Lycanroc
Lycanroc @ Lycanium Z
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Stone Edge
- Fire Fang
- Accelerock

Not a whole lot to say about this very fast rock puppy. Stone Edge has a high chance to OHKO (also accounting for high crit ratio) before Turtonator even gets to click Shell Smash once. Alternatively, if you are running Lycanroc with Taunt over Swords Dance or something, you could Taunt the Shell Smash entirely. However, this is not as preferable as Lycanroc appreciates its ability to set up. And if you get the lowest role possible with Stone Edge, Accelerock finishes up Turtonator before it gets to fire off an attack. (Z-move guarantees the OHKO with Stone Edge, however Focus Sash is just as optimal).

All in all, Lycanroc is a solid Offensive Counter Check to Turtonator. Short, sweet, and to the point.

Note: Lycanroc does NOT switch into a Z-Draco whatsoever, as that even unboosted is an OHKO, however; if you get the switch prediction correctly: Turtonator offensively will keep Turtonator from Shell Smashing in the first place. Play it well.

252 Atk Lycanroc Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Turtonator: 234-276 (89.6 - 105.7%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO
252 Atk Lycanroc Splintered Stormshards vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Turtonator: 440-518 (168.5 - 198.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Lycanroc Accelerock vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Turtonator: 96-114 (36.7 - 43.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

type:null

PGL-772.png
Type: Null @ Eviolite
Ability: Battle Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 8 Def / 248 SpD
Careful Nature
- U-turn
- Return
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Type:Null is a decent check
as it can tank a +2 devestating drake and can rest that damage on the next turn. it can also come into any move of it unboosted
and tank that move, no matter if it is draco meteor or fire blast. It can also tank +2 draco meteor / fire blast and after using draco meteor once, turtonator is back at neutral spatt.
just keep in mind, that you always have to switch in Type:Null safely, because turtonator is still somewhat threatening at +2 - however, Type:Null is a decent check and
is able to annoy turtonator, because it will burn off its z-move eventually on Type:Null to be able to put out decent damage on it.

Calcs:
252 SpA Turtonator Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 248+ SpD Eviolite Type: Null: 70-84 (17.7 - 21.3%) -- guaranteed 5HKO after Stealth Rock

252 SpA Turtonator Dragon Pulse vs. 252 HP / 248+ SpD Eviolite Type: Null: 55-66 (13.9 - 16.7%) -- possible 6HKO after Stealth Rock

0 Atk Type: Null Return vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Turtonator: 82-97 (31.4 - 37.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
0 Atk Type: Null Return vs. -1 0 HP / 0 Def Turtonator: 121-144 (46.3 - 55.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

+2 252 SpA Turtonator Devastating Drake (195 BP) vs. 252 HP / 248+ SpD Eviolite Type: Null: 249-294 (63.1 - 74.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock (Draco Meteor)
+2 252 SpA Turtonator Devastating Drake (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 248+ SpD Eviolite Type: Null: 204-241 (51.7 - 61.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock (Dragon Pulse)

Ok I just wanna clear things about checks and counters. The definition of a counter is a Pokémon that can always switch into said Pokemon in a normal scenario, not including lure sets, and either force it out or beat it 1v1. A check is something that can either sometimes switch in on said Pokemon or is able to revenge kill it.

All in all, Lycanroc is the best Offensive Counter to Turtonator. Short, sweet, and to the point.

252 Atk Lycanroc Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Turtonator: 234-276 (89.6 - 105.7%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO
252 Atk Lycanroc Splintered Stormshards vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Turtonator: 440-518 (168.5 - 198.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Lycanroc Accelerock vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Turtonator: 96-114 (36.7 - 43.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Lycanroc is a check not a counter. It can't come in on Turtonator, as an unboosted Devastating Drake always OHKOes, and if Turt uses Shell Smash on the switch it outruns and OHKOes with a +2 Dragon Pulse, while Accelerock is never a OHKO. It will still always beat an unboosted Turtonator one on one though.

252 SpA Turtonator Devastating Drake (195 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Lycanroc: 355-418 (121.9 - 143.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 SpA Turtonator Dragon Pulse vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Lycanroc: 307-363 (105.4 - 124.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Lycanroc Accelerock vs. -1 0 HP / 0 Def Turtonator: 140-168 (53.6 - 64.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 108 Def / 148 SpD
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Earth Power
- Recover
- Toxic

Gastrodon is a decent check to Turtonator. If Turtonator hasn't boosted yet, Devastating Drake never OHKOes and it can just recover off the damage. If it has boosted it can tank anything apart from a Z move and OHKO with Earth Power once Turtonator is at -1 SpD.

