This post is also available in English.

  • Estar no Discord da Sala Português;
  • Estar presente na auction do torneio (pelo menos um representante do time deverá estar presente);
  • Enviar a lineup que jogará em cada semana;
  • Fazer o possível para que seus jogadores joguem todas as partidas dentro do prazo;
  • Comunicar quaisquer problemas ou questionamentos referentes ao torneio aos hosts;

  • Saldo de confrontos (ou battle difference) — a diferença entre o total de partidas ganhas e o total de partidas perdidas;
    • Confronto direto;
    • Número total de semanas vencidas.
O formato do tie-breaker será:

2. Trocas – Trocas só serão permitidas durante a auction.

Hello again! Welcome to the second edition of the Portuguese Spring League (PTSL). For those who are not familiar with it, PTSL is a team tournament that aims to encourage participation from the Portuguese-speaking community, while also providing opportunities for new captains (Managers). Because of this, all teams are required to purchase and field a minimum number of Portuguese-speaking players.

During the first five weeks of competition, teams will face each other in a round-robin format to earn points and compete for a spot in the playoffs, where the top four teams will battle to determine the tournament champion. If you are interested in participating, keep reading to learn more about the tournament and its rules.

This year, once again, MyPearl and Grillo will be the tournament hosts. To participate in the tournament, players must be in the Português Room Discord.

Some of the tournament's main rules:
  1. Each team will have one (1) captain (Manager), who must speak Portuguese, and up to two (2) assistants (Assistant Managers), only one of whom may not speak Portuguese.
  2. Captains and assistants will need to self-buy for 20k (20,000) in order to play in the tournament.
  3. The minimum number of players for a team is sixteen (16).
  4. The maximum number of players for a team is twenty (20).
  5. Each team must have a minimum of twelve (12) Portuguese-speaking players, and at least ten (10) of them must be in the lineup every week. Captains and assistants who self-buy count toward both requirements.
  6. During the first three weeks, players may only play in the tiers they signed up for. This does not apply to players who cost 5k (5,000) or less.
  7. The captain and, consequently, the team that purchase an alternate account belonging to a banned player or a player using a different name to get a cheaper price will be punished, as will the players who do so.
The forum's general tournament rules will apply to this tournament. Please read them carefully.

Before the lineups for each week, both teams in each matchup must submit the tiers they will choose for their four Flex Slots. A team may not choose the same tier twice, but the same tier may be chosen by both teams in the matchup.

Other information about PTSL:

The captain is, essentially, the commander of a team. They have the final say in all team decisions (with the exception of the tournament hosts). The captain decides who plays each match for the team and manages the team's finances. They are also responsible for ensuring that the team functions properly on a day-to-day basis. If a team is unable to complete its matches during a given week, it is the captain's responsibility to inform the hosts about the status of the matchup so that they can make the appropriate activity decisions for the tournament.

Given these responsibilities, the main captain is undoubtedly the most important part of the team. Therefore, this role should be taken very seriously.
  • Main captains will be chosen based on the opinions of the hosts and the rest of the tournament-related staff, taking into account who they believe are the best candidates to fill the captain positions. Consideration will also be given to whether a captain has already had the opportunity to serve in this role during PTPL. If that is the case, we will, whenever possible, seek to provide opportunities for captains whom we consider capable and who have not had the same opportunity to take on the position, even if they are less experienced overall.
  • Each main captain must have an assistant. The captain must state who their assistant will be when signing up as a captain. The assistant will be the team's second-in-command and will have the same responsibilities as the captain, with the difference that the captain's word will carry more weight than the assistant's. The same level of responsibility expected from captains will be expected from assistants, and the tournament hosts may veto an assistant and ask their captain to choose another user if they so decide.
Some of the responsibilities of a team's captains will be:
  • Be in the Português Room Discord;
  • Be present at the tournament auction (at least one team representative must be present);
  • Submit the lineup that will play each week;
  • Do their best to ensure their players play all their matches within the deadline;
  • Communicate any tournament-related problems or questions to the hosts;
Do not sign up for the tournament if you do not plan to play it until the end. This includes continuing to compete even if your team no longer has a chance of qualifying. A good performance until the end of the tournament may contribute to you being remembered and considered for future opportunities in other tournaments. Therefore, it is still worth giving your best and trying to win all of your matches.

