Wiki says
The Reading and Leeds Festivals, officially called the Carling Weekend, are a pair of annual music festivals that take place in Reading and Leeds in England. The events both happen on the bank holiday weekend in August (on Friday, Saturday, Sunday), and share the same bill (usually with one or two exceptions.)

They used to be strongly folk-oriented festivals, now more rock/alternative/indie/punk/metal. The festival will typically have the following stages:-

* Main stage - major rock/indie/alternative acts
* NME/Radio 1 stage - less well known acts
* Carling stage - acts with less popular appeal and breakthrough acts
* Radio 1 Lock Up Stage - underground punk/hardcore acts. Due to demand, this took up 2 days in 2006, as opposed to 1 day in previous years. Will return with a new name in 2007 (possibly returning to previous name, "Concrete Jungle") due to the end of the Radio 1 "Lock Up" show.

Hmm, emo overdose. Not a brilliant lineup but I spy some talent at least. The Pumpkins, Arcade Fire, the Shins, GCWCF, Enter Shikari, The Hold Steady quite a few underground UK indie bands on the Carling and NME/Radio 1 stages, and the Lock Up is always awesome.

Me and Dan Dan went last year and as far as I know he is also planning to go this year. Is any one else?

the horrors holy fuck holy fuck holy fuck

otherwise its kinda meh, i always wanted to se get cape war cape fly though

oh and i like the hold steady a lot!!

Im not going this year, the lineup doesnt appeal enough to me to spen £150+ on a ticket...last year was fucking ace though, still can't believe we missed each other alex xD

edit - upon closer inspecation: I might go, I didn't see that Hadouken!, Brand New, Hot Hot Heat, and Enter Shikari! among other cool bands were playing...still I'm pretty skint atm and I doubt I'll be able to get a ticket in time =[

Bands I'd want to see:

Interpol
Arcade Fire
Bloc Party
Eagles of Death Metal (comedy option)
SP/NIN (as long as they don't play anything recorded after 2000)
Brand New
Sparta (these days I think they're better than The Mars Volta)
Dinosaur Jr (FUCK YOU CLOUD)
The Hold Steady
Silversun Pickups

5 days actually (assuming you are hardcore and arrive wednesday)

but as long as there are a few decent bands it is always worth going, you only end up seeing 10 or so shows anyway due to sex drugs and laziness
