I hate to be the one to tell you but none of these bands are punk... Most of these groups are from like, the 80s. How can you punk if you were born in the 80s? How old is that now?

punk is like blink-182, Green Day, Fall, Out Boy, Paramore, sum 41, My Chemical Romance, etc.

None of Ur bands are really punk either tbh mate, maybe green Day can call themselves punk, afterall they have a bit of an anti establishment ring to them which is a pretty punk thing, real punk bands are groups like the sex pistols, and individuals like Iggy pop, they say and do whatever the fuck they feel like for the hell of it, that's true punk, although I agree Corey's references arent particularly punk either, Siouxie and the banshees are pretty punk imo and joy Division and the cure can be called "post punk" if you believe in that as a genre, I mean at least robert Smith dresses like a punk.

Also Corey is my freind, but I dont endorse his team or RMT, and had nothing to do with it :)

Thanks for coming to my ted talk

watermess

wow man, nothing in that definition said there has to be anti-establishment also it clearly says 70s and I was saying his bands were in the 80s, ok. so if anything it supports me.

real punk bands are groups like the sex pistols

I do agree with this though...Sid Vicious is godlike...

ps.

and Corn. dont forget Corn

Corn is Nu-Metal, NOT punk! Get it right!

you don't have to only reference bad post-punk groups, there are good ones you know.

I used a Google definition because it's a really simple way of a means to an end, people on music forums will debate the true meaning of punk for eternity, acting like your bands are punk tho tbh is just an insult to punk itself, I'm not trying to be pretentious here but the way I would describe bands like "fall out boy" and Paramore would be "edgy", bands like fall out boy act like they want to kill themselves, Ian Curtis (the front man of joy Division) who you consider to be a not punk band, litterally did kill himself, there is a real difference in conviction here, bands like fall out boy are spewing emotive lines and acting emo because to them it is simply a look, they are all talk, they don't get into it heavy with the media they don't say stupid shit for the hell of it and stick to it because why the hell not, they don't purposely make themselves impossible to interview for a laugh, they don't shoot up dangerous levels of drugs or act with no concern whatsoever for their physical health on stage, they are posers and not punk at all in my honest opinion. In regards to the statement about being anti establishment, I never said that being anti establishment defines punk, read it again I call it a "punk thing" but this is only because it draws similarities to defining punk bands that are unmistakably anti establishment and political such as the sex pistols or the clash, or even some American punk like the talking heads which is also often put under the punk umbrella by the media. I was by no means saying that you must be political to be punk, there are plenty of non political punk groups, I was simply stating that I don't think any of your examples paint a good image of what punk truely is at all, compared to covering oneself in peanut butter and jumping into the audience headfirst, or cutting oneself up with a bottle mid act or getting into a fist fight with a gang of bikers in stage (and that's all just things Iggy pop did let alone a group like the sex pistols) compared to that, the band's u offered as punk look like weak teenage Emo's going through a little bit of a phase at the age of 14.

Sorry if that offends anyone but from my viewpoint you can't be correcting someone for being wrong and offer such extremely contraversial examples yourself of what punk truely is, I mean you are litterally using fringe bands to define a genre that 50 years later people still argue about the definition on, so I felt compelled to explain my personal opinion on the matter
Idk why you wrote all this up bro....punk is about having a good time and spreading anarchy and singing na na na na na in your songs. Spread anarchy btw.
