Porygon2 or PorygonZ?

I was wanting to make PZ a mixed sweeper with Life Orb, but after looking at it's entire physical move pool (Return, Double-Edge, Iron Tail, and Aerial Ace), there's not much to really use to scare Blissey away, aside from really going with Nasty Plot and Tri-Attack... Although Return + Adaptive + STAB + Life Orb would really make a dent on it. I like that Conversion idea as well, I wanted to make a move set with it too... Does Conversion take into account what type Hidden Power is?

@Footnote
I would actually replace Shadowball with Dark Pulse. A one in 5 chance of flinching someone with PorygonZ's decent speed could mean a difference between 2HKO with no damage taken or 2HKO with retribution. It still hits Ghosts and Psychics pretty hard as well.

The point of Shadowball is to make Porygon-Z a Ghost with Conversion, so that Megahorn and Close Combat suck and fail, respectively, against it, as opposed to Dark type which gets wtfownd by both of those attacks.

I really like Footnote's set, but I'm not sure how viable it is.

Great points all around. I think you're right about BoltBeam being a bit redundant with Adaptibility. With that in mind, consider this set:

Porygon-Z
Tri Attack
Shadow Ball
Conversion
Recover

A novelty set? Probably. But I like this thing for the ability to potentially mess with Choice Band Heracross. You can reliably switch from the Normal type to the Ghost type (and back), making Close Combat fail and Megahorn do significantly reduced damage. Once you're Ghost-type, you just switch your main attack from Tri Attack to Shadow Ball. Same BP. Has trouble hitting TTar, though. Recover can be replaced with any other Normal-type move without compromising the reliability of Conversion.

Does this set actually work? (It will always switch between Ghost and Normal, without for example picking Normal twice?) Because if so that's a very cool use of Adaptability.

I just tested Conversion with my Fire Red* Porygon (Conversion/Psybeam/Sharpen/Recover)--and Conversion switched flawlessly between Normal and Psychic every single time!

I really can't wait to use this ingenious set of yours, Footnote. It's loads more fun than the BoltBeamer/Nasty Plotter everyone else is latching onto. You're quickly becoming a favorite poster of mine.

*Yes, I played the slots until I got 9999 coins.

I tried Shedinja with mimic vs porygon2 with Conversion in Adv.

It has Shadow Ball/Swords Dance/ Return/Mimic-Conversion

It had a chance of becoming only Ghost (not ghost/bug), as well as normal. So it doesn't affect PorygonZ/2 because it is already a MONO-Normal.

If PorygonZ was Normal+Anything else, then it would have a chance to select Normal.

Since it wont affect it, it doesn't matter, just a head's Up.

Hp does work w/ Conversion btw.
