RBTT Random Battles Team Tournament 5 - Commencement Thread

Congratulations to all the teams that have made playoffs and to the teams that were in contention until the very last couple days! This RBTT has, by far, is the most modern in terms of playing and drafting, and the fact that all of the teams could make playoffs in the last week is plenty proof of that! I'm looking forward to seeing the direction future RBTTs take.
While we're on the topic of modernity...I would like to propose that tiebreaks are changed to being 5 series rather than 3 with the first tier being Gen 8 Random Battle, lower seed picking two tiers and then higher seed picking two tiers. No repeats, except for Gen 8 Random Battles, which can be repeated one (1) time.
Many of the reasons that the SPL (the tournament RBTT is based off of, evidenced by the references to it within the OP of each week and the usage of SPL activity win eligibility guidelines) tiebreakers are 3 series don't apply to rands. There aren't 15 different people trying to build the craziest team, there aren't squads of people scouting to see if their opponent exhales on Turn 2 instead of Turn 3, rands tends to be easier to schedule than Gen 9 OU, etc...
On the flip side, the nature of Rands lends itself well to having 5 series. I don't think it's top secret that rands has a lot to do with whether the wind is blowing in your direction or not (and if you disagree, I'm sure there are plenty of fine people on Team Rayquaza that would Change Your Mind Steven Crowder style). Increasing to 5 series should theoretically mitigate the impact of this luck while also rewarding teams that drafted intelligently and got more starpower on their teams.
At the same time, 5 series is still small enough a number to prioritize the top talent of a team as opposed to focusing on overall depth like a regular week. It's 5/15 of the best players on a team vs 5/15 of the best players on the other team; this is a reasonable amount.
I don't think I need to say much about how the spectators would enjoy more series across a more diverse set of tiers.

Hey, thought I'd drop by for some quick shoutouts.
Random Battles is a beautiful community, I've considering myself to be lucky to be a part of it. I have always been a big fan of this tour, as I saw it as an opportunity to meet and work with people I have never interacted with before. When I first signed up to manage, I didnt even have a strong urge to manage and I specified I'd filler the role of co-manager in case we lacked manager signups. We got stuck at 15 and I agreed to manage with jasprose . Thank you for the ride bro, was a fun 9 weeks and I enjoyed working with you. If we're both around next year we may even go for a streak, who knows.

This was my first time managing in RBTT, and while it hurts a ton to have come so far and fall short right at the end; it has definitely been one of the most fun experiences in my pokemon career. I've said it before and I'll say it again, being a non playing manager is the best of times and the worst of times; with won matches and weeks giving you the highest highs as you feel immense pride at your teams prowess while losses are the lowest lows as you feel helpless and unable to do anything but say "we'll get em next time".
Thankfully I was blessed with the most amazing co-manager RSB who kept me grounded and kept my spirits up during the entire tour, I love you fam <3