Players may be punished for failing to commit to completing their matches.
Each team will have 160,000 (or 160k) credits.

The auction will be scheduled by the hosts together with the team captains. Captains and assistants will cost 20k each if purchased by their own team.

Once the time has been set, representatives from each of the six teams, as well as the hosts, will enter the room where the auction will take place. Spectators may enter and watch the auction, but they will not be allowed to comment on it. Discussions about the auction should take place in an appropriate location, such as the tournament Discord.

The hosts will ask the first team to nominate a player. The nomination order will follow a "snake" format (from first to last and then from last to first). The tiers in which the player will be able to play will be stated after each nomination. The auction will then begin, with captains placing their bids for the player. The opening bid from the team that nominated the player will be 3k, and each captain may outbid the previous bid by increasing it in multiples of 0.5k (500). After a few seconds without a new bid, the player will be sold to the team that made the highest bid. There will be a warning when 10 seconds remain before a bid is finalized. Captains are expected to have a list of players they intend to purchase, allowing the auction to proceed as quickly and orderly as possible.

Each team must have 12 starters and a minimum of 4 substitutes, with a maximum of 8 substitutes, including captains who were purchased as players. Each purchased player must cost at least 3k. This means that a team may not spend an amount that leaves it without enough credits to reach 16 players.
The first phase will use a round-robin format (everyone plays everyone) over 5 weeks, with each team having a new matchup each week. Captains must submit their team lineup before the end of each week. The schedule, indicating which teams will face each other each week, will be made available before the start of the first week.

The players from each team will face each other in their respective positions (the first OU player from one team will face the first OU player from the other, and so on). The team that wins more matches will win the week's matchup and receive 2 points. If both teams win the same number of matches, the matchup will end in a tie, and each team will receive 1 point.

At the end of the first phase, there will be a single-elimination playoff between the four teams with the most points. If there is a tie in the total number of points in the standings, the following tiebreakers will be used:

  • Battle difference — the difference between the total number of matches won and the total number of matches lost;
  • In the event of a tie in battle difference between teams that have already qualified or been eliminated, the following tiebreakers will be used, in this order, to determine the final standings:
    • Head-to-head;
    • Total number of weeks won.
  • In the event of a tie in battle difference between teams competing for a playoff spot, a tie-breaker will be held between the teams to determine who advances. The tie-breaker format will be:
    • Best of three (Bo3), in which each team will choose one of the tournament's formats, with SV OU being used as the third format.
Once the top four teams have been determined, the teams will be paired to face each other in the semifinals. The 1st-place team will face the 4th-place team, while the 2nd-place team will face the 3rd-place team. The winners of these matches will advance to the final.

The winner of the final will be the champion of this edition of the Portuguese Spring League.

In the event of a tie during the playoffs, the same tie-breaker format defined for the first phase will be used.
Until the third week, captains will have the opportunity to report to the hosts players who, in their opinion, have not demonstrated the minimum level of activity required or are intentionally harming their team.
1. Substitutions – At any point during the week, a team may substitute a player who is unable to complete their match. To do so, the captain must post in the thread for the relevant week, mentioning the tournament hosts and the opposing team's captains, and indicating who will replace whom. Lineup rules still apply to substitutions (you may not replace a player with someone who did not sign up for that tier during the first three weeks, unless they fall under one of the explicit exceptions, and you may not substitute a player in a way that leaves the starting lineup without any Portuguese-speaking player). Substitutions will also be subject to host veto in order to prevent attempts to manipulate matchups.

2. Trades – Trades will only be allowed during the auction.

3. Activity Decisions – There will always be occasions when two teams are unable to complete a match. In these situations, the hosts will make activity decisions regarding the matches. The hosts will seek information about any match that may not be completed during the week. If it is determined that both sides showed disinterest or that both attempted to complete the match but, for some reason, it could not take place, the match will be considered a deadgame (neither team will receive points). However, if it is determined that one side made more of an effort than the other to complete the match, the win will be awarded to their player.

