GO ODRAS!!! This was the most exhausting tournament I’ve ever been in, mixture of irl and personal stuff got in the way and there were many times when I doubted if I’d be able to give people the support they deserved. I’m not sure I achieved that at all times, but I am SO happy its over. A personal 4-3 record is alright all things considered, but I’m mostly just thankful to everyone who made this tournament not only bearable but also really great and fun. Too many to mention. I’m forever grateful for this community.
Now onto shoutouts:
Meri Berry: “Week 4 and 5”, I could say that and it would say everything. Two weeks that at a personal level totally wrecked me. Yet you were there to give people your amazing energy and support when I was really struggling. I’ll never forget how positive you tried to be when I couldn’t possibly imagine doing so. But still, every week you worked SO hard, you tested, you learned so many tiers, you built, and most importantly, still had time to be the kindest and loveliest ever. I’m so lucky to have you at my side and to have won this with you. Now let’s please not talk Pokemon for the next month or so or it’ll drive me crazy. Pook.
asa: How things have changed from managing with you a year ago to now. One thing that has not changed is how reliable and understand you’ve always been. I know you didn’t have a great time through some parts of this tournament and that your confidence wasn’t always there, but you still provided so much for us whenever you could. It wouldn’t have felt right to win without you, and you were the best third manager Meri and I could’ve asked for. Your knowledge is only parallelled by your care. My co-tl is truly the best, thank you for the 39549389 test games.
Django: I never once doubted you and I still don’t. You got some well-earned wins against great players, and while I’m sure you feel like you could’ve done better, I still would work with you in a heartbeat in any other tournament and would be so happy to have you on any future Goodra teams. I think you’re a fundamental player with very creative ideas and a great sense of humour. A lovely presence in our cord, you were essential to our energy. Really hope we can work again sometime!
Meru: in many ways you set the rhythm for our team. Your, frankly, maniacally methodical way of analyzing teams and matchups, ability to study replays and develop your ideas was nothing short of astounding to me. You worked so hard and, while I’m sure you feel like you could’ve achieved a better record, I do not think that this is due to your lack of skill or work ethic. I absolutely respect your hard work and have learned so much from it, I thank you for that.
Estarossa: We couldn’t possibly see things more differently about SM LOL, but our love for it is just the same! Week after week, I remember feeling a little unsure about some of your choices and not fully grasping your ideas. How FOOLISH! You do things your own way and it allows you to be such an interesting player with great building skill and plays. Just like with Meru, I learned a lot from your way of working, and I’m so glad that the “gamble” we took resulted in me getting to know such a lovely and great player after years of us not interacting much with each other.
Aberforth: You got the opposite of what you deserve this season. I came into this knowing you’re such a solid and hardworking player, and that opinion never changed. You tested your ass off with a million ideas, were receptive to input and kept learning. People love talking about how lucky you got one week despite the fact you got lucked like 3 times this tournament, but alas. The Goodras know better. You’re always so receptive to talk to and even lent an ear when I needed it during a very particular week. I hope your love of ORAS hasn’t faltered, cause our trust in you hasn’t. You deserve this win as much as anyone else on this team.
EviGaro: So earlier when I said that I couldn’t imagine winning without asa, well that applies to you a million times. You were my first manager, one of my very first close friends. I know this tournament wasn’t always smooth for us and that there were times when we weren’t sure what was going on, but you knew when to lock in and be the most reliable and hardworking you could be. I have SO much to say that wouldn’t appropriately fit in a message like this. I just wanna say that I’m thankful for you forever, not cuz we won but cuz u were there for me from the start so many years ago. I wouldn’t be who I am, on this site or otherwise without you. You and all of the gobos gave me times I’ll never forget the same way you talk about the friend who did that for you too. Now this is one of those moments too. Really happy we have each other <3
JabbaTheGriffin: Idrk what there is to say about Jabba that hasn’t been said before. Locks in, builds an hour before the game, wins. You play a risky game, but so is the gen as a whole. It was always a treat seeing you play, probably the most fun I had every week was seeing how your fast builds worked their magic. I almost envy your knowledge and talent. I’m sure you’d say its not a big deal, but you got the season you deserved and hopefully more. Enjoy Vegas!
Slowbroth: Holy your prep was impressive. I’m SO glad we got to team up and I got to learn so much. Just like Meru you’re a student of the gen you invest yourself into. You were so reliable and easy to work with. I do wanna apologize cuz I feel like I couldn’t support you in the way I wish, even in our test games I felt SO outmatched LOL. Thankfully you didn’t need that much help, clearly. Your help in ORAS was also invaluable, and your love for PU shines as bright as your ability to pilot those little guys. I learned to love ADV again, and I’m so glad to have witnessed it through you.
Thiago Nunes: Every week, Meri, Meru, asa and I would sit down and come up with stuff for you to bring, sometimes with you as well. This ritual of sorts became really important and it was only possible thanks to your awesome skill and kindness. I always appreciated how thankful you seemed to be for our help, and how any loss was met with this feeling of perseverance, like you knew you could do better, and you did. It was really impressive and fun; I had such a great time teaming up with you. You were very funny and easy to work with and I hope we can run it back sometime again. Your energy was vital to our victory, so thank you!
Bella,
Aurist,
Lasen: I don’t think you three quite know how vital you were, in VERY different ways. Bella, thank you so much for your help in SV and for doing your best when you were playing. I know that at some points this was a difficult tournament for you at a personal level, but your energy and flavour added such a different energy to a team filled with old people LOL. I’m rooting for you and hope you manage to do great things, which I know you’re much capable of. Aurist, your support was always so great, you were there for Django when most of us were asleep and always managed to have great insight into things. I’m really sorry that I couldn’t give you a game this season, my idea was for you to sub in for me week 6 when we played the Stoners, but I ended up getting Kenix ROFL, so that didn’t really work out. You deserved better in that regard, but I hope you still had a good time. Thank you. Finally, Lasen, you were SO important to us when things were looking pretty bad due to um, unfortunate circumstances. Meri and I picked you up cuz we were familiar with your oldgens familiarity, but also cuz we knew how much fun you are. Your energy and stories were so valuable to us, and I hope you know that I’m not sure we would’ve made it to where we are without them.
Akir,
Bouff,
DugZa: You were all of our helpers and definitely more than enough. Thank you so much for your lovely vibes and insight, y’all definitely helped much more than you prob think, and we’re so lucky to have had you along. <3
I also wanna thank
ken and
Vertigo for being great hosts as well as all of the people who took part in the new YouTube recaps, mainly
fish anemometer and
gulch.
And lastly everyone who cares for our little tier. I’m hoping to see some of that talent in full display for SCL, and can’t wait to see you all next year too! This one is for u too,
