stout and raticate ain't counters (more particularly stout), because of chip damages from Dark pulse when they switch in, yh, CM clef, encore/NP Togetic, and CM/psych up Carbink are real counters, also things like Passi/chan BU win vs spiri

The definition in use is this:
"Pokémon A counters Pokémon B if Pokémon A can manually switch into Pokémon B and still win every time, even under the worst case scenario, without factoring in hax."
And besides, considering Rat is getting like 7 switchins to dark pulse and upon each of those switchins you are forced to switch into one of the best wallbreakers in the tier, I'd say it's comfortably a counter, and Stout works in a similar vein.

May aswell contribute to this thread after running it for so long. Shuca Alolan Sandslash is a good check to Aurorus as it can outspeed and 2HKO with Earthquake whilst avoiding the OHKO from Earth Power due to the Shuca Berry.

Scarf Primeape is a good check to specs Aurorus as it can always OHKO with a close combat. Additionally, Primeape can live any one hit from Aurorus (except for blizzard) and can then outspeed and OHKO with CC.

Floatzel is a great check to Aurorus: it outspeeds and OHKOs both Specs and Scarf, which is definitely a plus given how other checks such as Archeops have to play mindgames around the two sets if damage rolls haven't been scouted. I'm actually starting to prefer this set over the standard specially offensive one; the aforementioned is easily exploitable by Clefairy, Hitmonchan, Eelektross, Lanturn, etc., all of which this set blows through

Here's a nice offensive check. A Choice Specs Refrigerate Hyper Voice is able to burst Sensu even when it's behind a substitute and Aurorus takes very little from Oricorio's boosted moves as it has great natural bulk and resists Supersonic Skystrike. Lives anything from +1 Sensu even with rocks up and anything from +2 Sensu without rocks up. While unorthodox, bulkier teams prefer Refrigerate Aurorus to avoid being chipped by its own teammate's hail.

Corsola as a super counter . Takes ridiculously low damage from oricorio, and usually wins even when it misses headsmash. Regen pivot allows it to counter special attackers without losing momentum. Don't laugh, every time someone criticized corsola they got owned hard. Can be used to scout aurorus, pyroar (even with hp grass), lanturn, eelektross, only dangerous thing is +1 lilligant for the aquatic blissey.