Some factors that may contribute to an activity loss are: failing to contact the opponent or failing to respond to their messages; doing so late; failing to show up at the scheduled time for the match; and failing to provide a specific period of time during which they are available to play. Remember that this tournament requires player activity. If you do not believe you will be able to complete your matches, do not sign up.

4. Rule Breaking – There is no justification for breaking any rule. If you break a tournament rule, you will be punished for it. Depending on the rule broken, punishments may range from losing the match to being banned from the forum.

5. Retroactive Decisions – At no point may decisions made during the tournament be changed after the end of a week. This includes any decision that may be made by the tournament hosts, including activity decisions and decisions related to rule violations. If you wish to contest a decision, do so during the same week in which it was made; otherwise, nothing can be done about it.

If you have any questions about the tournament that have not been clarified in this thread or in the general rules thread, you may ask any of the tournament hosts. For any situations not covered by the rules, it will be up to the tournament hosts to decide how to proceed.

The manager is basically the commander of a team. They have the final say on all team decisions (with the exception of the tournament hosts). The manager decides who plays each match for the team and manages the team's finances. They also have the role of ensuring the team operates smoothly day-to-day. Given these responsibilities, the main manager is undoubtedly the most important part of the team. Therefore, this role must be taken very seriously.

  • Main managers will be selected based on the input of the hosts and the rest of the tournament staff, considering who they believe are the best candidates to fill managerial positions. Consideration will also be given to whether a manager has already had the opportunity to serve in this role during PTPL. If so, we will try, where possible, to open up opportunities for managers we consider capable who have not had the same luck to step into the position, even if they are less experienced overall.
  • Each main manager must have an assistant manager. The manager must declare who their assistant will be when signing up as manager. The assistant will be second-in-command and will share the same duties as the manager, with the exception that the manager's word carries more weight than the assistant's. The same level of responsibility expected of managers will be expected of assistants, and tournament hosts may veto an assistant and request that their manager choose another user should they decide to do so.

Some of the manager's duties will be:
  • Being in the Portuguese Room Discord;
  • Attending the tournament auction (at least one representative from the team must be present);
  • Submitting the starting lineup for each week;
  • Doing everything possible to ensure their players complete all matches on time;
  • Communicating any issues or inquiries regarding the tournament to the hosts;
  • Communicating any issues or inquiries regarding the status of their matches to opposing team managers and tournament hosts when necessary;
  • Reporting and confirming any trades or sellbacks made by their team. To avoid issues, a trade or sellback can only be confirmed by the team's main manager, not their assistant manager.
Do not sign up for the tournament if you do not plan to play it through to the end. This includes continuing to compete even if your team no longer has a chance of qualifying. A strong performance through the end of the tournament can help ensure you are remembered and considered for future opportunities in other tournaments. Therefore, it is still worth giving your best and trying to win all of your matches.

Players may be penalized for a lack of commitment to completing their matches.

During the first three weeks of the tournament, players may only play in the tiers they signed up for, with the exception of players who cost 5k (5,000) or less.
Each team will have 160,000 (or 160k) credits.

The auction will be scheduled by the hosts together with the team managers. Managers and assistant managers will cost 20k each if self-bought by their team.

Once the time is set, representatives from each of the six teams, as well as the hosts, will enter the room where the auction will take place. Spectators may join and watch the auction, but they will not be allowed to comment. Discussions about the auction should take place in an appropriate location, such as the tournament Discord.

The hosts will ask the first team to nominate a player. The order of nominations will follow a "snake" format (from first to last, then last to first). The tiers in which the player is eligible to play will be announced after each nomination. Then, bidding will begin, where managers will bid for the player. The opening bid from the nominating team will be 3k, and any manager may outbid the previous offer by raising it in increments of 0.5k (500). After a few seconds with no new bids, the player will be sold to the team with the highest bid. A warning will be given when 10 seconds remain before a bid is finalized. Managers are expected to have a list of players they intend to target so the auction can run as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Each team must have 12 starters and a minimum of 4 substitutes, up to a maximum of 8 substitutes, including managers bought as players. Each player purchased must cost at least 3k. This means a team cannot spend an amount that leaves them with insufficient credits to reach 16 players. Player trades, including trades involving cash, may not be made until the conclusion of the auction.
The first phase will follow a round-robin format over 5 weeks, with each team having a new matchup each week. Managers must submit their team line-ups before the end of each week. The schedule, indicating which teams face each other each week, will be made available before Week 1 starts.

