Team Building:
So I wanted a rain team to help try out Politoed and yah obviously I’m going to go with Politoed, because permanent rain!
Politoed

While battling I found this amazing rain abuser. He’s so awesome in the rain I couldn’t resist.
Vaporeon:

Who else abuses the rain? Gastrodon! This guys a real pain. He takes water moves and stops electric moves. He’s pretty bulky and just a nice addition to my team.
Gastrodon:

So it seems as though I need a defensive wall. This guys a beastly mon too when it comes to being in the rain. It gets rid of his fire weakness leaving him only weak to electric (which Gastrodon and Dugtrio can take care of).
Skarmory:
227.gif

This guy is a pretty cool mon when paired up with Dugtrio. He’s bulky yet can still deal damage.
Celebi:

This guy may be frail but he’s pretty awesome. He can really deal some nice damage and totally screw around with people.

Detailed Pokemon:
Politoed – Toadette
186.gif

Ability: Drizzle (durr)
Nature: Calm
Item: Leftovers
EV Spread: 252HP/4SPATK/252SPDEF
Moves:
-Icebeam
-Scald
-Hypnosis
-Protect
SYNERGY:
ELECTRIC – Switch to either Dugtrio or Gastrodon
GRASS – Switch to Celebi or Skarmory(preferred)
Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain. That pretty much describes what Politoed does. He puts up the rain. He’s got Scald for a STAB and hoping for the burn, then Ice Beam just for coverage. He’s got Hypnosis for those guys who just get me mad, and need to take a nap. Then lastly he has Protect. It’s for gaining up on the lefties on and scouting.

Vaporeon – Atlantis
134.gif

Ability: Hydration
Nature: Calm
Item: Leftovers
EV Spread: 252HP/4SPATK/252SPDEF
Moves:
-Rest
-Scald
-Wish
-Roar
SYNERGY:
ELECTRIC – Switch to either Dugtrio or Gastrodon
GRASS – Switch to Celebi or Skarmory(preferred)
Well, well, well. What do we have here? A freakin beast that’s what! This guy is ridiculous fearing only electricity (and he doesn’t like grass much either). He has rest because why the heck not. It gives you back full health and at no cost. Hydration helps him to recover from annoying status problems and those who try to stall it out. Then we have Wish. This is basically just for HP passing to other pokes. Roar is to take advantage of entry hazards and to stop pokes from setting up on him. Also he has Scald. With STAB and in rain with a chance of burn for crippling and residual damage it seems like the best choice.

Gastrodon – Escarslow
423.gif

Ability: Storm Drain
Nature: Modest
Item: Leftovers
EV Spread: 252HP/216DEF/40SPATK
Moves:
-Recover
-Scald
-Earth Power
-Toxic
SYNERGY:
GRASS – Switch to Celebi or Skarmory(preferred)
You think you can just spam those electric and water moves in my rain? Well not anymore! Storm drain is for the counter to the obvious spamming of water moves while giving me a SPATK boost. Recover is for what the name of the move is (recovering -.-). Earth Power is for coverage. Scald is STAB rain boosted and chance of statusing, and Toxic is for SPATKers who don’t fear burn.

Skarmory - ISkarly
227.gif

Ability: Sturdy
Nature: Impish
Item: Leftovers
EV Spread: 252HP/252DEF/4SPDEF
Moves:
-Brave Bird
-Roost
-Spikes
-Whirlwind
SYNERGY:
ELECTRIC – Switch to either Dugtrio or Gastrodon
With only one weakness and bulky defense Skarmory is a beast. He runs in and sets up his spikes (used well with Vaporeon’s Roar) and just takes hits like a boss. Then we have Whirlwind. It’s just to take advantage of entry hazards and to not allow pokes to set up on me. Then there’s Roost, just an obvious, reliable recovery move. And lastly there’s Brave Bird for some damage racking up.

Celebi - Shrimply
251.gif

Ability: Natural Cure
Nature: Rash
Item: Leftovers
EV Spread: 228HP/136SPATK/144SPEED
Moves:
-U-Turn
-Perish Song
-Leaf Storm
-Thunder Wave
SYNERGY:
ICE – Go into any water pokemon (Gastrodo/ Politoed/Vaporeon) they all take it well
POISON – Go into Skarmory
FLYING – Go into Skarmory
BUG – Go into Skarmory
GHOST – Go into Skarmory
DARK – Go into Skarmory
This poke may have many weaknesses but it’s still great. It’s even better when paired with Dugtrio who has Arena Trap. Natural cure works well with U-Turn. We have Leaf Storm for some amazing STAB damage and T-Wave for some crippling (if they’re not already). Then we have the real reason Celebi’s here. Perish Song and U-Turn combined with Arena Trap Dugtrio is beastly. It usually works out great, and very unexpected.

