On to the actual suggestion: why not use Latias over Latios?

The spread is somewhat bulky, and you talk about setting up while absorbing hits, so why not use Latias as a more efficient alternative to achieve what I feel your currently trying to achieve?

Or is that -20 in Sp.A going to hurt you?

I tried out Latias > Latios, and Latias really misses out on key KOs without Calm Minds under her belt.