Players from each team will face off in their respective slots (the first OU player of one team will play the first OU player of the other, and so on). The team that wins the most matches wins the week's matchup and receives 2 points. If both teams win the same number of matches, the matchup ends in a draw, and each team receives 1 point.

At the end of the first phase, the top four teams with the most points will advance to a single-elimination playoff format. If there is a tie in total points in the standings, the following tiebreakers will be used:

  • Battle difference — the difference between total matches won and total matches lost;
  • In the event of a tie in battle difference between teams that are already qualified or eliminated, the following criteria will be used, in this order, to determine final standings:
    • Head-to-head match;
    • Total number of weeks won.
  • In the event of a tie in battle difference between teams competing for a playoff spot, a tiebreaker match will be played between the teams to determine who advances. The format for the tiebreaker will be:
    • Best of three (Bo3), where each team selects one of the tournament formats, and SV OU is used as the third format.

Once the top four teams are finalized, they will be seeded into the semifinals: 1st place vs 4th place, and 2nd place vs 3rd place. The winners of these matches will advance to the finals.

The winner of the finals will be crowned champion of this edition of the Portuguese Spring League.

In the event of a tie during the playoffs, the same tiebreaker format defined for the first phase will be used.
Up until Week 3, managers will have the opportunity to report to hosts any players who, in their opinion, have not demonstrated the minimum required activity or are intentionally hindering their team.
1. Substitutions – At any point during the week, a team may substitute a player who cannot complete their match. To do so, the manager must post in the thread for that week, tagging the tournament hosts and the opposing team managers, indicating who is replacing whom. Roster constraints still apply to substitutions (you cannot substitute a player with someone who did not sign up for that tier during the first four weeks, unless they meet one of the explicit exceptions, and you cannot make a substitution that leaves the starting lineup without any Portuguese speakers). Substitutions will also be subject to host vetoes to prevent match manipulation attempts.

2. Trades – Trades will only be permitted during the auction and through the end of Week 3. Players traded prior to the start of Week 1 may be fielded by their new teams starting in Week 1. However, players traded between Week 1 and Week 4 may only play starting in Week 4 of the tournament. For a trade to be confirmed, both managers involved must send a PM to the host detailing the players and amounts involved in the deal. Players cannot be traded starting from Week 4 onward. Teams may not make trades with each other during a week in which they are facing one another. Furthermore, trades cannot be completed if they cause any team to fall below the minimum roster limit or exceed the maximum limit.

3. Activity decisions – There will always be instances where two teams fail to complete a match. In those situations, hosts will make activity decisions on the games. Hosts will gather information on any match that might not be played during the week. If it is determined that both sides showed a lack of interest, or that both attempted to complete the match but were unable to for some reason, the match will be declared a deadgame (neither team receives points). However, if it is determined that one party made more of an effort than the other to try to play the match, the win will be awarded to their player.

Some factors that may contribute to an activity loss include: failing to contact your opponent or failing to reply to their messages; doing so late; failing to show up at the scheduled match time; and failing to provide a specific window of availability to play. Remember that this tournament requires activity from its players. If you do not believe you can complete your matches, do not sign up.

4. Rule breaking – There is no justification for breaking any rules. If you break a tournament rule, you will be punished for it. Depending on the rule broken, penalties can range from a match forfeiture to a forum ban.

5. Retroactive decisions – At no point can decisions made during the tournament be altered after a week has concluded. This includes any decisions made by tournament hosts, including activity decisions and rulings regarding rule infractions. If you wish to contest a decision, do so during the same week it was made; otherwise, nothing can be done about it.

If you have any questions about the tournament that were not answered in this thread or in the general rules thread, feel free to ask any of the tournament hosts. For any situations not covered by the rules, it will be up to the tournament hosts to decide how to proceed.
