Sableye is a counter to Primeape, as it avoids the 2HKO from any hit, has access to priority Recover and Will-o-Wisp, and can punish U-turns with Rocky Helmet. Recover also means Sableye can stay consistent at this role throughout a game.​

Mesprit is a Counter to Primeape. I didn't stutter. It's a counter. You don't have to be a ghost type to knock this monkey flat on its face. Rocky Helmet punishes Primeape even further by chipping away at its health while it tries to slap you with its noodle arms. Here's some of the calcs:

CroTomb is nice counter for primeape and easily use it as a set up mon for own calm minds. Also the ability pressure is dropping the main stab close combat to only 4pp's. In case you want to punish primeape for u-turning, u can run rocky helmet instead of lefties. Thanks to rest, spiritomb will keep itself healthy during the match. Also, if u have hard time with your teambuilding against fightning types, u can replace sleep talk with psychic.

Gurdurr is a good Counter to primeape it isn’t 2KOd by any of its moves and it can switch in a couple of times. It also simply revenge kills with a drain punch.

Silvally-Fairy is a solid check to Primeape. It takes a solid chunk from Gunk Shot (but doesn't die!!), but purely by existing it acts as a solid deterrent to Primeape's Close Combat and can OHKO it in return with Multi-Attack.

I was notified of the fact that there haven't been many checks chosen for this thread, so I will do my part in posting a potentially cursed mon in the current meta, but one that despite the fire that has been thrown at it, does the job of checking Primeape.

Well, Scyther is quite self explanatory: Its fast and it has a decent movepool. I havent used this mon in months but, like Ive mentioned before, its nice to keep a record of the more obscure options that might not be considered at first sight when building, so maybe when someone is trying to build a team and require a mon to check certain things, these not so common choices might do the job. I dont think theres much to say regarding Scyther, it outspeeds and OHKOs Ape with Aerial Ace and it can also Knock Off something on the expected switch (Calcs here seem redundant). On the other hand, Ape is able to OHKO the bug on the switch with Stone Edge and 2HKO it with Gunk Shot. Not the most popular or easy to use mon in the current meta but one that exists nonetheless.

Due to its good typing in Grass / Water Ludicolo is a good CHECK to Omastar because Omastar has no move which can OHKO Ludicolo.
Ludicolo 4x resists Omastars STAB in Hydro Pump and also resists Omastars coverage options in Earth Power and Hidden Power [Grass].
Ice Beam also is not an OHKO even after a +2 boost from Shell Smash and same goes for a +2 boosted Tectonic Rage or a +2 boosted Hydro Vortex.
In return Giga Drain is a clear OHKO on Omastar and Ludicolo gains almost 50% health back, when it kills Omastar from full, same goes for Hydro Pump which also picks off Omastar from full HP.
When Omastar is Weak Armor instead of Swift Swim under Rain Ludicolo is faster than a +2 Speed boosted Omastar due to its move in Shell Smash.
In overall Ludicolo is a good CHECK to Omastar

generic offensive check, outspeeds omastar even at +2 and clicks cc. just a side note, when accounting for all set variables, viable defensive counters are virtually non-existent; poliwrath folds to z-ep, eelektross/chan to waterium, etcetera. ludicolo which is above me is definitely a creative and underrated take on this so I'm interested to see what that posts looks like after editing.
