Ha.
To me, Prom is worthless.
But then again, I'm generally an unromantic cheapass/smartass who couldn't care less for the opposite sex (no, I'm not gay, deadly retroviruses just aren't my thing) so anything that is romantic or fancy doesn't appeal to me.
Instead of going to Prom, I went and spent 200 bucks on a bunch of new import video games and a trip to the local arcade.
Add to that the fact that (due to my school systems terrible financial status at the time), it was held in some kind of empty bank vault (!!?), and I was even less interested. Some people told me I would regret it, but I'm too busy playing these awesome japanese import videogames to pay much attention to them ;D
Can't get into a really top college w/o a social life however ;)
What do you guys think about asking people in lower grades? There is a realllly pretty sophmore girl in my orchestra, and I'm thinking about asking her out.
Oh yeah? I did nothing but study and play games, and I got into one of the "top" colleges in my region. And you know what? It wasn't worth it. I wound up leaving after realizing that I had paid someone 2000 dollars of my own money just so that they could teach me math.
I could pay for a substantial chunk of my tuition at a state school with that much money, and still learn the same shit. On top of that, the atmosphere was overly snobby at times and most of the other students had ultra-rich parents that were paying for them and were obnoxious overachievers.
I suggest you be careful what you wish for. If you thrive in that kind of environment, good for you, but your wallet will need a trip to urgent care when you're done.
