question: Are you allowed to trade pokemon for art?

Hey, I'm new here, and I wanted to know if it is allowed to trade pokemon for art. For example: Offer a batch of icons, signatures, or paintings for a pokemon in exchange. Or is that against the rules?

just wondering, I wanted to ask before I made a thread! Last time I asked for pokemon in exchange for pokemon related commissions I got banned. :/

Well, I believe that art is only worth other forms of art in Smeargles Studio. Everyone in the trading thread uses credits, which are based off of the pokemon you have...or along those lines. You could possibly pull that off, since I actually know people who are reaally interested in both.

It's a form of exchange/barter/payment, so I don't see why not!

I think you'll just want to inquire to the artists personally.

Eh I don't really know yet, maybe some event pokes if possible. Just whatever I can barter for, I was gonna put up a thread of art in exchange for pokemon but I dont want to get banned! Soooooo yea I dunno. Also just trying to fill my dex.
 
Oh also, I see what you meant; you want to trade ART for Pokemon, not get artists to draw for you. Yeah, I'd say if you make a thread here, you might want to consider making one in a trading subforum, to actually attract the attention of people who raise/trade Pokemon more often. So in that case you'd want to ask THAT forum.

I've got the event PR Heatran, and an event Jirachi (Used 1 rare candy, unfortunately quirky nature) if that's the kind of stuff you're looking for. I've never traded over wi-fi though...
 
Whether it's allowed to be put into Smeargle's Studio or Wi-fi or whatever I know I'll be getting involved. :B I don't see it anywhere in the rules, so who knows.

Yea just events and stuff like that. Do you wanna do a trade? I'll make a thread shortly. Also how do you post images in those tag things?
 
I've seen it done before, and if people are willing to trade their pokemon or give you credits for a request, then there shouldn't be a problem. I would probably start a thread here, post up some art so that people can get to know your art and styles, then have a link in your signature as a sort of advertisement leading them back here.

You have to upload your images to something like photobucket, get the direct link, click on the little mountain icon and paste onto there.

Oh you gotta connect your ds to wifi, thats in settings I think. Or it be be when you start up pokemon go to wifi settings, enter your wifi WEP key and you're good to go! Then you just take down each other's friend code by putting them into your palpad.

My DS is connected to Wi-Fi, I've just never traded before. I know how to do the friend codes, but then what.
 
I hate to say this would ultimately fail.

People would still prefer just doing a simple request, it's easier and free, though it may take more time because request are usually saturated imagine if there's a sense of rush because of the trade, the art would most likely not live up to it's expectations and people could say stuff like : "this is not what i wanted, i want my pokemon back".
 
I've seen it done before, but there is still the chance that they will indeed reject it. There is nothing stopping you from trying.
