And I still get slaughtered by some people who are just like amazing. I'm pretty good but then there's people out there who are just simply phenomenal. Now I've been playing Pokemon for a few years. But about 5 months ago I considered blissey and forretress garbage. However now on smogon my wi fi record is at about 3-2 ratio. And where did I get the team? Just looked through couple RMT the OU tier list and of course the strategy pages. Then in about 10 minutes I pokesaved a team which has had some random success. You cannot do that in chess. even if you practice for a long time there's always tricks that you haven't seen before. Pokemon metagame is kinda predictable and a lot of times ends up with the exact same switch ins in a LOT of battles.

My point is that any newcomer to Pokemon basically has everything set out for them. Theres those few good pokes and everything else is a weaker version of something. In chess even after years theres still things that you've seen rarely. In pokemon I think i've seen every ou/bl poke and multiple movsets fro them. In the end pokemon is "set in stone" so to speak. Chess is way more versatile.

dunno how you ever got good at chess playing like that. serrously, you don't win games by "crossing your fingers and hoping for the opponent to not see your move," at least not at high level play when they pretty much see every move.

Stathakis, I'd like you to isolate the one part of my post where I said I play like that, because I'd love to read it.

keeping your fingers crossed and praying that your opponent doesn't spot the one move that will enable you to check his king while threatening the Queen with a different piece, and blocking it with a piece of his or her own.

that's pretty much it. you probably don't play that way, but them making a big mistake like that helps I guess. it just, well, never happens that way in high level play.

Pokemon is certainly more realistic than chess(not that chess pieces are not real and pokemons are real), i am comparing them to real life. in real life, we have luck and skills mixed in most part of our life, like sports, weathers, and live TV shows, we don't have our life completely filled with skills, that would kill all the ppl in the world except energetic smart ppl that doesn't sleep for a whole month and lives, which is imposiible. so my equation is: Pokemon(competitive)>Chess

You can get lucky in Pokemon by getting extreme hax which you basically means you don't need MUCH skill. As for chess, you have to think really hard and there's no lucky hax or anything. It's only you, not your pokemon. Chess needs a ton of skill and good thinking.
