Raichu

I feel that saying "the list of Pokemon who can't outspeed [Liepard] to just Talonflame" implies that Talonflame cannot outspeed - e.x. is slower than - Liepard. Essentially, it means the same thing as "The list of Pokemon who can't outspeed Liepard only includes Talonflame." Using "can" gives us the meaning that Talonflame is capable of outspeeding it. If you don't like it, however, you could put in the sentence you just wrote, saying something along the lines of "Also, Liepard can steal its thunder with its Prankster ability and priority Encores, meaning only a priority Brave Bird from Talonflame outspeeds it." That would be good too :)

I see what you mean. Looking back over it, how it was with "can" seems better

EDIT
Still need another GP check. Could you guys look at it for me please. Is there anyone else I should Tag for GP?

You just tagged all the VGC QC members. GP is entirely different, and please don't tag all the GP members. If you really want one of the GP members to check it, try asking nicely on their wall. :)

Where can I find a list of the GP members? NVM, just found it.

Overview

Raichu is probably one of the best Fake Out users in the game. With the move to Generation VI, Raichu was one of those lucky ones who that got a boost to one of its their stats, and for Raichu, it was given to Speed. With Its new base 110 Speed, (RC) it can allows it to outspeed most of the common Pokemon in the base 100 Speed tier, (RC) and has access to provides it with one of the fastest unboosted Fake Outs in VGC, though slower than Pokemon like Weavile. (comma to period) and is able to use Raichu also has access to Encore, which can lock your opponent into an unfavorable move, (AC) It also has access to as well as other support moves like Nuzzle, (RC) and Charm, and others, to aid allies. Lightning Rod Lightningrod makes your team immune to single-target (add hyphen) Electric-type moves, such as Thunderbolt and, most importantly, Thunder Wave. With Encore, you Raichu can also lock your its opponent into boosting your its Special Attack via Lightningrod. Furthermore, it has access to some decent attacking options, such as Hidden Power Ice, Thunderbolt, and Volt Switch, to name a few, coming off of its decent base 90 Special Attack. However, it misses vital KOs, especially on Garchomp with Hidden Power Ice, and it is pretty frail, so it is probably going to go down to one or two strong hits. Also, it really relies on its Speed to support allies, so if it drops due to Trick Room, Tailwind, Icy Wind, or something similar, it can't function as well. It also faces stiff competition from Pachirisu, which has access to Follow Me to redirect most hits to it and has better bulk, and Manectric, which can actually do something with the redirected Electric-type moves, (RC) and, with its higher Special Attack stat, can (redundant) actually have has a chance to KO Garchomp. Also, Liepard can steal its thunder with access to priority Encore, limiting the list of Pokemon that can outspeed it to just Talonflame. Still, if you want something that can turn games around by itself, look no further than Raichu. (contentless, generic closures should be avoided)

Moves
========

The main niche with Raichu is that its blinding base 110 Speed lets it use Fake Out before most other common Fake Out users. With its fast Fake Out, it can force the opponent into a hard decision, because a Fake Out lets Raichu's ally use an attack that could threaten your opponent. Thunderbolt is a strong STAB move that makes use of those Lightning Rod Lightningrod boosts, whilst Volt Switch gives a bit of flow to your team, allowing you to shuffle around and switch your Pokemon with ease, all while keeping your momentum. If Raichu is on a weather-based team, Volt Switch should be your main choice, as your weather could be canceled cancelled while your setter and Raichu are out: (colon) in this case, just switch your setter out and Volt Switch it back in again to bring your weather back. This can catch opponents off-guard: (colon) for example, bringing back rain while a Mega Charizard Y is in severely reduces its power. The final move is a toss-up. Protect stalls out a weather or Perish Song turn or lets your ally clear out a threat. Hidden Power Ice gives Raichu the amazing BoltBeam coverage, letting it 2HKO Garchomp and hit other Ground-types hard.

Set Details
========

The EV spread is simple. 36 HP EVs allow Raichu to live Adamant Mega Kangaskhan's Sucker Punch, (AC) and while maximum Speed investment is used to get off your Raichu's attacks as early as possible. The remaining EVs are put in Special Attack for maximizing in order to maximize damage output, as you Raichu will most likely run a Focus Sash, (RC) and aren't isn't really bothered by most strong attacks. The Focus Sash can let you Raichu live through moves, (RC) such as Garchomp's Earthquake, and allowing it to KO the opponent next turn. Lightning Rod Lightningrod (fsr we're still using the old spelling for this one) is the best ability by far, letting you Raichu redirect all Electric-type moves and gain a Special Attack boost. (comma to period) and, When coupled with a fast Encore, this can become make Raichu difficult for enemy Rotom and Zapdos to deal with. On a side note, if you use Hidden Power Ice, use the 31/2/30/31/31/31(why no 0 in atk?) IV spread, as this lets you Raichu keep your its Speed at the highest whilst still getting Hidden Power Ice.

Usage Tips
========

A very aggressive playstyle best fits this Raichu's role. You have to keep up the pressure on your opponent; if an opening is available, take it. Otherwise, it can lose games for you. For example: if your opponent threatens to use an Electric-type move, switch Raichu in safely; if a Garchomp Substitutes against you uses Substitute, Encore it. With high pressure tactics, you keep your opponent on their feet, and you can control the game.

Team Options
========

Perish Trap Mega Gengar is a brilliant partner when Raichu carries Volt Switch. If Gengar set up uses Perish Song, (RC) and proceeds to switch out, then Raichu can use Volt Switch to bring Gengar back in. You can also run Raichu with a Disable user. This, in conjunction with Raichu's Encore, causes your opponent to Struggle, (RC) and lose 25% of it’s its HP per turn if they hit. Again, Mega Gengar is a suitable user of this move due to its Speed and ability, (RC) Shadow Tag, that traps struggling opponents (if you expect the reader to be familiar with PerishTrap MegaGar, you can expect them to know what STag does). Even if Raichu just Encores an opponent into using Electric-type moves, Mega Gengar traps it in, forcing it to continue boosting Raichu's Special Attack stat. It can be one of the most destructive combinations out there. In addition, rain teams love Raichu around, because you can lead with it and another ally, (RC) then and proceed to Volt Switch into Politoed to set up rain. In addition, Electric-type moves can be redirected to Raichu, meaning that Water-types such as Azumarill, (RC) won't have to fear Electric-type moves those. Water-types also resist Ground-types, (no they don't? don't you mean 'hit Ground-types super effectively'?) which are one of the biggest threats to Raichu.
Other Options
#########

Nuzzle can be used on a more supportive set to spread around paralysis; (SC) however, Pokemon such as Pachirisu are better at doing the job this. Thunder Wave is also an alternative to this, as Nuzzle can break your Raichu's Focus Sash when you hit hitting Pokemon such as Ferrothorn and those that carry Rocky Helmet users. Using Fling while holding a King's Rock can be used in tandem with King's Rock to get an extra flinch; (SC) and, with its base 110 Speed, Raichu's base 110 Speed can allows it to hit most Pokemon before they attack, acting making it act like a second Fake Out. However, you do sacrifice your Focus Sash for the extra flinch. Feint is a nice support move that lets you break Protect so an ally can hit and KO an opponent. It can also finish off an opponent with low HP, (RC) and even make it so that an opponent's opposing Pokemon that Protects itself from its ally's spread move is still hit; an example being is Garchomp using Earthquake alongside a Tyranitar. Charm lets Raichu soften physical hits for its allies and itself, since -2 Attack is devastating for most physical attackers, and can then let Raichu's allies set up and cause havoc. Tickle is like Charm, but it lowers the opponent's Defense, (RC) too, allowing your physical attackers to do more damage. Safety Goggles can let you hit around Rage Powder with Thunderbolt and Encore. This is useful for attacking Pokemon like such as Azumarill, which often hide behind Amoonguss, and lets you deal with them.

Checks & Counters
########

**Speed**: Pokemon that can naturally outspeed Raichu are probably the best at countering it, Aerodactyl being the best in this regard. It can use Protect against Fake Out, (RC) then and proceed to use Rock Slide without having to worry about Encore. Even some Aerodactyl run Taunt, so they can shut Raichu down.

**Ground-types**: Ground-types are large threats to Raichu, and without Hidden Power Ice, Raichu is helpless. Garchomp and Mamoswine are the best Ground-types used to tackle Raichu because of their high stats. Marowak gets an honorable mention due to it being able its ability to redirect Raichu's own Electric-type moves for its allies with its own Lightningrod and use Bonemerang to KO Raichu, (RC) even hitting through its Focus Sash.

**Pokemon Immune to Electric-type moves Immunities**: Pokemon with an Electric-type immunities immunity completely defeat Raichu. Volt Absorb and Lightning Rod Lightningrod users, such as Manectric and Pachirisu, can break Raichu's momentum and cause havoc, and in Pachirisu's case, even redirect Encore. If Manectric Mega Evolves, it will still beat Raichu one on one, but it will not be able to freely use its STAB moves. (it can't do this either if it doesn't Mega Evolve; don't you mean 'it will not be able to redirect Raichu's STAB moves'?)

**Taunt**: Taunt is a key threat, as it shuts down Raichu's main support moves, making it so Raichu loses its momentum and either needs to switch or attack. Be wary of Volt Switch, however, which allows Raichu to quickly and seamlessly escape without losing momentum.

