N has significant weaknesses to ground, bringing fidgit and groudon as my strong ground pokemon.
Fidgit can answer rocks which is one of the threats zekrom brings.
Groudon is huge and also can answer ferrathorn with pseudo fire hybrid typing.
Archaludon can fight all the pokemon that do not lose to ground types

you get a very large backpack for pinacles and some foreknowledge of what the opponent might bring, this makes it a good place for gems.
That said despite having this much backpack space I forgot to bring power belt for archaludon, whoops

Battle Start
Zekrom, ferrathorn, sigilph huh. Seems ok, I don't think it is a particularly good or bad roll, but I am also not sure if I was afraid of anything in particular.
My stealth rocks are de-emphasized due to 2 opponents with defog, especially when one of them gets magic guard. I would still prefer not to play under stealth rock effect though so fidgit has some work to do there. I suppose all my mon actually have rock resist which is cool

I think my ideal mu's are fidgit -> zekrom, groudon -> ferrathorn, archaludon -> sigilph, but as long as fidgit can dodge sigilph none of the match up's are that bad. even fidgit vs sigilph might not be too bad since I can put up a light screen.

1 of my tech is committed to being groudon, fidgit has dynamax access.
Round 1
Tricky round. I know I want fidgit out as a way to deal with any rock set up and because they are relatively at their best vs zekrom, but enigma berry hurts as an answer to frisk.

the main lines I am trying to avoid are something like rocks + phase me, magnet rise + dragons dance changing speed and also giving me a must answer problem in hovering, zekrom gaining an entire turn of tempo with enigma berry then skipping 2 other actions with chicken dances.

ended up with some complicated orders that honestly are not insane into any of the lines, but the rest seems like it would have been worse into one of them.

I am curious how Keriel evaluates instructing groudon with busted moves. is that worth protecting so that earthquake runs into enigma berry?

either way this should be the toughest mu so we will just have to see how it goes.
I think I intend to stay in pretty much no matter what happens next round, though I guess if zekrom just trades a bunch of damage then swaps to sigilyph I might have to consider counter swapping instead.

Round 2
I spent so long deciding if I should swap or not here. My game plan going into this battle was counter swapping with groudon + fire gem and just evaporating my opponent, but with weakness policy and just clicking endure I think ferrathorn can get a far better trade than I initially expected. The fact that endure turns off sunny day and fire gem means ferrathorn can realistically just click it and not really care if I subbed.

New plan is see what fidgit can get done and maybe try to set up a 2 shot with choice band or heavy duty boots (to stop the iron barbs).

If I can set up round 3 properly swapping into choice band groudon could be huge. Does over 40 damage to ferrathorn with heat crash if he stays and has to deal with second order choice band if he leaves

Ok so after seeing Keriel's orders there were broaldy 3 lines

acid spray x 3 and try to trade out, but that lets leech seed and steatlh rock resolve, both of which are somewhat nonsense value.

bounce ~ skill swap ~ knock off, letting him resolve ingrain and then locking him into a fight with choice band groudon

entrainment + embargo ~ healing wish, locking him into the groudon battle with "pivoting" and breaking his first 2 actions with healing wish (leech seed ~ gyro ball)
went with the third one, the ability to skip 2 of his actions is too good to pass up.

it is unlikely to manage since knock off stops the kill, but hopefully it should completely cripple ferrathorn before that happens, and if protects happen I can get my actions back. +4 atk stage groudon perhaps, or block to keep ferrothorn in

Round 3
Time to figure out if my last round was genius or a concede worthy throw.
Groudon threatens the 2 shot here even through knock (because I found erruption).
Is there some way to deny me blowing ferrothorn up that won't leave his next mon completely dead to double swords dance groudon.

Round 4
I am very happy with how the round into ferrothorn went. Missing leech seed was icing on the cake, but I got the N passive and made ferro irrelevant (unless he also spends the potion).
I think in hind sight I maybe didn't need the fidigt combo. Gastro acid was critical, but removing weak pol was less relevant. I hadn't quite realised at the time that I had the 2 shot, because I wasn't thinking of erruption as a back up if my choice band got knocked.

Round 4 was auto stay in with second order choice band good match up.
I am impressed by how much damage zekrom manages to return but it does use up his tech, which decreases the future variance of the battle.

Choice band makes attacking so good that it is hard to justify doing anything tricky, good subs by Keriel to stop me from 3 tapping Zekrom.

I especially like the dragon tail. The natural progression here is I have second order which is used to kill an 8 hp zekrom that was going to die anyway, letting Keriel second order in the next real round.

Round 5
My orders continue to be pretty chill and auto pilot.

I try to kill the zekrom and use crit stages to beat light screen.
I don't really like the decision to try and save zekrom. It gives me a lot of control of the flow of the battle here, letting me kill him next round as first order, and trading his super potion for 20 damage + I get crit stages up.

I was expecting zekrom dies, ferrothorn gains 40 hp since ferro is actually kind of annoying mu for archaludon with 40 hp and second order.

I would say this is the round I was confident that I would win. Getting rid of the super potion brought a lot of clarity to the game state.

Round 6
Zekcrom executed, nothing to see here.

Round 7
Ferrothorn executed, nothing to see here.

Round 8
Oh. Well I knew that arch was my best pokemon into sigilyph but I had forgotten that it was this one sided.
I just want to shoot sigil and trade damage, low variance is the name of the game here, I just want to trade hp until groudon emerges victorious.
Battle to not bug subs under choice band and charge moves is real.

Well, fun battle and I think one of the battles I have played best in.
The fidgit line was very strong and pretty much set the game on the winning trajectory by turning my fidgit who was a bit out of place in this battle into ferrothorn getting splatted into paste by groudon. Without fidgits disruption groudon could easily have lost 90 life fighting ferro with iron barbs and similar.

I think it was also very important that ferrothorn was so crippled that it let me enter on first order choice band.
If you look at the rest of the game I first ordered on round 1 and 3 and then never had to play a "real" first order again until the game ended on round 8.

I think one of my biggest strengths as a player is making first order other peoples problem with good management of life bars and swapping.

In terms of things I could do better, I didn't calc groudon vs ferro properly while in round 2, which led to me spending 2 tech on a combo that wasn't really needed (I thought I would take 3 hits from weak pol instead of 2). I think my back pack was a bit of a disaster.

Could have had expert belt to make erruption more generally live vs ferrothorn. Shoudn't have had fire gem. I think gems just arn't real at level 4 really, but on top of that my plan involved sunny day already, so endure was already countering my plan.

I should have had cleanse tag instead of safety goggles. In general I think I underestimated ferrothorn and did not understand the proper answers while going into the battle.

I should have brought power belt for archaludon, though I do think in this particular game state choice scarf was the better send out anyway.

Arena: Plasma Frigate

The Plasma Frigate flies above Unova en route to the Giant Chasm, casting an imposing shadow on the ground beneath it. Colress awaits your challenge at the ship's helm. The metal the Frigate is made out of is cold beneath your feet, and rain from the clouds you fly through soaks into your clothes. Colress already has one legend at his disposal — you'd better stop him before he can get another!
  • The default weather is Rain, with indefinite duration. This Rain cannot be discarded.
  • The first time it uses Techno Blast per sendout, Colress's Genesect may specify any type and Techno Blast will become that type. Future instances of Techno Blast during the same sendout will remain that type. Techno Blast can always be attempted during the first step of a round.
  • Camouflage turns the user into a Steel type
  • Secret Power may lower the defender's Attack stage by one (1) for their next three (3) turns
  • Nature Power becomes Flash Cannon
