Rainy Day BW2

Any suggestions and criticism is appreciated

Politoed

Drizzle
Modest @ Choice Specs

4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Hydro Pump
Focus Blast
Ice Beam
Hidden Power (Grass

I wanted a powerful SpA user without compromising my Volt-Turn combo, so Specs Politoed became my target. Politoed has some massive power as a Specs user. The double STAB Hydro Pump does terrifying damage and is a pain to switch into. We then have the basic coverage of Focus Blast for Ferrothorn, Ice Beam for Dragons, and HP Grass for Gastrodon/Quagsire and fellow Water types.

Haxorus

Mold Breaker
Jolly @ Lum Berry

4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

Outrage
Dragon Dance
Aqua Tail
Earthquake

The introduction of Aqua Tail gave Haxorus a solid coverage move with pseudo STAB because of rain. Haxorus runs a physical sweep set and can hit everything for at least neutral. I chose Haxorus over Dragonite for its better Spe and Atk which can win against a Dragonite if both are unboosted.

Tentacruel

Rain Dish
Bold @ Black Sludge
252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe

Toxic Spikes
Protect
Scald
Rapid Spin

Tentacruel provides great bulk, fantastic regen, absorbs Toxic Spikes, and has Rapid Spin. It can be very difficult to take down Tentacruel, even with super effective damge. The rain + Rain Dish + Leftovers + Protect on top of it bulk makes for an amazing tank. Also Scald is surprisingly strong in rain and the possible Burn for Toxic immune types is nice

Ferrothorn

Iron Barbs
Relaxed @ Rocky Helmet

252 HP / 88 Def / 168 Spd

Stealth Rock
Protect
Power Whip
Leech Seed

Ferrothorn easily allows me to win entry hazard battles thanks to its Iron Barbs with Rocky Helmet. The damage caused by these prevents units from constantly Rapid Spinning and allows me to keep Stealth Rocks much more easily and punish the Rapid Spinner. Power Whip is effective for opposing weather teams and Leech Seed + Protect applies a lot of pressure due to Ferrothorns bulk

Thundurus-T

Volt Absorb
Timid @ Choice Scarf

4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Thunder
Volt Switch
Focus Blast
Hidden Power (Ice)

Thundurus-T is my Volt in Volt-Turn. The incredible power Thundurus-T has makes it easy to run a Choice Scarf set without having to worry about losing power. He doesn’t counter opposing Volt-Turn as well as Rotom-W, but his overall power and coverage makes him more threatening in my eyes. Thunder is very powerful and appreciates the rain support. Focus Blast helps it muscle past Ferrothorn and “The Blobs” while Hidden Power (Ice) helps with Dragon and Ground types.

Scizor

Technician
Adament @ Choice Band

244 HP / 252 Atk / 12 Spe

Bullet Punch
U-Turn
Superpower
Pursuit

Scizor is the obvious Turn in Volt-Turn. There is much to say about this set that hasn’t already been said. Bullet Punch is amazing priority thanks to STAB + Technician, U-Turn does amazing chip and allows momentum, Superpower for coverage against Steel types, and Pursuit for the Latis and fleeing units.

Hi there!

This is a well built Rain Team you have here, and I really wouldn't change any of your team members as this may potentially damage the synergy you have here, however I do think you could modify some of your sets to help your team out a little against the mons that pose the biggest threat to your team. I do feel you will have a lot of trouble with the genies, as they do pose a massive threat to your team, namely Tornadus-T and Thundurus-T. Tornadus-T OHKOs a lot of your team members with prior damage, and your main check in Thundurus can only come in on a free switch, usually when something has been KO'd by Tornadus, not to mention you're also Scarfed, so a good player will switch out when you bring in Thundurus on Tornadus and choose to preserve their Tornadus. Thundurus on the other hand can spam Thunders once your own Thundurus is gone, with your resists in Haxorus and Ferrothorn who are both dealt with by a following Hidden Power [Ice] and Focus Blast respectively. For these reasons, I do think you should change try a Specially Defensive Jirachi over your current Ferrothorn. Jirachi provides you with a great answer to Tornadus-T, while also checking Thundurus-T. Jirachi also provides you with great Wish Support to help Thundurus, as you may always have trouble spinning on a team when your spinner is weak to electric type moves. By choosing Jirachi over Ferrothorn, you don't really lose a whole lot. Jirachi has reliable recovery, Stealth Rock and can paralyze many common threats to your team including the aforementioned genies, something that your current Ferrothorn fails to do. Additionally, you gain an answer to the Lati twins, putting less pressure on your Scizor to deal with them.

If you do choose to go with the Jirachi > Ferrothorn change, you will find that you can support Thundurus a lot easier, who does seem to be your primary sweeper. I do think you could try an Agility Thundurus over your current set. Agility Thundurus is a much more potent threat than your current Choice Scarf set. Given that Thundurus already forces a lot of switches, you will have no problem setting up an Agility. It also means that you are not locked into an Electric type move, baiting in common switches such as Mamoswine and Jolteon, both who of which are rising in usage due to Rain Teams and both look very threatening to your team. Agility Thundurus takes advantage of the Rapid Spin support you provide, as well as outspeeding more after an Agility than your Choice Scarf set. Most importantly, it grants you a lot more freedom in your choice of moves, allowing you to hit common Thundurus switch-ins while retaining great coverage.

As a result of losing your Choice Scarfer, you might have trouble revenging common threats, such as Volcarona, Dragonite, Salamence and various other mons at +1. For these reasons, I do think you could try a Choice Scarf Politoed over your current Choice Specs set. Although Choice Specs does hit like a truck, you already have this covered by Scizor, Haxorus and Thundurus, all of which boast more offensive power than Politoed. On the other hand, Choice Scarf Politoed allows you to revenge many of the threats I mentioned previously, as well as stopping them setting up with Perish Song. This restricts how long your opponent's Pokemon will stay around and in turn can grant you free switch-ins and set up turns for Thundurus / Haxorus, both of which really only need one turn of setup before they can wreck havoc on the opponent. In combination with Scizor's very useful priority, it gives you extra insurance against opposing scarfers / stat boosters, both of which look pretty troublesome given the offensive nature of your team.

Finally, I suggest you change your Scizor's EV spread to 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Speed. This spread will allow you to speed tie with other Choice Band Scizors. This is good because you do not want to be winning the speed tie against other Scizors, this means your U-Turn is faster than theirs, and they get the switch initiative. This can often put you in a bad situation, especially if you haven't had time to Rapid Spin with Tentacruel.

Cool team, hope I helped!

Thanks so much you two. You both have been very informative.

@Electrolyte-Thank you for bringing up Jolteon and Amoonguss as threats for I haven't really seen them against me. Magnezone hasn't been much of a threat thanks to prediction, nor Mamoswine. Leech Seed + Protect and Superpower on switch in handle Magnezone very well. Last time I fought Magnezone, HP fire didn't KO Ferrothorn in rain. Focus Blast takes care of Mamoswine on switch-in. I will update add more details on the RMT per your suggestion

@Jimbon-I will definitely be trying all your suggestions when I get the chance. The Jirachi is an excellent idea and will try out the other variations for the other Pokes with Jirachi. This will take care of my Toxicroak fears quite nicely. P.S. Love you sig for some reason. They got me gapping my mouth like them >.>

Just a very small suggestion, put Black Sludge on Tentacruel. It may not come up often, but it's quite satisfying when someone steals it with Trick