Dugtrio – 3-way (P.S. I thought I’d mention that I didn’t name him this)
051.gif

Ability: Arena Trap
Nature: Jolly
Item: Life Orb
EV Spread: 4HP/252ATK/252SPEED
Moves:
-Earthquake
-Stealth Rocks
-Protect
-Sucker Punch
SYNERGY:
GRASS – Switch to Celebi or Skarmory(preferred)
WATER – Go into Gastrodon but if he’s not alive go into Politoed or Vaporeon
ICE – Go into any water pokemon (Gastrodo/ Politoed/Vaporeon) they all take it well
This guy is a little frail but he’s a great addition to my team. He has Arena Trap for being awesome, but really for Choiced Electric pokes who own my team. He’s got Jolly for some extra speed and Life Orb for a bit more power. Earthquake is for STAB and will be his main attacking move. Sucker Punch is for those guys who I know are faster and can OHKO me. Stealth rocks are for incase he does get best case scenario and gets put with a Choiced Electric. Protect may seem weird on him but it’s to start racking up the Perish Song counts.

Threat List:
• Ferrothorn - can be a real bugger. I have dealt with it before by using EQ from Dugtrio and Scald Stall it with Vaporeon. But a smartly played Ferrothorn could cause some serious trouble.

So yeah, that’s my team and I hope you liked my RMT. It’s mainly bulky (advice from a wise friend [Stone_Cold]) with some stall but it’s got a little bit of offense in there too. :D

Very nice team. I like the idea of perish song then u-turn into dugtrio, then stall for the ko. Although dugtrio is a pretty frail poke who might die quickly to a neutral hit before the turns elapse. I was thinking of a grass poke sweeping the team, but as long as you keep celebi or skarmory healthy that should be too much of a problem. 4 stars for sure :)

I think you should give Politoed Focus Blast over Hypnosis. It can help take care of Ferrothorn plus Hypnosis has horrible accuracy and then makes Scald pointless if the mon is already asleep. Hope this helps!

For clarification, is this a Dream World team? It says Dream World in the tags, but you don't seem to have any DW pokes on it.

That's something different entirely. Having pokemon with Dream World abilities doesn't mke it a Dream World team. Dream World is a special tier in which you can use pokemon, items and abilites that haven't been released for standard OU yet, like the Genesect, pinch berries and Shadow Tag Chandelure. Some pokemon that are banned in standard OU are also legal, such as Garchomp and Excadrill. Vaporeon and Politoed do have Dream World abilities, yes, but their abilites are released for standard OU, so this is not a Dream World team.

This is a Dream World team.

I know for a fact that it is possible to change it, but I don't know how, as I've never tried. I'll mess around with one of my old threads and see if I can figure out how, or maybe some other kind user will post that information.

Checking over the team right now. Seems pretty good, but I only just skimmed over it.

Also, to change the tag on the thread, go to the OP and Edit -> Go Advanced.

Alright, I looked over the team and saw a few changes you could make.

Politoed: I suggest changing your EV spread to 252 HP/4 SpA/252 SpD. This maximizes special bulk, and Politoed doesn't need much physical bulk if it has Scald to burn the opposing Pokemon. I also suggest that you keep Hypnosis. Focus Blast only does 39.77% - 47.16% to Physically Defensive Ferrothorn, and Ferrothorn can 2HKO back with Power Whip, so Politoed isn't going to be doing much.

Vaporeon: Again, I suggest changing your EV spread to 252 HP/4 SpA/252 SpD, as it maximizes special bulk, and Vaporeon can burn physical attackers with Scald. I also think you should put Wish over Aqua Ring. Aqua Ring doesn't heal much anyway, and Wish can let you heal your teammates as well, which is always a plus.

Gastrodon: Your EVs could be optimized. Change the spread to 252 HP/216 Def/40 SpA, and give it a Modest nature. The EVs and nature give it the same HP and Def, and increase Gastrodon's SpA by 3 points. Moves seem good.

Skarmory: It's good.

Celebi: Another Pokemon whose EVs could be optimized. Change the spread to 228 HP/136 SpA/144 Spe with a Rash nature. This keeps Celebi's HP the same, but gives it 1 more point in SpA and 2 more points in Spe. Again, the moves seem good.

Dugtrio: Again, this seems good.

Hope this helps! I'm not very good at noticed weaknesses to certain Pokemon, so you may need help from others on that part. Good luck with your team!
