Hello, my name is phoopes seacrest, and this is the Smogoff Forum Theater, home of the Smoff Awards and the Smogoff Posters Awards, and possibly the most viewed forum on all of Smogon. An undetermined time from now, live, on this very stage, an as-yet unknown talent will be launched into superstardom. We don't know who that is yet. Right now, they could be effortposting in obscurity or even flagrantly shitposting, who knows? What we do know is that soon, that poster's life will change forever. Because you at home decide who will become the next Posting Idol!

Cue the intro music

Welcome to Posting Idol, the thread that's on a mission to discover the next superstar! This thread is completely original and not ripped off from anything, and it is hoped that the eventual winner will be as successful a poster as possible, aiming for number 1 trending threads and tons of reaction score. For this reason we visited locales across the Smogoff world and are hoping to see many auditioners. We're leaving no post unread in the biggest posting talent search ever! Fortunately, just in recent days we've seen a little of this:

But we've also seen... a lot of this:

:v4: whew man, that was not pretty. Let's meet the panel of judges who are going to have to suffer through these auditions...

shoutout to kala for making this^

From left to right we have:

Rand-Ivy Jackson, thread producer
Paula Abdul-mortem, poster/performer/thread choreographer
Simon Cowel-lokki, Swedish posting executive

But what exactly is this tough trio looking for? We'll find out soon! In the meantime, here's a little how this is going to work:

1. Submit an audition post! Posting submissions will be open as long as there's momentum and people keep feeling like submitting audition posts, I guess. Audition posts can be pretty much whatever you want as long as they follow the Smogoff Guidelines. And only one submission per poster, please.

2. Judges (Ivy, antemortem, and Kalalokki) will give critiques whenever they want (idk man I'm not forcing them to do this) and I'll provide commentary along the way.

3. Once posting submissions close, I will consult with the judges and they will decide the top x number of posters that make it to the finals.

4. Once in the finals, each finalist will make a final post that will be voted on by the people of Smogoff to determine who takes home the grand prize: the title of Posting Idol.

---

With all that said: good luck, have fun, and happy posting! Hopefully this goes better than the time Ryan Seacrest tried to high-five a blind dude.

aw wait no hold on does that count as my one post

I am not the best choice for Posting Idol, but every good competition needs that one person (or spork) who fails early on to make the audience more emotional because their amazing talent wasn't enough.

Wow, there's a lot of people in here... haha *wipes sweat off forehead* Well, my name is sb *wipes sweat off forehead again, coughs*, and I'm originally from PE2K. I've been a poster moster...MOST of my life, ever since I was a young boy. *stares at the floor and resumes speaking* But it hasn't always been easy for me...I've had pretty severe anxiety issues my whole life.

*fades out to a video of my mom with solemn music playing*
Hello? Hello? Why isn't this zoom working? What was wrong with phones I hate this fu-
*fades back in to me*

Yeah. Posting was meant to be a respite from all that, but in many ways, the heightened expectations just worsened it. I tried, but I was never really an "in" poster. I saw all these people online having fun with each other, but I just couldn't seem to be a part of that. It made me really self-conscious. And I know I'm not the only one like that. But I've been having some small success with posting after never giving up, and it feels great. So to all the "losers" out there, there's hope for you.

*eyes finally glance up from the floor* And now I'm here, on Posting Idol. When I first saw an ad for this on Crunchyroll, I was almost brought to tears. *starts actually tearing up* That posting could finally be brought out from all the posting cliques was such an unbelievable feeling. That every person stood a real chance. So I'm here now to make my posting dreams a reality. *loudly exhales for ten seconds straight* Okay. Okay. Let's make a difference, sb. Here's my post:
