Raikou (Attacking Lead)

I'm just curious as to what secondary SR setter-upper you think would work best with this? I'm thinking Gliscor/Skarmory, since both can set up on those Flygons that come in.

Personally I've been using Bronzong. Gives 0 shits about Flygon, switches into Pert, and also checks some other nifty shit that I can't deal with.

Comparing a lead set and a sweeping set of a pokemon isnt really a good idea. This raikou is capable of leading while providing some use midgame. The other Raikou sets have different goals.

Hmm, how much does jolly CB azelf's ZH and Lead Aero's EQ (i know you already said it doesn't OHKO but a figure would be nice) do to raikou? I'm a bit wary at the moment because although you beat the leads mentioned, you hardly beat them with the amount of damage they do in return.

In your own words:
I question this set's efficacy as an "attacking lead", simply because the point of attacking leads is to be overwhelmingly threatening *after* it KOs the opposing lead. Any old Pokemon can throw some attacking moves together, but the key is throwing said moves together and then still being threatening afterward.
If you are pretty much dead after defeating the attacking lead then you are not "threatening afterward".

Consider that if Aero even attacks you, you have succeded. It has not and will not get Stealth Rock up. The amount of damage that Lead Aero's EQ does is entirely irrelevant if it does not OHKO because you are up 6-5 and the opponent doesn't have SR, making Raikou entirely threatening later on in the game. Still, for humor's sake... 73.9% - 87.6%. That's Lead Aerodactyl's Earthquake against this Raikou.

CB Azelf is more likely to simply explode on Raikou rather than Zen Headbutt it, but even if it does, it's dealing 74.8% - 88.5%. Also consider that Stealth Rock isn't up, and again, this Raikou is not using Life Orb, so "it's not over until it's over".

In a game where the "critical existence failure" is the rule (performance does not decrease as HP decreases), and Raikou isn't using a Life Orb, Raikou can technically sweep as long as it has at least 1 HP (and sandstorm isn't up), and it still hits like a truck even if it's low on HP. From my testing, even after it's taken some retarded attack, it can still come back later in the game and put the hurt on stuff.

It took me a while to think this over, but I finally made my decision.

...lol we're getting lazy with these "stamps" xD

I changed this to Copyediting, but likelihood is I'll just roll this thread into the larger Raikou revamp that I've taken over, so I'll probably get in touch with a mod for that. I do like having awesome sets go on-site faster when Revamps are being worked on, so I might just leave this here.

Damn, beat me to actually making and testing this set. I have had this idea for a while, just never got around to test it.

I've used this set to great success. This thing is still threatenng even midgame. Although against Lead Machamp, it can actually useZap Cannon Thanks to No Guard. But again, that's situational. An excellent set.