Pros:
  • At base 110 speed, it has one of the fastest fake outs in the metagame.
  • Lightning Rod lets it redirect electric type moves and boost it's special attack
  • Makes your team mate immune to thunder wave
  • Has encore to lock pokemon into non-useful moves i.e. protect, fake out, set up moves, any electric moves (due to lightning rod)
  • Has access to a good amount of support moves.
  • Has a decent special attack, and can use moves like thunderbolt and hidden power ice to cause some damage to enemies.
Cons:
  • Frail. Most pokemon can get the OHKO on it.
  • It's special attack isn't too special, so it misses out OHKOs on talonflame, garchomp, most rain pokemon
  • While it is fast, it isn't the fastest pokemon out there. Without it's speed, raichu is helpless, so stuff like trick room can cause havoc for raichu
  • Manectic and pachirisu give it stiff competition in electric move redirection. Manecrtic has a good offensive pressure with it's mega, whist pachirisu has follow me to actually redirect all attacks, not just electric attacks.

  • Max speed is to get off your attacks as early as possible

  • Lightning Rod is the best ability by far, giving you the ability to redirect all electric moves and gain a special attack boost.
  • If you are to use hidden power ice, use the 31/Even/30/31/31/31 spread. This lets you keep your speed at the highest whilst still getting hidden power ice.
Usage Tips
========

  • A very aggressive play style fits this raichu's role. You have to keep up the pressure of shutting down your opponent. If an opening is available, take it. Otherwise it can lose games for you. With high pressure tactics, you keep your opponent on their feet, and you control the game.
Team Options

  • With volt switch, perish trap Mega gengar is a brilliant partner. It can let gengar set up perish song, and then you can switch out gengar to another pokemon and volt switch back into gengar.

  • Rain teams love raichu. With access to fake out and volt switch, you can lead raichu with another ally, and then volt switch into politoed, to bring the rain, whilst electric type moves are redirected to raichu, meaning that rotoms have to use their less accurate STAB move to hit with.

  • Ground pokemon: Without hidden power ice, raichu is helpless. Garchomp and Mamoswine are among the worst, due to their high usage, and their devastation. Marowak gets an honorable mention due to it being able to redirect electric moves for it's allies, and can bonemerang you to death.
  • Pokemon with electric immunities in total defeat raichu. Volt absorb and lightning rod users can break raichu's momentum and cause havoc, with pachirisu and marowak having the ability to redirect the electric type moves (and in pachirisu's case, encore too). You have manectric, but if it mega evolves, it will still beat you one on one, but you prevent it using it's STAB.
  • Aerodactyl and other very fast pokemon can protect and then attack without having to worry about encore. Even some aerodactyl run taunt, so it can shut raichu down.
  • Taunt is a big pain. It shuts down raichu's main support moves, so you need to either switch, or attack, which causes momentum to be lost.

I have made the changes.
About the water types resisting ground, I did mean hitting for super effective damage. Will change that.
About the last comment, about not being able to use STABs, I was referring to Raichu's Lightning Rod making Manectric unable to use it's STAB electric moves.

As a side note:
I'm changing the 36HP EVs to 28HP/4Def/4SpD. This gives it slightly more bulk, while surviving the kanga sucker punch. The following changes to the text would need quickly checking:

evs: 28 HP / 4Def / 220 SpA / 4SpD / 252 Spe <- The format should be correct

"36 HP EVs allow Raichu to live Adamant Mega Kangaskhan's Sucker Punch" -> "28 HP EVs and 4 Def EVs allow Raichu to live Adamant Mega Kangaskhan's Sucker Punch"

That's all that needs checking.

I understood that, but whether or not Manectric Mega Evolves, it will not be able to use its STAB moves because Raichu's Lightningrod absorbs them either way; what you wrote seemingly implied that Mega Evolving Manectric is what makes it unable to hit Raichu with its STAB moves. Because you coordinated the sentence using 'but', you put the second and third part on equal footing, making the sentence structure call for a reading like:
'Manectric Mega Evolves' -> 'Manectric will beat Raichu one-on-one
'Manectric Mega Evolves' -> 'Manectric will not be able to freely use its STAB moves (i.e. this seeming cause-consequence implies that it will be able to do so before MEvolving)
can't explain this better without getting obnoxiously technical lol
I think 'Even if Manectric Mega Evolves, it will still beat Raichu one-on-one, despite being unable to freely use its STAB moves.' best conveys what you want to say (removes the sentence structure problem pointed out above, and yes I forgot those hyphens in my check lol). If you're fine with this change, you can just c/p this sentence.

evs: 28 HP / 4Def / 220 SpA / 4SpD / 252 Spe <- The format should be correct
put a space after the numbers (i.e. 4Def -> 4 Def and 4SpD -> 4 SpD)

"36 HP EVs allow Raichu to live Adamant Mega Kangaskhan's Sucker Punch" -> "28 HP EVs and 4 Def EVs allow Raichu to live Adamant Mega Kangaskhan's Sucker Punch".
fine