Calcs:
252 SpA Turtonator Devastating Drake (195 BP) vs. 252 HP / 148+ SpD Gastrodon: 228-268 (53.5 - 62.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Gastrodon Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Turtonator: 206-246 (78.9 - 94.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252 SpA Turtonator Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 148+ SpD Gastrodon: 303-357 (71.1 - 83.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Gastrodon Earth Power vs. -1 0 HP / 4 SpD Turtonator: 308-366 (118 - 140.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Alright counters are hard to find for this thing especially after a shell smash

So I have to get creative and suggest no sets :D

The set
Aggron @ Assault Vest
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 248 HP / 240 SpD / 20 Spe
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Head Smash
- Rock Slide
- Heavy Slam

And here’s some calcs
252 SpA Turtonator Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 240+ SpD Assault Vest Aggron: 94-112 (27.4 - 32.6%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

+2 252 SpA Turtonator Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 240+ SpD Assault Vest Aggron: 187-222 (54.5 - 64.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

0 Atk Aggron Head Smash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Turtonator: 270-320 (103.4 - 122.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO = Death

If Rocks were up
0 Atk Aggron Rock Slide vs. -1 0 HP / 0 Def Turtonator: 204-242 (78.1 - 92.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Kabutops is one of the best Turtonator Offensives Checks since it can do Spinner and Kill of OHKO or 2HKO, In addition to Checking Turtonator can serve as support for any team Only having problems with the Type Fight and Tangela but nothing that a good teammate can solve, that and many other things makes one of the best Checks.

252+ Atk Kabutops Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Turtonator: 254-302 (97.3 - 115.7%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock

Thanks to Sturdy, Golem can withstand even a boosted Devastating Drake.
252+ Atk Golem Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Turtonator: 264-312 (101.1 - 119.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Custap Berry allows Golem to set up Stealth Rock and then use Explosion/Earthquake/Stone Edge. Nominated as a check.

Counter - Carbink

Carbink hard walls Turtonator, being immune to its main offensive trait : Devastating Drake. It also resists Fire Blast and pretty much live any attack Turtonator can throw after Shell Smash minus the rare Bloom Doom. It also isnt crippled by Substitute, since it deals decent damage with its either of its STABs : Power Gem 2HKOs Turtonator after loosing sp. def while Moonblast 3HKOs. It can also set up Stealth Rock in front of Turtonator and Rest to get rid of any prior status and damage.

+2 252 SpA Turtonator Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Carbink: 76-90 (25 - 29.6%) -- guaranteed 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 SpA Turtonator Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Carbink: 99-117 (32.5 - 38.4%) -- 2.2% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Probopass @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 172 HP / 252 SpA / 84 Spe
Modest Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power Fire
- Power Gem/Earth Power

Welcome to DIE! Probopass makes for a counter. Probopass can retain its usual steel-trapping shenanigans while still being able to go head-on against the likes of this thing, only being unable to do so in the most unfortunate circumstances. The first three moves are standard-issue stuff for other things, but it's the fourth move that asks "how afraid am I of this thing, and maybe other things that float?"

Under normal circumstances, both Earth Power and Power Gem are at least guaranteed 2HKOs compared to Turtonator's 5.5% chance to 3HKO with Fire Blast (not factoring burns & misses), Power Gem edges out in more ways than one, including an 18.8% chance to OHKO in a normal case and a guaranteed KO after a Shell Smash, compared to Earth Power's 87.5% chance to OHKO only after a Shell Smash

But in case I'm supposed to have solid locked-in attack selections, I'm gonna side with Power Gem on this one

(the non-boosted attacks for if he Turt attacks on the switch, and the +2 if Turt casts Shell Smash)
252 SpA Turtonator Fire Blast vs. 172 HP / 0 SpD Probopass: 100-118 (32.8 - 38.8%) -- 5.5% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

+2 252 SpA Turtonator Fire Blast vs. 172 HP / 0 SpD Probopass: 198-234 (65.1 - 76.9%)
+2 252 SpA Turtonator Devastating Drake (195 BP) vs. 172 HP / 0 SpD Probopass: 174-206 (57.2 - 67.7%)

A Defensive Check:

Pyukumuku @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Recover
- Toxic
- Block
- Light Screen

Pyukumuku is a great check against Turtonator. Unaware makes Shell Smash useless and at full health Pyuku can switch into Devastating Drake with Stealth Rock up and can survive a following Draco Meteor. Pyuku switches into Dragon Pulse and Fire Blast easily and can simply heal after any attack Turtonator can do, meaning if Pyuku gets a free switch in it can trap Turtonator with block, toxic it, and set up light screen. So if Pyuku is in a turn with 38% hp or more (without Turtonator having Devastating Drake available) it forces Turtonator to immediately switch out or be taken out by toxic.

252 SpA Turtonator Devastating Drake (195 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Pyukumuku: 150-177 (47.7 - 56.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Turtonator Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Pyukumuku: 100-118 (31.8 - 37.5%) -- 90.8% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Turtonator Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Pyukumuku: 42-50 (13.3 - 15.9%) -- possible 9HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Turtonator Dragon Pulse vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Pyukumuku: 66-78 (21 - 24.8%) -- possible 5HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
